It definitely pays to read more than once (in my case at least) to get a full understanding of it all. I tend to rush/skim through more on my first read-through and I fail to see a lot of the points and details that were made.

For example, my first time reading through the Lex/Kayla flashback I so wanted to strangle Kayla for what i thought was her "dont blame me" and "how dare you bring up my past" attitude for what has happened. On my second reading though, I realized that she was actually taking all the blame for what has happened and said that comparisons with her past were wrong because this time, for real, it was her choice that has caused it all. Which does make it quite sad that this encounter turned out to be the last time they ever spoke to one another. I still don't get how Kayla could smell male scents but Lex couldn't (if age is the factor, since Lex was supposed to be "older" than Kayla IIRC).

This actually reminded me a bit of how Ba'naj and his father parted ways as well. Amazing how these two were alienating everyone who had been close to them in the past for eachother.

Oh well, once again, top-knotch storytelling from you circle. We await your next master class with baited breath. :)

Wow! So sad, yet informative. It bugs me that they forget humans are different from them. A human female requires much attentive behavior. It is in her nature as well to be possessive of a mate. Shlok admitted to Kayla that he wanted Leena beyond duty as a mate, so why would any of this surprise him? He gave permission, so technically...but my heart would have preferred his heart belonging to Kayla.

One pregnant mate, or your love possibly dying at that moment? I never thought Shlok would be so petty, but after his feelings strayed from Kayla to Leena it seems. I'm starting to think he didn't love Kayla after he mated Leena. Possibly Stephna made a wedge between them deepen? You don't tell the only female you've ever loved that you want another female. Did Kayla bring that back at him?

It is just human nature to want to be the only one. Why was he and Tanoj fighting? Did Tanoj or Kulvir talk to Shlok?

This is by far one of the best chapters yet! It was good with no sex, lol.
It opened up so many questions. How do Sa'tesh really feel about Kayla? I guess if he didn't like her he would have told her secret about her and Ba'naj, but then again maybe he was keeping the secret for Ba'naj since they were friends.
“And now here stands her eldest son, a half blooded ooman, with the great bravery of a full blooded Yautja and leader of a glorious vessel. He boldly stands before me, an elder, questioning his mother's death and my close friend's integrity. Did I make the right choice?”
WOW That part says it all. He didn't like her. He wanted her dead, and should he have actually killed her. So did he? omg, so many questions!
Then there's Lex. I am so happy that she understood Kayla, but it was sad that it was too late. Her relationship with Shra'van is so sweet. Now if Shra'van reacted violently about the news, how will Ta'noj react?
You nicely wrote how Shra'van killed that crazy girl, without really saying he did it. WTG!

Woot! An update. I love it. I just can't wait to see where all this ends up. I'm so confused and enthralled at the same time. I don't know who to love and who to hate. Keep up the great work!

Oh wow, what a chapter. Sure there was no sex, but damn there was a ton to digest.

As suspected, Kayla and Ba'naj were having this affair for decades (I'm not too sure on the details, but I believe they said what, 10 years before she became an elder (when Ba'naj talked to Sa'tesh) and 20 years since then (when Kayla talked to Lex)), and it sounds like it may have even gone on right until her death. It's amazing how it was kept so well from her family, that none of them knew. Lucky for Kayla she had some people who would keep her secret or she'd have been dead sooner (Lex, Sa'tesh and certainly Pahel who no doubt helped hide the identity of the father of some of her children). All what's left is to find out what exactly Kul'vir knew and how he handled things before he died.

Nice to see Shra'van in action, getting rid of that worm Sou'sha so quick and efficiently, and you really feel bad for him now that he knows the truth. Sounds like he's going to want to kill Ba'naj soon. And then there's Ta'noj, how will the poor guy take all this in? If Shra'van is hurtin this badly from the truth, it's only going to destroy him, and Sh'lok too, if he doesn't know already.

Again circle you just keep leaving us wanting more. You're truly a master. :)

I think it is possible that Stephna hated Kayla over Kulvir's love of Kayla. She fought about it with Kulvir in their quarters, all the while putting on a fake face to eveyone else. When she found out Shlok was Kayla's mate Stephna's reaction was inappropriate in my opinion. Shlok frequently prepared Stephna, and she craved more than his scent according to Shlok mentioning he could have taken her anytime he'd have liked before he became her active mate.
Why would Kulvir change the selection of Gagan as Stephna's new mate upon his death. Especially since he knew what was going on with Kayla, and how she was over Shlok with Leena? Did stephna have a hand in his decision, afterall Kulvir knew what sharing Shlok did to Kayla? I can't see him being so cruel.
If Shlok put those others before the only female he supposedly loved...I can't say it. If anything she would have gotten the most attention. Besides he always favored Leena, so why not Stephna who probably didn't challenge his male ego either. He was probably mating them when Kayla was battling Biren. I mean he wasn't even with her then while Biren was, and that may have shifted Kayla's feelings. Of course I'm only speculating. This story is so good and engrossing! I just never liked Stephna since she never cared for Kulvir beyond his status, but she was not his first choice either. I just hope Shlok sees her for what she is. She was NEVER Kayla's friend.

Typo Banaj was there for Kayla. Why would Shlok accept a third mate when he could barely juggle two? I think Kayla did what was expected of her not by how she truely felt.

Stephna got kullvir to watch kayla. Why...Jealousy? I am supremly curious if Shlok made the same mistake with stephna when it came to Kayla.
Ignoring her heat as he took care of his other mates heats. Why would she leave her bed in middle of the night horny otherwise?
She might of found out that about the almost betrayals that Shlok avoided with Stephna, or did he? During their wait for the ritual did he give into Stephna who always had wanted him, while she was still grieving for kulvir, did he mate Stephna behind her back I wonder?
I don't think Shlok did it because he gave permission, and he was bedding other females.
I think Banaj's father or that other Elder may have arranged it cause she made Elder. Possibly a male she refused to mate? So many possibilities. I can't wait to read more about Shlok though. How could he not continue to seek out his love's killer? I was very disappointed by that.

yes, maybe Stephna got Kulvir to watch her. So you really think she was jealous at Kayla? Ok, that could be of course. The question is, how intelligent is Stephna? Is she intelligent and hard-boiled enough to kill kayla and make a nice face to her son, so that he doesn't think she was able to kill his mother? Hm... to be honest, I don't think she killes her. But she was not a real friend. She talked bad about Kayla and she tried to find out about her and Banaj. A real friend would not akt like her. She tried to talk with Sh'lok about that. Thats not normal for a friend. She was not loyal.

I can imagine that he made the same mistakes again like with Leena. I'm pretty sure. He is a man and Stefna was new to him. New things are interesting.... And I'm sure that Kayla made the same mistakes too like with Leena.

You think Sh'lok betrayed Kayla with Stephna? You think that they had an affair before Kulvir died? It may be that Sh'lok mated with her after Kulvirs death. He was her active mate. They were allowed to mate. Maybe he don't told Kayla because he didn't want trouble. I think he told her really late about it. Months after Kulvir died.... And she reacted really calm. Why?

I was disappointed about Sh'lok too... Its not normal how he reacted.... But ok, they are not human....

But why was his interest in Leena and maybe Stefna stronger than in Kayla? What is different on them? Is it, because they are his own race? Or what is it?

Yes, you are right. I think too, that they talked about her relationship with Banaj. I think she would not tell Kulvir that she was pregnant with Banaj's baby. But I'm pretty shure that their relationship started before Stef'na became Sh'lok's mate.

Hehe, no, I'm not confused.

But when they got Sh'loks permission, why did they handle their affair as a secret? OK, sure they hat not the permission to make babys...

Another thought of mine: What if Banaj wanted to fight for Kayla, to make her his mate. She said, she would kill him before that happen. What if she and him fight and he killed her by mistake?
