I had almost stopped checking this story for updates, but I am SOOOO happy to see that you are still working on this! Yeah, I read a lot of this stuff..... *coughs* but seriously, this is the best fic of POTC. Your writing is already very good and fun to read. Plus I really think you preserve the nature of Jack's character (I think a lot of ppl lose that when they write their own fic). Anyways, PLEASE keep it up ;) I love this story. Very interesting, unique, etc...

Citadel! Darling! Please tell me that you are alive and well. I've read this story AT LEAST fifty times by now, and I discovered it merely a few months ago. If I do not get an ending to this, I will simply die. Your story captures the quirks, and mannerisms of all the characters perfectly, this is one of, if not THE best PotC fanfics I've ever read. PLEASE update soon or at least leave us a note telling us that you're still with us! I'm waiting patiently for your return!

First let me say that your writing is brilliant and your plot idea is great. I love the way you portray Jack AND the way you describe other people’s reaction to his eccentric ways. The scene in Chapter 9 where Jack patiently instructs Maren on how to cock his pistol so that she could threaten him properly during her escape attempt simply floored me. Also Maren’s occasional insights into why Jack does some of the things he does are all very plausible as well as entertaining. We all know why we read fan fiction on an “adult site” but finding a story that has a well thought out plot; good spelling, grammar, and formatting; as well as good sex scenes is a rare treat.

Now my one complaint: The story is WAY too long. I very seldom can take the time to read a story with 29 chapters, but your summery sucked me in and after the first chapter I was hooked. Imagine my dismay when I reached the end of Chapter 28 and your note said the story was little more than half way finished! Two years to write half a story has to be something of a record. Many of your scenes while entertaining really are not needed for the original story line. (If this had been a movie they would have been found in the deleted scene section of the DVD.) The whole “get Jack painfully turned on an then leave him hanging” ploy got pretty old for me. I was getting so frustrated with that part of the story that I was ready to hold Maren down for him myself. I kept having to remind myself what the story had started out to be about. Anyway…

I really feel that hat you have here is not one long novel entitled “The Haunting Place” but one novel and several short stories. (Many writers write a series of stories featuring the same characters or situations.) A great deal of editing would definitely help “The Haunting Place” flow better AND supply us with more stories from a great author.

You are so incredbly brilliant that it is almost unbelievable. Your writing is exquisite, everyone is so in character, and the plot is to die for. I cannot imagine anyone doing a better job than this. It is everything I could possibly ask for. This should be a movie, it's so good! I love it so much. I'm going to go put it up at Depp Impact so that others can appreciate your humor, your perfect characterizations, and your drool-inducing smut. Reading your fanfiction has been an orgasmatastic experience!

OMG! I just love this story! And it's the first PotC fan fic I've ever read. Jack is so in-character and he's really been rounded out and expanded on.

I am unbelievably floored by your developing story. I have avoided extensive perusal of Fan Fiction for years on end, finding those that I have read to be trite, predictable, and without fail lacking even a basic understanding of correct English grammer. Then, lo and behold, on my first visit to this site, which was recommended to me by a friend, I find an amazing story which has kept me glued to my computer since late last night. I am in awe.

You portray Jack with such vivid colors that I can just see him strutting around using every line you've written. I can hear him speaking in my head. The character just jumps off the page and into the (oh so naughty) imagination. Jack's conniving is so marvelously twisted and clever, it makes me tingle. Maren and her sidekick are fantastic, so down to earth and real that I'm sure I must have met someone like her in my life. I think we'd be friends!

I can see, from my perusal, that you have taken nearly two years to finish these first 29 chapters, and I just don't know how I can wait for the next installment. It's like waiting for the next Anita Blake novel. I'm on the edge of my seat, biting my nails, and ready to tear my hair out. Don't stop, please! I need to know how it ends!
