We meet again

Chapter 10: We meet again.

Saia runs across the hall to her son’s room. Jason is screaming at the top of his lungs. She grabs his shoulders and begins to shake him trying to wake him up. Instinctively he latches on to her and begins to sob.

“Oh, honey it was just a bad dream. It’s over now” Saia consoles him.

Jason looks up at her and shakes his head, “No mom, its not a dream. Something bad happened to Aunt J. . .She’s gone!’ he begins to cry again and Saia holds him remaining silent. Doc looks on from the bedroom door, listening and saying a silent prayer for Jack.

After looking for any clues to Jack’s disappearance, Riddick jumps in the dune buggy.

“Hold up!” Deacon runs out from his room, with is backpack full of ammo and weapons.

Riddick drives relying on his instincts alone. They head out towards downtown. On their way, they pass some unusual looking teens. The youths just stare at them intently and whisper amongst each other. Soon enough Riddick and Deacon reach an abandoned manor. The windows are boarded up and from outside it seems barren. To the untrained eye that is.

Deacon looks back and forth from the building to Riddick, “ Is she in there?”

Riddick cocks his head to the side, “No, but there’s someone here who knows where she is” they both step out and head inside.

Once inside, there are doors on both sides of the hallway. The first few rooms they search are empty. Junkies and what look like whores occupy a few of the other rooms. Deacon comes upon a set of heavy metal doors. He cocks his head to the side signaling to Riddick that he’s going to check it out. When he opens the door the room is very dark, only the light from the hall illuminates the huge room. Deacon sees something crouched in a far corner.

“Please don’t hurt me,” an infant voice pleads. Deacon takes out his flashlights and points it towards the child. A little girl sits hugging her knees. Her bloody, tear stricken face and exhausted appearance are obvious to Deacon.

Deacon looks around making sure the little girl is alone, “Is anyone else in here with you?” she shakes her head no. Deacon extends his hand out to her, she hesitates at first, but after Deacon reassures her that he’s a friend she takes his hand and stands up.

Riddick catches up to Deaand and smiles sadly at the little girl; she reminds him of Rhianna. Riddick asks her where her parents are, but she simply looks down and remains silent. They keep going deeper into the mansion, Deacon holding the little girls hand. They come into a large square room. No lights, no doors, it seems to be a dead end. From behind them a hidden door closes throwing them into pitch-blackness.

Simultaneously a red light comes on from above. The little girl begins to fidget and Deacon loses his grip on her hand.

“She’s here, I have to go” her voice full of panic, she runs and disappears into the shadows.

“Wait” Deacon tries to run after her, but Riddick stops him.

“She’s not going anywhere,” Riddick tells Deacon.

“And neither are you two” a female voice interrupts. The lights are switched on and they are surrounded by hundreds of bodies, men, women and children.
Deacon and Riddick stand with their backs together waiting for an attack, but they seem to just be staring and studying them.

“Jesus what is that smell?” Deacon asks covering his nose.

“Ammonia” Riddick says calmly.

The crowd begins to separate, making way for someone, “Close, very close, but no cigar” she walks towards them in bare feet, wearing a long hunter green sheer dress that clings to all of her curves. Deacon recognizes her immediately; how could he forget!
