The Curtain Rises

A/N: Well I'm back, and not only is the story finished, but its completely re-edited, grammar, names and other small mistakes. I'm deeply sorry for the wait but every sixth chapter I wrote was horrible, but I sat down and wrote the final one today and couldn't be happier with the outcome.

Chapter 1:

Sarah sat back and rubbed her temples, thank god it was finally done. The complete script of her new play Through the Maze lay on her desk. Who would have thought that the horrible ordeal she’d been put through 5 years ago would actually bring a little good to her life?

‘Hopefully this will have slightly more success than my acting’ she thought.

Tomorrow night the play would open and all her hard work would be put to test. On stage, everything looked almost identical to the Labyrinth she had visited after wishing Toby away. The puppets weren’t too shabby, and she’d thought of everything down to the fully trained white owl that would fly across the living room set in the last scene. But one thing bugged her, and that was the guy who would play Jareth. It wasn’t that he was a bad actor, oh no he had Jareth’s arrogant personality down pat. But when he said the lines “…and I will be your slave” she couldn’t help but think that the eyes should be different colors, the hair messed up in a sexy style, the tights tighter and- “God!” she groaned. “No more missing sleep for me. Fantasizing about Jareth can not be a good sign

Meanwhile, in the Underground, a very amused goblin king lounged on his throne with an outstretched hand holding a crystal.

‘So, it seems Sarah has grown up. Tomorrow night will be a very, very good night to pay her a visit. But the question is how to crash her little play…’

The goal of course, was to bring Sarah back to the Underground. He had delayed far too long in finding a queen, and he couldn’t go forever without an heir. Besides, who would be more fitting to marry the one woman (or person for that matter) who had ever bested him? She obviously desired him anyways, so once she arrived the games of seduction would begin. It would be so much easier if she would just call him, or wish away another baby. At that thought a grin that bordered evil crossed his face. Watching the rehearsals for the play had paid off. Sarah’s young cousin was portraying Toby, and what could be easier than stealing him away when ‘Sarah’ said her lines?

The next night.......

Sarah applied her lipstick with a shaking hand. So, this was it, her play would either be loved or shot down in flames. She prayed Collin wouldn’t cry during the play, that Jennifer wouldn’t forget her many lines, that-“Ok lets just calm down everything will be perfect, nothing can possibly go wrong.” She checked the clock and her hair. Showtime.

Jareth sat in the back row, dressed in a outfit less conspicuous than his usual attire. Sarah came on and gave a short speech before the play. He could honestly say he didn’t hear a word of it, so occupied was he with the way she looked. Stunning about summed it up. Jareth’s attention turned to the rising curtain as the play began.

The first scene went rather well, but it was the third that Jareth was waiting for.
As soon as Jennifer raised Collin her her arms and opened mouth to say the lines that brought the turning point of the play, Sarah cried out.
'How could she have been so stupid?!? She might as well have handed Collin on a silver platter to Jareth.' And then Jennifer said it.

"I wish the goblins would take you away, right now." Sarah stood up and looked around feeling slightly embarrassed. Of course Jareth wouldn't come, Denise didn't REALLY wish the baby away. She turned around only to see Jareth standing on stage, with his cape trailing behind him. Facing Denise he stated in a cool tone, “I believe you have something that belongs to me now."
