Chapter 1
The arrival of Rheia
The winds brushed against the arms of the lady, her mouth turned up into a smile. She'd not felt the winds of her homeland in almost four and a half years. Time had gone by so fast yet it felt as if time was slowing. Again the gentle breeze kissed her skin, her eyes lifted slowly as she saw the great walls of Troy.
Rheia silently thanked the gods for her safe journey back home, the sea god had granted her a blessed sail. She felt tears fill her eyes as the city wmed med her, a loving daughter come home. Sadness as and excitement were mixed in her arrival, Rheia cousin to Andromache who knew pain still lingered in the great house of King Priam. The tales of Prince Hector lingered over the country side spreading far across the Aegean. He was still the strongest son of Troy, greatest warrior of his people. What he wasn't was the man he use to be. The death of his beloved wife prayed upon him day after day, on this day it was worse, the birthday of his son and the passing of his wife.
The birth of Astyanax, first son of Hector, was being celebrated spilling over into the streets of Troy. It went hand in hand with Rheia's welcome. The streets filled with citizens, celebrating her return. She nodded and waved, feeling overcome, this was the welcome of a Princess not a Lady. Yes, she was noble but she would never be a princess, the death of Prince Ilus granted her that. His death came quick, the fires of an enemies archer. She knew her loss was nothing compared to Hector's, but she hoped her arrival would help him put to the rest the demons that had taken him.
King Priam watched with joyous vigor as the once Princess of Imbros, slowly made her way up the steps towards him. He, like the city, was happy to see her.
"My King" She spoke softly before lowering her head.
"No my child" He said loudly, "Come to me." Priam opened his arms wide taking her into his embrace. "We are glad you've come home."
Rheia couldn't help but laugh, Priam has always treated her like his daughter. For that she was thankful and loved him dearly.
"You are well my lord?" She asked stepping back but still holding onto his arms. "You look well."
"Don't tease me my dear, I am old but still kicking." He joked "now come, I forbade anyone to meet you but myself. They are all inside awaiting you."
"Why?" Rheia say the twinkle in the old man's eyes.
"A feast for my daughter." He whispered in her ear before taking her arm and walking them into the palace.
She was engulfed in darkness. Making her way into the great house, Rheia could smell the food before she and king entered the great hall.
"Tis a glorious day" King Priam announced as light pulled he and Rheia into view.
The crowd of people turned, their gazes fixed on the King and Rheia, she smiled up at him.
"You are a kind man my lord, this wasn't necessary." She felt humble.
"Never think you are not worth this degree of celebration." Priam told her as he lifted her hand to his lips. He kissed it gently before pulling her further into the room.
"By the gods she's lovelier then I'd imaged." Paris, second son to Priam cooed. His dark eyes roamed over the Lady whom stood next to his father. A growl was all he got as an answer from his brother who stood beside him.
"Brother" Paris moaned giving Hector a sharp look, "She's very lovely."
Hector fought the urge to roll his eyes, instead he returned to his seat and his drink.
Paris shook his head, "You stay with your wine, I'll attend to our guest."
Hector watched his younger brother stride without fail to the king, Paris was an outstanding flirt and this ladyld bld be no different from the rest. She would coo and play sweet but then fall into the princes' bed like so many others.
As the scene played out before him, Hector mused over her face. Dark hair, almost black, fell down her back. Unlike most ladies, her hair was without curl making her stand out. Her jewelry was common for a lady, yet she wore a ring on her right middle finger. The ring given to her by Hector's late wife, he looked away, thoughts of his beloved filled him. A strange humming came to ear, a song distant but rang loudly. Hector pushed the sound away, not tonight, he wanted to drown the images of his wife, his life with wine. The arrival of Lady Rheia was indeed a celebration.
Paris smiled as his father went to his other guest, leaving him alone with Rheia. His eyes sparkled as he looked upon her now.
"Was your journey hard?" He asked.
Rheia smiled, "Twas long but worth it, I am home."
She was pleased that he'd approached her, made her feel a tad less nervous.
"How are you young prince, I see you've grown strong."
Paris smirked, "Yes It has been four years since we last saw one another."
"Yes it has been." Her voice trailed as she watched Hector move across the room. His face set in a scowl, she frowned.
"What is it?" Paris asked.
"I am just tired from the journey that is all." She lied.
"Would you care to sit with me?"
Rheia nodded and followed the prince, she settled against the cushions of one of the many couches.
Paris offered her a glass of wine, "To your return." He told her as she took the wine.
"Many thanks" she drew the goblet to her lips tasting the sweet liquid.
"Tis nothing" was all Paris sahe whe would enjoy this women before him. The days had grown lonely in a absent of his lover, but now things were looking up.
Hector stood in the shadows watching, it never failed to amaze him. The resolve of his brother was like nothing he'd seen. Rheia had been in Troy not even three hours and Paris was already on the hunt. He never understood his brother's games, he himself never played them. The need to take a woman was necessary he knew that, he'd take them only when his body needed it. Other than that, Hector scarily spoke to one, his opinion of them had greatly changed with the death of his wife.
"Why have you not spoke with Rheia?" Hector turned seeing his father.
"I.."
Priam chuckled, "You've been watching my son, she is our guest and family I beg you to speak with her."
"Paris is doing that for me." Hector told his father before both men looked over to them.
"My son, I think the lady would enjoy speaking to you more than to the young prince." Priam said lightly before moving to the sea of people.
Hector sighed, he never understood how his father could do it. Always say things to make him look upon something differently. He knew his father was right, it was rude of him not to speak with her. She was still his wife's cousin, a beloved cousin to his Andromache. If she were here, she would be cursing him. He finished his drink before making his way over.

"Aww" Paris said while standing up, he'd caught Hector out the corner of his eye, "The mighty Hector has come to speak his welcome."
Rheia stood but said nothing as Hector came to them. His face showing little emotion.
"I've come to welcome you" was all he said. His eyes moving over her face. His gaze stopped on her eyes, almost black, unlike her cousin's. They engulfed him like the sea, pulling him under, trapping him.
"I am honored my lord, both prince's of Troy came to welcome me personally. I am the envy of every women." She told him. His was looking directly at her, something she noted he'd never done before. She found his intense look made her uneasy.
"How is your son my lord?" Rheia hoped by speaking it would divert his gaze but it hadn't.
"He is well" Paris laughed, "He is as strong as his father." The younger brother wasn't aware of his brother's lack of speech.
"I am glad, my I call on him tomorrow?"
Hector nodded, he finally spoke. "Yes, Please excuse me." He said swiftly before leaving.
Paris rolled his eyes, "Please take no offence, Hector is not the man you knew all those years ago."
"I'd say not, he's lost his wife. That would change a man." Rheia spoke bluntly.
"Yes it would" Paris grabbed another drink, "We'll not think of death, only life." He raised the glass, "This is the start of your new life, here in Troy."
