Just say it Jack...
Author's note:
So its 1.30am my time and I just finished watching POTC 3 again. Yes, the tears accompanied it. But I couldn't sleep so decided to write this. Let me know what you think of it.
She gathered what little possessions had belonged to her over the past four months of being on the Pearl and shoved them in a bag. A hairbrush she'd stolen in Tortuga, a few clothes, a necklace, and a ring Jack had bought for her in the last port. Her stomach quenched. I don't want to be doing this, but she held her head up high, knowing she had no choice. She was just about to leave the cabin when the door slammed open, revealing a very distressed looking Jack Sparrow.
"Where are you going!?" he said angrily, trying to keep his voice down to normal level. He stared at her intently, and she stared back. Damn infuriating woman! Why couldn't she just understand?
"You know where I'm going Jack" she said defiantely, though her legs were shaking. Jack looked very mad and she was actually scared of him at that moment. But she wasn't going to let on to this: the small glint in his eye gave away the fact that he was hurt.
"No" he replied, leaning against the doorframe. "I will admit to not knowing where you are intending to go at present."
"Me neither Jack, but anything is better than being here at this moment in time," and at this, she swung the bag over her shoulder again and attempted to leave the room. But Jack wasn't having any of it, he grabbed her arm and pulled her over to him.
"Lizzie, don't be stubborn. You have nowhere to go, no way to get to your 'nowhere', and no reason to leave. You know it, now just calm down." She growled in frustration and gave Jack a look that would have reduced any other man to ashes. But not him, he wasn't going to let her just walk away.
"For your information CAPTAIN Sparrow, I have a perfectly good reason to leave and you know it so get your filthy hands off me" she shouted, attempting to shove Jack out the way. Foolish really, Jack had never hurt her physically but she knew he was stronger than her. The two of them glared daggers at each other for a moment, and Jack contemplated on begging for a second. NO! I've done nothing wrong here, don't let her win! But Jack knew if she wanted to leave she would, nothing he did could stop her.
Lizzie couldn't stand staring into his eyes anymore for she knew if she did she'd end up staying, and THAT she couldn't handle. She felt tears burning the back of her eyes and she lifted a hand to wipe furiously at her eyes. Whether or not Jack seen she didn't know, nor care at this precise moment. How had everything gone so wrong?
Jack loosened his grip slightly on her arm, thinking furiously, think, Jack, think. You can't let the best thing thats happened to you walk out of your life. No explanation, no nothing. Jack's heart ached and he wondered how they ended up like this. Thing's had been so perfect for a while, what happened? He let go of her arm as though it burned, and he half expected her to flee immediately, but she didn't. He turned his back on her, knowing tears were forming in his eyes. He walked towards the little window in the cabin and stared out. He remembered the time he and Lizzie spent the whole night on deck, staring at the moon, attempting to read the stars. He felt his heart thud painfully again, and it hurt. It hurt alot.
"You could just say it, you know?" she said, barely above a whisper. Jack quickly wiped away any emotions on his face and turned to face her again, raising an eyebrow.
"Say what exactly, Elizabeth?" She felt faint, he was using her formal name; not a good sign. He turned back round and she took a few steps forward.
"Anything. Tell me you love me. Tell me you're sorry? Just....anything. Please Jack?" She pleaded. He shook his head violently.
"I'm not in the wrong here" he said to her, though still facing the window. From his tone you could assume he was angry, but inside his heart was breaking. Say it,you Jackass! Just say you're bloody sorry. It wouldn't come out though. Lizzie sniffed and Jack dared a glance and saw she was stood at the door now, tears rolling down her face. God, she's beautiful.
"Last chance Jack" she whispered painfully, she just wanted him to look at her and say he was sorry, then everything would go back to normal. He looked her in the eye and felt remorse.
"Jack" she moaned, kissing him back in pure earnest, holding onto him tightly. "Lizzie..." he said breathlessly, caressing her cheek with one hand and her hair with the other. "How much will it hurt?" she said, eyes wide with fear. "Not much love, I promise I'll get you through this." He thrust into her and waited for her to adjust to this new feeling. They made slow, passionate love and after they had both finished they held each other in a tight embrace. "Never leave me Lizzie" he whispered to her. "Never make me, Jack" she replied, resting her head on his chest. They fell asleep together, dreaming of one another.
The memories of their first coupling made Jack tear up even more. He needed this woman, wanted this woman...loved this woman. He couldnt bear a life without her, Just say it then, his conscience insisted. He stared at her, then turned away, allowing his pride to win over his heart and head.
"Say it Jack" she repeated slowly "...please?" He sighed, and shook his head slowly, knowing he was going to regret it.
"You know I can't Elizabeth" he replied solemnly. She let out a final sob and ran out the room, leaving Jack alone and hurt. He stood there in shock, not knowing what to do. His conscience was telling him to go after her but he couldn't move. After what seemed like 15 minutes,he felt able to move and he knew he had to sort this out. He immediately thought she'd be in his cabin, but she wasn't. He checked all over the ship, before looking up and seeing Gibbs staring down at him in sympathy from the wheel.
"Where is she?" he shouted up to him. Gibbs didn't speak, only pointed. Jack followed his hand and about 1 or 2 miles ahead, in the dark ocean, he saw the glow of a lamplight and a rowboat heading to the horizon. His heart literally fell out his chest and he walked to his cabin, and locked the door. Sliding down the door into a sitting position he put his head in his hands, no longer able to fight the tears.
"I'm sorry, Lizzie" he whispered to himself, tears sliding down his face "I'm so, so sorry!"
