A mary-sue is a "perfect" character. She usually gets hooked up with main characters such as Jack Sparrow - or in this case, James Norrington. She is flawless and beautiful and everyone is jealous of her but she isn't snotty about it. Etc, etc, etc. But your Miss Gold is a developed character, and actually has background and thought put into her, so she's an exception. Pairings with main characters can be tastefully done, as your story proves.

AND FINALLY, JACK SPARROW! -snuggles Jack...and James ^^-

oh, luverly chappie, as always! i haven't been reviewing, but i've been following your story quite obsessively...ahem, i meant 'closely.' a Mary-Sue, is a pathetic little person with no personality and is a terrible main character. or she's a protagonist who's gorgeous, perfect at everything, and all the men are in love with her. At least, that'a the most common definition. Most of the "experts" i know cry "MARY-SUE!" whenever the main female role falls in love with any of the main characters, which makes it a bit difficult to write a romance, don't u think? Anywho, i don't think you have much to worry about, although there probably are people out there who would scream "MARY-SUE!!" at the top of their lungs, simply because she and our dear commodore fell in love. well, i hope i helped without rambling on too much:) write more please! i'm anxiously awaiting the next chappie!

Well.
since you asked for a review...
I have just found your story and I LOVED it. There are only few stories about Norrington, and even fewer with a bit of romance in store, so please go on letting poor Norry be the hero and rescue Elise.
By the way, I very much admire your style of writing, especially in the way you portrayed Norrington. I myself am no native speaker, but I know a well written story when I see one.
So, onward brave writer! We long for more!

Greetings,
