This story is really beautifully written! You do an amazing job of capturing the speech and atmosphere of the stories. It might benefit from a beta or another read-through, as there were some typos here and there, but really, I was enjoying it mostly too much to care. :) "I have heard one, in fact, but it was a singular man, and therefore quite possibly lacked the orchestral effect you speak of" is officially my favorite sentence of the week. I'm looking forward to reading more!

Wonderful stuff and I really love the effort you've put into capturing the 19th century 'voice'.
One quibble--aspirin wasn't around until the 1930s. Watson would probably have used laudanum instead. I know I feel like a shameful geek even pointing it out, but you did such a good job otherwise with the authentic world-building that that really jarred.
PLEASE update soon! I love this fic!

Fabulous story! Most excellent portrayal of both characters - I could easily see the scene unfolding in mind's eye. You are a superior writer, hope to read more of your work soon.
