This story is great.
Seriously. I knew it was going to be good as I saw what the boxer's name was (hooray for references to other Coen brothers films), but it ended up being the best "Miller's Crossing" fanfic I've read. I loved how you kept everyone in character, I loved how you put in an angsty backstory that actually made sense (and didn't overplay it, either), and I loved the truly nasty subversion of the "hurt/comfort" thing. You should be very proud.
