In Your Dreams

It had been a year since they returned from their voyage to find Captain Jack Sparrow. Elizabeth and Will were due to be married in two weeks. Thoughts of Jack kept popping up in her mind since the voyage. Was Jack serious about his proposal on the Black Pearl? How would her life be different if she had accepted his proposal? If instead of kissing and tricking him, what would have happened between them if she kissed him with no tricks attached? Elizabeth sat on her bed and dreamed.

*****
Jack was standing at the helm of the ship. “Bugger” he said in complete frustration. Elizabeth walked towards him. “Hello Captain Sparrow.”

“Ah yes luv, ‘ere to trick me again?”
“Jack, I’m sorry. I’m here to talk to you privately.”

Jack looked at her bewilderedly and said “As long as you swear not to chain me to anything again, ‘nless you want to make it worth my while.” Smirking, he walked away to his cabin, Elizabeth following him.

“So luv, what did you want to speak to me about?” Jack leaned against the edge of his desk and started drinking a bottle of rum.
“I just want to know exactly what would’ve happened after our kiss on the Pearl if the Kraken hadn’t attacked it?”
“Well luv,” Jack left the desk, pinned her against the wall and leaned toward her until his mouth was only a few inches away from hers.
Her breath was quickening by the moment. She could smell the rum on his breath, the sea and the wood from the ship on his clothing, the typical Jack Sparrow scent.
Elizabeth closed her eyes as her body felt like it was on fire.
Jack lingered over her for a moment, watching Elizabeth’s emotions turning from sadness to curiosity and finally to desire. Jack kissed Elizabeth more passionately than he ever remembered kissing another woman. His tongue explored her mouth and then retreated as her tongue took a turn exploring his.

Jack had to remind himself that she was still a virgin, and as much as he wanted to rip her clothes off and ravage, her he took his time. With that in mind, he pulled her off the wall and gently carried her to the bed while still kissed her. Elizabeth was suddenly startled by a knock at the door.

Elizabeth jumped to her feet and tried to catch her breath from her steamy dream. “Yes?” She called to the door. She started to worry when there was no response from the other side of the door. Elizabeth fumbled around the room to find the sword that she had hidden. After finding it, she walked to the door with a slight tremble of fear. Opening it, she found Jack standing on the other side.

Jack was holding his head down, and frowning, which was different from the usually drunk Captain Sparrow. He was holding two bottles of rum. “Jack!” Elizabeth yelled, hugging him. “If you’re looking for Will, you won’t find him here. He left three weeks ago to sail with the Royal Navy to fight the Jodhpur Khukury Navy.

Jack looked up. “I’m glad to see you too luv, but you’d better put down your sword ‘fore I tell you why I’m here.” Elizabeth gave him a look of concern. “Look luv,” He said with sincerity, “I’m here with some news that you maybe should sit down for.” Jack patted the bed next to where he sat.

“Yes Jack?” Elizabeth asked with apprehension.

Jack looked at the floor as he pulled the cork from his bottle of rum and took a swig. “Will won’t be…” He handed Elizabeth the other bottle of rum. “Will won’t be returning darling,” Jack said as he took another swig from the bottle and then looked towards her.

“Jack…?” Elizabeth asked sobbingly. “A-are you telling me the truth?”

“Yes luv,” Jack said as he looked at the floor.

Elizabeth expelled the cork from the bottle and took a large mouthful.
“Whoa darlin…easy on the rum,” Jack said, hoping the humor would help ease the tension. She looked at him and began to cry on his shoulder.

“There, there darlin,” Jack said, trying to soothe her, “Everything will be all right.”

“Jack, there’s nothing left for me here. My father’s gone, and now Will…” she said anxiously, “and you’ll be returning to sea, and I expected to be married by now.”

Jack grinned. “Remember the offer I made you on the Pearl? I am still Captain of a ship.”
