Chapter 10

Chapter 10
Nadia stood there in a daze, she couldn’t move. Soon, her confusion turned to anger.
She was fuming mad. Riddick left her to fend for herself and he had the balls to
show up here, seeking her help.

"You left me!!" She said contemplating slapping him upside his head.

She didn’t care if he was asleep. She pulled her side
arm from the dip of her back and aimed it at him.

"Wake Up!!" She screamed, nudging him with the gun. In that instant, she felt like
Scott.

"Wake up!!" She screamed again.

Riddick opened his eyes, to the open barrel of a gun. Like clock work he
knocked the gun from her hand, flipped her over and had his shiv at her throat. Nadia felt the hard, cold blade on her throat and began to tear up.

"How could you, Riddie? How could you leave me?" She asked sobbing.

"You? You’re trying to kill me? After I lost 10 years of freedom. Do you know what
it was like? No, you don’t. You forgot about me when they dragged me out of the
house kicking and screaming. You forgot about me and you are trying to kill me?" He asked.

Riddick’s hand tightened up around the blade. He could see blood pooling on its
edge.

"I should do it. I should ghost your ass for taking 10 years of my life." He said enraged.

"No, I’m sorry. I tried to tell the Blackwell’s that you didn’t do it. I tried but I
was afraid for my life and yours. I never forgot you Riddie but my hands were
tied." She pleaded.

"What do you mean you feared for my life?" He asked curiously.

"I was afraid that instead of locking you up, they would kill you on site. That Dylan
would make good on her promise to have you killed and ultimately have me kicked
out on the street. But I ended up on the street anyway due to her abuse. I never
forgot about you Riddie. You were always with me." She replied.

"I was always with you but you didn’t know me from Adam when I came to your
door." He retorted.

"I was in an accident and I lost my memory. That’s why I didn’t recognize you." She informed.

"So why the hell did you wake me up with a gun to my head? If you didn’t know
who I was?" He asked.

"Because you called me and when you called me Nadi, it all came back to me." She said.

"I was all wrong then." Riddick said removing his shiv from Nadia’s neck.

"And so was I." She retorted.

Riddick grabbed some Kleenex, wiped the blood from her neck and helped her up.

“So, what do we do now?" Nadia asked.

Riddick scolded himself for how he thought to answer that question. His mind had been in the gutter since the night that he saw her under that streetlight. Nadia turned to walk out of the door and
paused.

"So, I guess you ending up on my door step was a coincidence, right?" She asked.

"No, not entirely. I was sorta looking for you." He admitted.

"Explain to me, how do you sorta look for someone?" Nadia asked.

"I was looking for you. You see I saw you, outside my window one night. I live on
planet Deep. I looked out of my window and you were standing under a street
light." Riddick said.

"How do you know it was me?" She asked.

"Well, I sorta followed you." Riddick said.

"Once again, how do you sorta follow someone." Nadia asked.

"Okay, Okay I followed you and then I came here. I had to see you. I wanted to
talk to you. No, I came here to ghost you. If those damned Merc’s wouldn’t have followed and chased me into the woods, I wouldn’t have gotten all beat up and been vulnerable." He boldly confessed.

"You, kill me!!? Nadia asked laughing. "Please, I would have had you for breakfast."
Literally she thought.

"Now aren’t we a little cocky. Someone sure helped you rebuild your self esteem."
He said smiling.

"Hellz yeah! Life on the streets did. The streets shattered the scarred shell that I hid in. A sista had to butch up or I would have been easy prey. That my dear Riddie wasn't an option." She admitted.

"I am sorry Nadi. I can only imagine how it was for you living on the streets. The kind of degrading things you'd have to do to survive. Did you have to..?" He could barely ask the question.

"Now don't you go there. You know you taught me better then that."

"That's my girl." Riddick said, wrapping his arms around her neck and kissing her forehead.

"So they finally let you out, huh?" Nadia asked, elbowing Riddick in the chops.

"Sorta." Riddick said, rubbing his side.

"Here we go again with this sorta stuff." Nadia said shaking her head and leaving the room. "I need a drink."

Riddick followed closely, went into the living room and stretched out on the sofa. Nadia poured them both a drink, she went into the living room and sat down beside him. Riddick was grateful for the chance to wet his whistle again. He prepared to tell her about his sorted past. Riddick told Nadia about the horror of slam and how he escaped from its torturous wrath. His tale left Nadia speechless with all the raw emotion stirring up inside of her. Riddick looked down the entire time because he was afraid to see the pity in her beautiful eyes. She then wrapped her loving arms around him, kissed his cheek and said, " It's okay Riddie your home now. You have found your way back to me."
