Chapter 1 Happy Birthday Will.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear William, happy birthday to you."
Elizabeth smiled as she gave Will a kiss on his cheek to congratulate him on his 23rd birthday.
"Congratulations William."
Will smiled back at his fiancée. Ever since that fateful day that Jack fell off the fort to swim to his beloved Black Pearl, he finally got to kiss the girl he had always dreamed about kiss

That brought back memories of the crazy pirate that had helped him free Elizabeth. Jack Sparrow, no "Capt" Ja" Jack Sparrow. Had been one unforgettable character. Half of the time the pirate seemed to be either drunk or high on opium, maybe even both. But then there were those instances of sheer brilliance that made you wonder if the whole "Mad Jack" thing was nothing more than an act to make people underestimate him.
Like that drop from the fort. A few steps to the left or to the right and he'd have landed on the cliffs. But right at that spot you would fall in the water.
Will's musings were interrupted by an excited Elizabeth.
"Will, guess what me and daddy are giving you for your birthday!"
Will shrugged, a bright smile on his face to mirror the one on Elizabeth's face.
"I have no idea Elizabeth."
Her smile got even wider if that was even possible.
"A vacation. We're going on vacation to recover from all the horrors of dealing with cursed pirates and the like. To the Virgin islands. I heard its very beautiful this time a year."
The rest of it Will didn't hear, he'd tuned Elizabeth out, while she continued chattering on and on about the island they were going to.
Only thing that really registered in Will's mind was that he was going out to sea again. To feel the waves under his feet. Jack had been right about that, he had pirate blood in him; but that didn't make him a pirate though. It took a lot more to be a pirate that to have a father who had been one. But he did like the ocean. Maybe if things had been different, he might have become a sailor for the Crown.
Will shook his head to clear it, it was no use to think of "if only's". What's in the past, is in the past. No point in going "If only I'd done this different or that." Live in the present, like Jack.
But before Will could ponder on why he was thinking of Jack so much today Elizabeth dragged him back to pre present.
"Come on Will, the ship leaves in a couple hours and you still need to pack."
Turning his attention back to Elizabeth and away from his thoughts of "Captain Jack Sparrow" Will realizeed what she had said. Their ship, leaving in a few hours, he had to hurry if he was going to make it.
"Eh, how long did you say we were going to stay?"
Will smiled sheepishly, hoping that Elizabeth would forgive him for not listening to what she had been saying.
Elizabethwledwled at him, putting her hands on her sides.
"William Turner, did you hear nothing of what I said to you? I said, we were going to stay there for 2 weeks of relaxing, sightseeing and lots more. Now go and get packing or I might just decide to bring ya along without any spare clothes. Then you'll have to run around naked."
Will chuckled as he gave Elizabeth a kiss on her cheek and went to his home to pack. Elizabeth had really picked up some language during her tryst with the cursed pirates, as well as her time with Jack.
Damn, now he was thinking about Jack again. He really should stop that. Well, the upcoming vacation was sure to do it. Nothing like a little vacation away from everything that reminded him of that cursed adventure.
Quickly Will started to collect his wardrobe. Thankfully he didn't own much. He filled up a chest with his clothing. Added some books he liked and also his favorite sword and dagger.
'I'm sure I won't need them, but better safe than sorry. Not all pirates are like Jack after all. Damn, I really need this vacation.'
Once done, Will got the chest onto a small cart he used if he needed to transport broken cannons or iron for cannonballs. This made getting his chest to the docks a lot easier. Not that it was very far. He imagined it be a lot harder to get Elizabeth's things for the trip down from the mansion.
When Will arrived at the docks Elizabeth was already there, waving at him. That's when Will noticed the many chests Elizabeth was taking with her.
It looks like she's bringing her whole wardrobe.
It was besides the point that he was as well, after all his things fitted in only one chest. Elizabetemedemed to have at least two dozen chests of all kinds of sizes, raging from handheld little things to the size of Will's whole closet.
"Elizabeth, are you really bringing all that? Isn't that a bit much?"
Elizabeth ran up to him and gave him a tight hug.
"Of course not silly, I need to look nice for you don't I? Besides this is only my holiday clothing."
Elizabeth then went back to scold the sailors who were bringing her things aboard, to be careful and not break anything.
Will sighed...
"Women..."
Then he dumped his chest next to Elizabeth's and asked one of the boys always hanging around the dock to take the empty cart back to the smith.
After some haggling on what to pay the boy, a few shillings, did Will turn back to Elizabeth, who was still busy irritating the sailors with her constant exclamations of "Be careful. Don't drop it, don't break anything."
To Will it seemed like she was bringing her whole household.
And I'm marrying that? Oh lord, have mercy.
Then right at that moment Commodore Norrington appeared on deck.
"Ah, Miss Sawn, Mister Turner. Fortune wills it that I will be accompanying you on your journey to the Virgin islands."
Will nodded at the Commodore.
He's just coming along because Elizabeth is. A jealous voice in Will's head said to him. But he ignored it. After all, he was the one engaged to Elizabeth, not Norrington.
Elizabeth smiled up at the Commodore.
"Thank you so much for accompanying us, it really wouldn't do if we were attacby Pby Pirates on our vacation."
Will was surprised, Elizabeth had asked for Norrington to come along? Surely he was mistaken... right?
When all the chests were loaded aboard and they were finally settled in comfortable cabins near the Captains n, dn, did Will finally have time to go up on deck.
Will watched as the sailors made ready to depart. On the dock stood Governor Swan bidding them a fair voyage and safe return. Will hadn't even noticed the Governor there when he had his and Elizabeth's things loaded on board. The only thing he really had noticed was the ship, the many chests Elizabeth was taking with her and Norrington.
Feels strange to be on a ship again, familiar but not.
Will sighed and decided to ignore his desire to go help the crew. After all, he really didn't know much about sailing. That time he and Jack had stolen the Interceptor, Jack had to explain everything to him. Sure he learned fast, but with only two men on board it had been really difficult to sail in to Tortuga. And when they finally had picked up a crew he'd basically been told to hang tight and don't get in their way.
The Serenity swayed under Will's feet as it slowly left port to travel to the Virgin islands.
TBC.
