Humpty Dumpty Sat on a Wall

AN-This is a new section for me to work in, though I have read several, several fan works. Also, many thanks go out to my new Beta, Nonasuki-chan....hopefully she'll catch the stupid little mistakes that I often make and make sure that this fic makes some kind of sense. Read and Review!

WARNING-THIS IS A DARK FIC AND DOES CONTAIN SLASH! PAIRINGS ARE CALEB/REID AND POGUE/TYLER. THIS CONTAINS ABUSE, SUICIDE, DRUG ABUSE AND ALCOHOL ABUSE. IF THINGS OF THIS NATURE SEVERELY DISTURB YOU, DO US BOTH A FAVOR AND DO NOT READ!

Sorry for the all caps, but I figured that would do to get the point across.

Summery-As the rhyme goes, sometimes people are too shattered to piece back together again. But when it comes to Reid Garwin, Caleb refuses to accept that possibility. The only problem is, he has no idea where to start gluing. Caleb/Reid, Pogue/Tyler

Disclaimer-I own nothing but the Plot, so no coming after me for the funds I don't have.

Chapter One-As it All Falls Down

It was slightly poetic, that it was all ending in the rain.

After all, that's where it started.

One rainy day to another, the Life and Times of one Reid Garwin was coming to an end....and not soon enough in his opinion. Reid picked his eyes up from where they were staring at the Athame in his hands, glancing around the room he had chosen to make his last stand in.

So many memories, some many late nights sitting up, reading over the Book, laughing about what they would do when they had the Power. Of course, back then it all had to do with Using to see up the back of a girls skirt or cheating on exams. None of them realized exactly what the Power was, other than a way to make life easy.

The others had realized it, and managed to fight back their addictions.

Unfortunately Reid was a day late and a dollar short coming to that important little piece of reality. He was hopelessly Addicted, the Rush he got from Using being the only thing that got him through each and everyday.

Along with getting him through other things.

And that was the real crux of the situation. He had used as long and as hard as he had for the one simple reason that having as much control over the Power had saved his life, gotten him through situations that many other people wouldn't survive.

“Reid?” The footsteps, along with that oh-so-familiar voice sounded from the upper floor of the Danvers Colony house and Reid didn't know whether he should be glad that someone was coming to save him from himself, or upset that his master plan of going out on his own terms at his own time of choice was getting screwed up, once again. “Reid? Where are you Hotshot?”

Hotshot.....

Reid frowned at the connotations that the name brought to mind and brought the Athame down to his wrists at the same time.

He wasn't Hotshot, not anymore, if he ever was.

Hotshot was smart, and brave, and could beat anything.

Hotshot wasn't a little bitch who went home and drank, Used, and smoked himself into a stupor just so he could deal with Mommy Dearest.

Hotshot would have told someone a long time ago....

Hotshot wouldn't be bleeding out on the most sacred ground the Covenant had because he couldn't handle him mommy smacking him down a little.

He was Reid,

Just Reid.....

and he was dying.

The footsteps got louder and closer, coming down the stairs, just as Reid came to the conclusion that like it or not, planned or not, he had gotten what he wanted and his life was leaking out on to the dirt floor.

He had hoped that no one would find him until it was all over, and he was beyond the pain that living his life brought, no matter how much of a cop-out ending it was.

He had also hoped that Caleb wouldn't be the one to find him, or at least not alone.

Seeing Reid dead would hurt Caleb, and that was the last thing that Reid ever wanted to do....

But he really saw no other way.

The blond leaned his head against the stone behind him, his eyes fixed on the staircase. At least this way, he would have one good image in his brain as he left on his merry Journey to Hell.

Yep...the devil and he were going to get along just fine...after all, it wasn't often that someone had training in how to handle hell before they got there......

“REID!” Uh-oh, Caleb must have seen him. Reid gave an insane little giggle as the thought crossed his mind, the blood loss making him loopier much more quickly than he would have anticipated. As Caleb made his way across the floor quicker than Reid thought he had ever seen his lover move, Reid had the passing thought that maybe, just maybe, this wasn't the brightest idea that he had ever come up with. He had thought that going to hell would be a much better plan than staying on Earth and facing certain old-age...well, in a way. But now that Caleb was in front of him, a look of pain so deep on his face that it cut Reid deeper than the knife that had taken his life, he was thinking that it wasn't that bright.

After all, Caleb wasn't going to be in Hell, never would be, and he was all that made life worth living, at all. No matter how many times they fought, or how many times Reid thought that it would be so much easier to just go back to his womanizing ways and leave the slice of happiness that he had found behind, he never did.

Because when it came down to it, Caleb meant more to him than anything else on the planet. He gave a crooked grin as he watched his lover rip off his tie and hurriedly wrap it around his bleeding wrist.

“Think I screwed up big this time Cay. Too big to fix.” It came out as a croak and Reid frowned. He couldn't be bleeding out that fast, could he? It had to take longer......or had he been staring into space longer than he thought he had...either thought was slightly depressing.

Caleb gave a shaky laugh and pressed the makeshift bandage tighter to Reid's wrist. Reid could see the want to Use, the want to Use the power that was now his life force to force Reid's blood back into his veins and seal the wound...but he couldn't. The Power couldn't be Used to heal another of the bloodlines....it was a law and taboo older than any of them knew....and the Power even seemed to agree...like it wanted to have some sort of limitation.

But it was times like this that that rule sucked majorly.

“Don't say that baby, you're gonna be fine. The Ambulance is on its way, we just have to slow the bleeding.” Baby....Caleb never called him Baby....unless he was wrapped in his lovers arms crying his eyes out....or he was dying. It didn't take a genius to figure out which circumstances this situation fell under.

“No, I'm not Cay. You know it.......I know it.....” Each word was becoming harder to force out and it was getting more and more difficult to get his brain cells to fire. “Why...not just....accept it.” Caleb shook his head angrily and pressed his hands tighter against the bandage, leaning his foreheads against Reid's.

“You.Will.Be.Fine. “ The words were growled out from between clenched teeth, and Reid had no doubt that Caleb would fight to hold on to him as long as possible...because Caleb was a stubborn son of a bitch and didn't like to accept the fact that he couldn't save everyone.

But this time, he was going to have to accept that he wasn't Superman, and that he couldn't save everyone no matter how much he wished he could.

Reid just hated that he was going to have to be the one to teach him that.

But that didn't mean that he had to go out in a total sob-fest. He could at least say the three little words that he had never been able to bring him self to say.

After all, its slightly pointless to say I love you to someone when you don't even really know what love is.

But he knew now, even when it was really too late, that he did love Caleb...perhaps always had.

The least he could do was make sure that the other boy knew that.

Reid opened his eyes tiredly, more than ready to go into the long night, and smiled. “Cay?” Caleb focused on him intently, his hands still wrapped around Reid's bleeding wrist.

“Yeah, Hotshot?”

“I love you.” Reid let his eyes slip back shut after those three little words forced themselves through his teeth, letting himself spiral gratefully into the dark bliss of unconsciousness. If he had any luck at all...he wouldn't wake back up.
