Yummish
Part Eleven
He sat at the cafe. He put the usual twenty on the table. She poured the usual cup of black coffee that he never drank. He waited.
“Are you going to taste it?” She slid the cup towards him.
“Delete.”
“Smith.”
“I do not need that.” He indicated the cup on the table.
“What do you need?”
His eyes flashed at her. Sheled.led.
“I do not need you. Leave.” He commanded.
She pouted at him. She vanished.
He looked around for her. He waited. The day passed into evening. He watched the humans walk by and considered toying with them but that was not interesting any more. He watched as a young couple walked by holding hands. They leaned into each other and smiled and laughed. He felt a strange emptiness.
“Delete?” He said.
She appeared on his lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck. “I missed you too.” She smiled and kissed him.
“Do not do that.”
“Physical intimacy is about the heart and mind as much as the body.”
“I do not have a heart.”
“Not your physical heart Smith.”
“There is no other.”
“But there is Smith, and you have it, and it is real.”
He growled at her.
“Are you hungry yet?”
“I do not eat.”
“Do you taste?”
“I do not taste.”
She licked his lips. “You taste yummish to me.”
“Yummish is not a word.”
poutpouted. “I say you taste yummish, so you do.”
“Just because you say it does not make it so.”
“What is real Smith?”
He pressed his lips on hers.
“Mmmm” she moaned. “More.”
‘Report.’
He stood up and she fell on the ground.
He returned to the complex.
‘Report.’
‘No new observation to report.’
‘You have been ordered to observe and report.’
Smith growled at Brown. ‘You are not my superior. I will report to the mainframe.’
