Disclaimer:
I do not own The Fantastic Four, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Factor #1: Abs
Some much needed Fantastic Four slash :) Although not done for Cassandra's challenge, the challenge itself was good inspiration.
Pairing: Johnny/Reed
Rating: chpt 1 is only PG but as the story continues it'll be NC-17
Summary: Basically Reed recollects how Johnny and his relationship developed and the "factors" involved.
italics = flashback
' (single quotation) ' = thoughts
Okay on with the story.
Chapter 1 – Factor #1: Abs
‘It was a Monday morning about two months ago at… oh, I would have to say, approximately 8:30 am,’ Reed thought to himself, ‘that’s when all of this was set in motion. That’s when everything started. The beginning of the end.’ Reed chuckled at his own cliché.
Reed’s short chuckle turned into a slight sigh at the memory of the first few noticeable “symptoms” of his new strange love.
‘Now that I think about it… it was just a regular Monday morning… nothing unusual about it at all… nothing overly irregular. But there had to have been something irregular about it. Maybe the Earth was closer to Mars or to the Moon then it normally was or maybe some strange light rays from Venus had hit Earth that day. There had to have been something,’ Reed thought, eyebrows scrunched together in contemplation, ‘Maybe if I went back through exactly what happened step by step what was the first thing that went wrong.’
8:30 am Monday:
Reed was sitting at the dining table as he usually did, reading the newspaper and drinking his morning cup of coffee and nibbling on a piece of toast. Sue was taking a shower, as she usually did in the morning, and Ben was still asleep. Reed remembered he had been stuck on that morning’s crossword… 10 down…
‘Well, that’s unusual,’ Reed mused to himself, ‘I usually don’t get stuck on the crosswords.’
Maybe it was because Reed’s eyes were wondering around the kitchen in search of the answer to the crossword that they landed upon a boxer clad, topless Johnny, or maybe it was light rays from Venus. Regardless of the cause, Reed’s eyes roamed over Johnny’s well-defined upper body and Reed felt himself thinking some rather unexplainable and inappropriate thoughts.
‘They weren’t that inappropriate,’ Reed thought to himself slightly blushing, ‘And anyway what was Johnny doing up at that hour?! Usually he doesn’t wake up until… well at least until it’s past noon. Hmm… so maybe it was Johnny’s fault all this happened… makes sense… Johnny hasn’t brought home a new girl for quite some time.’
Reed shook his head clearing that silly thought away. ‘Johnny couldn’t have planned it all… he just doesn’t have the intelligence and patience to make that kind of a long term plan.’ Reed peered down at the sleeping form resting on his chest and whispered, “No offense, Johnny.”
‘But still, Johnny, in all seriousness, had no right to be awake at that hour. And he especially had no right being dressed in nothing but his boxers!’
Johnny strolled around the kitchen, as mentioned before, in nothing but his boxers. He opened the bag of bread and toasted it himself with his flame and then reached into the fridge and drank some orange juice from the carton. He then continued to walk around and munch on his toast before finally settling in the chair opposite Reed.
“Johnny,” Reed sighed, “Other people have to drink that… and you’re getting crumbs everywhere… you know how Sue hates that.”
Johnny shrugged, “No, they don’t.”
“What?”
Johnny grinned showing some remains of the bite of toast he had just taken and said, “You said ‘other people have to drink that’… well… no, they don’t have to drink it. Especially now that there are crumbs all over the top of it.”
Reed rubbed his temple and gave up trying to discipline Johnny and resigned to just giving him a stern look. In response Johnny grinned, crammed the rest of his toast into his mouth and got up to leave.
“Oh, by the way… I’m going out today.”
“You’re what?” Reed said in disbelief.
“I’m going out,” Johnny shrugged, “I’m sick of sitting around here.”
Reed opened his mouth to answer, but again was distracted by Johnny’s rather built upper body and abs. Reed’s mind began to wonder… a handful of tiny, persistent thoughts tugged at his brain. ‘What did Johnny’s abs feel like? Were they as strong as they looked? Had he been working out more? Why didn’t he not wear a t-shirt more often? What did Johnny’s skin feel like? What did his skin taste… Whoa!’ Reed shook his head and blinked away those nagging thoughts.
Johnny, who had gotten bored with waiting for Reed to stop day dreaming and say something, scoffed, rolled his eyes at Reed’s absentmindedness and then left the room.
‘Where had those thoughts come from,’ Reed wondered wearily, ‘Johnny is my teammate, for Christ’s sake. Plus, I just broke up with his sister. His sister. Plus, did I mention that Johnny is my teammate! Okay, those thoughts have to go.’
‘But they were a lot harder to get rid of then I expected,’ Reed recollected. He had managed to stop them for a little while, but when he had happened to be riding the stationary bike when Johnny came in to lift weights the thoughts came back and a lot stronger than before.
