That was the most creative twist I've ever read! Really, I hadn't even expected the epilogue to be taken in Baltus' point of view, or as to what had happened between the couple. I liked how you really created the character of Baltus as more than just a merry father figure from the movie; and, you explained the situation extremely well. This is ending DID not disappoint me, and instead added to the unusuality of the story.
