Hello, I'm back. I want to comment on the fact Ms. Snowfall needs to remove all her reviews from stories that were not breaking the rules when posting, but then again, all that was said on the forums and supposedly bears little merit. Whatever.
Anyway, I want to say that I enjoyed this story so much I have it on my recommend list. I understand reviews will be long in coming, since many here are just clogging up the pipline and reading/updating all they can before traffic slows down to a crawl. I went ahead on FF.net and asked for folks who read my story over here, (and wanted the unedited chapter sent via email)to email me their reviews so I can post them. Sadly only one did. So much for that idea.
I liked the fact that Karen enjoyed some aspects of her coupling with Otis, in fact the whole non consensual, (but you like it anyway)--had always appealed to me. Very well done and, uh, stimulating. I really felt that the character was walking on egg shells through most of the story, walking that thin line between getting your neck snapped and being petted like a good girl. (or good dog...) As I said to you on the AFF chat, I would have probably been killed a long time ago, I am too mouthy when it comes to people manhandling me or being verbally abusive. I give your character credit for being able to survive and recover from that ordeal, and being able to admit to herself that it was okay to feel for Otis--without approving of what he did. I hardly judged her for enjoying some aspects of their relationship, in fact, I thought it was realistic and was happy that she was able to derive SOME pleasure from her stay in that freak house.
All in all, I look forward to whatever fandom you write for next, I will be checking....

Thank you for your excellent story. I interpreted it as a touching, emotional story, a survivor's POV. Somehow, it reminds me of Stephen King's Misery, the hostage situation, a person at the hands of a completely insane person with no discernible salvation in sight other than death. Then the consequences it had upon the victim and how it changed them. Not that Misery and your story have the exact same storylines, because they do not. It's just the title that pops to mind, since Misery is one of my favorite books - because of the same reasons that I like your fic so much. You describe what Karen is feeling with great precision and plausibility, her reasoning as a victim, the survival instincts that looms inside all of us, if we are aware of it or not.
As much as I think Otis is alluring in that way and I enjoyed the semi-consensual sex scenes between him and Karen, I found myself just enthralled by the way you described her every-day situations in the Firefly House. Her non-Otis activities and events, the little things that invites one to think that there actually was a Karen in the Firefly house who was rescued in the beginning of Devil's Rejects.
Mkay, enough of my rambling, I think... =)

I don't normally leave messages in the reviews section, cause I don't want to make it look like I'm "padding" my reviews.
But, in the case of this "Your sick" comment, I had to leave one...
I'm assuming you mean that to be insulting. I actually found it a compliment. I wanted that part to be "sick." I didn't want anyone to walk away going, "HOW KEWL Where's my knife, I wanna do the SAME THING!" It was supposed to make the reader feel sick, queasy, and at the very least uncomfortable. Your "insult" just proved I did it. So, thank you. As a writer, I really appreciate knowing I can achieve what I set out to do.
And if you were the same person who made the coment about my other story? Well, I'm sorry you don't understand humor. And yes, the story was supposed to be funny. I've passed the story around to a number of people who all did find it amusing, so I'd think the person who doesn't understand the joke is you.

Oh wow, this story is amazing. I love your descriptions, the details in the story. The way you have Karen react to things is, in my opinion, very realistic. I'm excited to read more!
