Good Never Comes Without Getting The Bad

She was in her favorite outfit as she held into an old time looking stuffed bear. The shorts were a pair from the guy section of the swim department and the spaghetti strap shirt she was wearing she had taken from the aunt of her friend, who had been to big to fit inside it even though she thought she could. She liked the shirt because it blended in better with the black bra that she loved to wear. Her medium brown hair fell in her face as she listened to Stay Fly by Three 6 Mafia, not one of her favorite songs but she could not argue that she needed an upbeat melody.
She was sitting at her lap top drinking her favorite tea, green tea, with more sugar than should be aloud in one cup. This was to ensure that she stayed up as long as possible, because she had decided that she did not want to fall to sleep too early. In all reality she did not want to go to sleep at all. It was weird for her to just be so scared of something, but this was different then the paranormal stuff she was used to. It had barely had anything to do with the power that was flowing through her at the moment or the loving gift placed at her feet when she was five.
She wasn’t sure what it was she was supposed to think about what was happening around her or what was happening in her nightmares. It was creepy and she knew that whatever it was that was happening wasn’t happening in quiet, wet Ireland. She couldn’t get rid of the thought that she needed to be back in the states and it was pulling her closer and closer to going over the edge than anything that she had ever felt before. She was sure that this was going to be the reason that she went insane or got thrown out of the inn that she had bought for the month.
She let out a long and sad sigh as she stared at the document that was staring back at her as if her life depended on it. The Word document held everything she had been thinking right up until the latest thought that she had after her fingers had stopped moving on the key board. The new thought was one that didn’t need to be written down, because it was with her everyday and it was almost a haunting reminder of why she was still here and what was going to happen if she couldn’t pull herself together to go back to see the only thing that was holding her together still.
She looked at the small scaled portrait that her father had given to her when he had visited two years before. It was the only one that had her complete family on it minus her little brother, who hadn’t even been thought of yet. Her little brother was so happy and she missed seeing the smile that kept her going when she had nothing left to put one foot in front of the other for. It was something that she found comfort in knowing that her little brother would believe in her no matter what anyone tried to put in his little head. He loved her for her just being herself and that is what made it all better when he ran up to her and smiled when she was crying or on the verge of breaking down. She didn’t have that here so the updated smiling picture would have to be sufficient enough to help her keep it together.
She blew a strand of brown hair out of her face and kept staring at the document as she read and reread every single thing on it as she tried to comprehend what it was trying to tell her. It was starting to grow quite annoying that as she grew up all her nightmares got more cryptic than putting it right out there for her to see as if someone had draw her a picture and shoved it in her face. She pushed that thought aside for the moment as she looked over at her alarm clock, she quickly realized that she hadn’t reset it from the last power outage four hours and twenty-three minutes before hand, before she picked up her cell phone to read that is was two fourteen in the morning that she needed to be somewhere at three in the afternoon which meant she needed to get up in about six hours to be full comprehensible, also to get information that she had neglected to the last minute to get.
She removed herself from the semi-comfy bed that she was sitting on and moved over to her dresser to put some more clothes in the storage container as she pondered the dream over in her head. She was more or less trying to wait for a reply from her friend that she was sure she wasn’t going to get until about ten in the morning. She gave into account that Ireland was a five hour time difference, so when talking to her friends she had to subtract five hours from her time to get a pretty accurate time for where they were located at. She removed the clothing from her dresser only to put them back in there and realized that she was too tired to mess with that kind of thing, but also that if she put it off too many times that she’d never know where anything was.
She sighed at any decision that she was going to make would result in her being extremely tired in the morning. She decided she’d pack a few things from the one dresser before she sat back down at her laptop to type whatever it was that she came up with for the nightmare’s analysis. She chuckled to herself as she sat back down at the fact that she had gotten quite good at analyzing her own dreams as well as other people’s. It was more than a hobby that was there to keep her busy; she concluded as she typed again that it had become like a profession and one that you see quite often she would have to say.
She logged onto her AOL Instant Messenger as a last minute check on people thing before she turned in to the bed that was calling her name, or that she thought the covers were screaming for her to get under them. An annoying trait was that she would occasionally make something so innocent seem so nasty. She smiled as she saw a familiar name pop up at her. The AIM user’s name was Eldest_S_O_I, but she knew who it really was.
“Awe look at what the baby dragged out of bed,” she typed and got the response she was looking for.
“Yeah, I was dragged. Baby, you happened to text me so I got out of bed reluctantly to find out what you needed.”
Neither of them was into the whole cell text/instant messaging talk this early in the morning or late in the evening in his case. “I am sorry if I woke you. I just needed to know if things were all right there. Something has me so out of it that I am just not sleeping like I used too. Is everything ok? Or is there reason for me to worry about the four of you?”
“No need to worry about us here. Just keep up with yourself when it comes to that. That’s all you can do. Have you checked in with your father or your little brother? They might be the cause of your worry since the last time you talked to them you hung up on your father, because you didn‘t think he was letting you rule your own life in what you did or what you wanted to do.”
“Maybe you’re right, but that will have to wait until later this morning to find out, because I am signing off now. I love you, Caleb. Please tell the others, that the baby has not had a chance to drag out of bed while sleeping, that I love them as well and miss them dearly. I am really serious about turning in for the night this time too, unlike last night.”
“I shall tell them, Kriys. Keep your chin up. It may just be that you are upset about leaving the connection with your father and brother cut off for so long. We miss you as well, and I can tell you that off the top of my head because I just heard it earlier today. We look forward to a visit from you sometime soon. Ipswich really hasn’t changed much since you left, except that it is missing the biggest part of what made it a home.”
“Thank you, Caleb. I shall talk to you tonight. Hugs and kisses to you all. Just don’t really give them kisses for me. I would be seeing as how that would give me cause to worry about your sexual orientation.”
“Wouldn’t want to give you cause to question my sexuality, now would I? Considering you have all ready gone slash on me. Gets some sleep, Angel. The sun can wait to tell you hello in a morning that shall possibly be filled with rain.”
“Bye, Caleb.”
As she signed off she noticed that she hadn’t felt any better talking to Caleb than she had before she signed on. She shook her head as she told herself that it didn’t matter either way, because sooner or later the feeling would pass. Either that or it would make her pass out from exhaustion, which in her case might not be such a bad thing. It would give her a chance to rest and to keep her cousin off her back about running around to do this or to do that before her Greek costume party in about a week.
She thought it was odd that her cousin was throwing a costume party for her birthday bash instead of on her own birthday, which was closer to Halloween it was now. She didn’t care though, because she had found a really beautiful dress that was matching to Megara’s, but was a different color than purple. She wrinkled her nose at the thought of wearing a purple dress, but decided that she didn’t like the color pink either. Her dress was beautiful, but she thought it was the color that was the problem and she didn’t argue with her cousin when she had ordered the pink instead of the pretty blue one.
She didn’t care because she didn’t think it was a good idea to argue with the party host. Even thought it was going to be her party it might as well be her cousin’s and since she was taking the time to actually plan and coordinate an arrangement that involved months of work on her part and tons of last minute decisions, she’d let her cousin be. At least she was still talking to her and that was the one thing that she needed the most at the moment. It was like nothing seemed to be going right.
She sighed and took one last look at the clock which now read three thirty. She grabbed the bear she had been holding earlier and moved it closer to her, so when she felt like she was falling asleep she could just grab him and hold him tight. She felt like it wouldn’t be a good night sleep if she didn’t have him near or with her at all times. It was a comfort thing for her and she couldn’t help but feel lost without him. She looked around the room and felt she wasn’t at home at all. It was like some strange presence was keeping her from making this her home like she wanted too.
Her eyes grew heavy as sleep called to her to bring her into a far away place that needed not to have any specific name. She knew that whatever this sleep brought her would be her final decision as to what she planned on doing the next morning or later on that day. It was clear to her that she was about to be taken into the oblivion in which she had absolutely no control over. It would be a scary dimension full of fright, tragedy, and possibly an unforeseen death. She thought about how she knew all that all ready as she made the final transaction into the slumber that waited just between the covers.
It came close to bringing her a sweet thought of something wonderful actually happening, and she knew that at the time it was the closest that she would get to seeing them in her dreams if at all. She watched as the peaceful scene danced before her eyes as it created a place of serenity for her alone to escape to. Her family and her friends did not worry her here nor did they really exist in the serenity of this peaceful place. In all reality she knew what was really going on and what was bound to happen although she wasn‘t sure what it would actually be. She could actually say that she knew all too well that good never comes without getting the bad.
