Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Dom kept his back to the counter and watched Sam storm away.
Vince ambled over to the counter and looked down.
“Cute kid.” He muttered before heading to the cool box that had the coroners in it.
“Look at the picture.” Mia spoke softly to Dom but he shook his head.
He didn’t want to see Sam’s child, he didn’t want to know that her life had gone on when she had left him.
“Look at the fucking picture.” Mia almost screamed and Dom blinked at her, Mia rarely swore, a feeling a dread settled into his chest and he stayed still for a few more seconds.
Finally he turned and let his glance fall down.
A boy. A little boy, who without a doubt was a Toretto. His son.
A scream of frustration and anger escaped his chest as he drew his fist back and punched the flimsy wall of the van.
“Son of a bitch!” he roared and dove for the door.
“No Dom.” Mia caught him and held him back.
“She’ll be back, just give her some time.” Mia reasoned.
All of the fight seemed to go out of him and he staggered back to the counter, he picked up the picture and slumped down the wall. He let his arms rest on his knees as he stared at the picture.
Sam heard the roar as she walked away from the van but she couldn’t bring herself to turn around and go back. She walked to one of the bonfires and sat down, staring into the dancing flames she let herself remember how all this shit had happened.

“Jesus, why won’t you leave me alone?” Sam griped as she tried to ignore Tony’s horny son.
She had been at the garage for three weeks now and most of the time Dom liked to follow her around and give her hell.
“Because you look really hot in overalls.” Dom answered with a straight face.
Sam looked down at her self, the top half of her overalls were tied around her waist and she was wearing a wife beater. Grease stained her hands and arms and her hair was tied back in a messy ponytail.
“I told you, I’m not going out with you, you’re not my type.” Sam spoke firmly trying to show conviction that wasn’t quite true.
She liked him, more than liked him but she knew what he was like, girls turned up at the garage and called all the time, hell she had even lied to a girl for him once.
Dom snorted.
“I am so you’re type, I see you looking at me when you think I’m not looking. Come on one date, I’m going to the track with my dad this weekend, I’m gonna race.” The excitement in his voice was clear, and Sam understood it.
Racing was something that Dominic Toretto lived for; he hoped to follow in his fathers foot steps. Where Tony only saw it as something fun to do Dom wanted to go all the way.
Sam smiled at him before walking back to the car she was working on.
“I’m going anyway. I’m racing too, just something to get me started.” Sam confided and she grinned at the shocked look on his face.
Just for added shock value she stood up and stretched her arms above her head and arched her back in a deliberate stretch. She watched as Dom’s eyes fixated on her chest and he licked his lips.
“And I’m going with Leon.” She added lowering her arms.
Dom’s face swung up sharply as he sought out her eyes. A dark look clouded his features and he muttered something before stalking away.
Sam chuckled as she watched him stalk off. Leon was a decent guy and he had asked her to go with him, Sam didn’t want anything serious and he seemed happy with the arrangement. She stubbornly refused to acknowledge that it had anything to do with torturing Dom.
The race track was packed and Sam wandered around the pit chatting to various people. Tony caught up with her and pulled her into a rough hug.
“Are you ready to kick ass?” he asked with a huge grin.
The man was on a serious high, he had wiped the floor with everyone in his own race. Dominic had won the under 21’s race and now it was her turn. There was no category for her race; basically it was the newbies trying to show there stuff.
Sam was terrified; her body shook as Tony held her.
“No?” she warbled and Tony laughed.
“You’ll be fine Hellcat.” Tony assured her and she smiled at the use of his pet name for her.
He had started calling her that when Dom had cornered her in her first week, she had her arms full of cans when he tried to grope her. Sam had retaliated by opening a can of oil and dumping it all over him.
He led her to the car she was using and helped her into it. The actual event of the race was still a blur, a hazy montage of images and sounds. She remembered the sound of the engines revving, she remembered the feel of the air blowing in her face and she remembered being dragged out of the car and swung around by Tony, with everyone cheering.
And she remembered the feeling of winning when Dom lifted her off the ground and planted a hard kiss on her mouth.
She remembered in vivid detail however, the same night when they partied. Leon had picked her up and drove to Tony’s house where the party was in full swing.
He helped her out of the car and stood in front of her. he smoothed her hair out of her face and smiled gently.
“I know what your doing.” He confided.
“Excuse me?” Sam questioned.
“Dom.” Leon had answered and she felt the blood rush to her face. Ok, so she wanted to drive him nuts, but she didn’t expect to get caught so soon.
“I’m cool with it; I get to make out with a really hot chick.” Leon answered and Sam chuckled.
She watched as his face inched closer to hers.
The next thing she knew she was being dragged away from Leon. She looked down at the hand on her arm and then back up at the grim face of Dominic Toretto.
“What the fuck are you doing?” she demanded when she managed to free her arm.
“If he touches you I’ll kill him.” Dom ground out.
Sam drew in a big breath to tell him to go to Hell when he grabbed her and smashed his mouth down on hers.
And that had been the start of them.
