Chapter 10

CHAPTER 10/32

DeepToothDev’s P.O.V

I was thrown into a tree and got tangled up in some branches. I stopped groaning and fighting my way out when I heard voices below me. It was Angel and I could hear his plan clearly. I let out a quiet yet still very evil growl as they walked off through The Shinning. When I thought I could follow them without being detected, I scrambled out of the tree. My feet hit the ground and I sprinted quietly towards Angel and his crew.

I recognized the others but there was a new guy with them. Hmm, didn’t notice him at the hotel. I guess I was too occupied watching those losers get their a$$es kicked. He was tall, bald, and stunningly handsome. I surprised myself for getting aroused by this new comer because he was consorting with the enemy. I couldn’t help but admire his muscular form. They began to stop; it seemed the crew needed a rest. I could understand because I was growing tired myself.

Back To Riddick And Crew

They all sat around thinking to themselves as they rested up to finish the hike.

Suddenly, Angel spoke up Cari, how much further?”

"Not much further. I am leading us to a very tall structure about 3 miles off. I don’t know what it is but it's the only thing here for miles," Riddick said.

"Cari, you said the last time that you saw this Jack, it was in "Bora, Bora." So, you want to tell us where you two met?" Cordy asked with concern.

"It's a long story," Riddick barked.

The only thing on his mind right now was getting to Jack.

"Humor us," Angel said.

"A few months ago I was in transport to slam in Alpha Sector when our ship’s captain was killed by a meteor shower. We crash-landed on a planet somewhere in between. It turned out this planet was inhabited by nocturnal creatures that fed on everything in sight. The planet had three suns and, with my bad luck, they all eclipsed at the same time. We lost a lot of men and women. Fortunately, this kid, a holy man and I beat the odds; we made it off the planet. I lead them back to a settlement where we found a skiff,” he confessed.

Just then, they heard the crackle of a branch snapping.

"We've been followed," Riddick said softly.

Ripping off his goggles and scanning the terrain, the group got their first glimpse of his altered eyes.

"It's just a fox," he said turning back to the group.

"Okay guys let’s get going," Angel said.

They walked off into the darkness.
DeepToothDev now knew why she was in this God-awful place. They were looking for someone named Jack.. They better pray she doesn't find her first.

The crew marched on, Riddick lead the way. As they reached the structure, they saw that a large ditch surrounded it. Standing back, they all wondered how they were going to cross it. They decided to just walk through it since there was no water residing there. It was just a grassy ditch. Just as they started to cross, Angel stopped them.

"It's a trap. I mean this is too easy. Think about it, when you see moots anywhere they are filled with something to keep people from getting in. What makes this one any different?" Angel asked.

"I don't see anything," Wes said.

"Sure, but that doesn't mean that there's nothing there,” Angel retorted.

Angel picked up a stick and tossed it into the ditch. All of a sudden the ground came alive and man-eating plants snapped the stick in half.

"Now what are we going to do?" they all asked in unison.

They all sat back to think for a second.

Gunn spoke up this time. "Think about the chant guys. Up Jumps da boogie, so maybe we have to jump it?”

Riddick picked up another stick and hurled it across the moot and it hit the ground unharmed.

"So that's it, we need to jump it," Riddick remarked.

One by one they all flew over the moot to safety.

"Hey, look over there," Kelly said as she pointed to her right.

Everyone turned around to see what had gotten her attention. What they saw was a sight for shined eyes.
