Still Waters

Book 3

Chapter 11

M’Pa didn’t stop moving till he was safe in the Elder’s quarters, there, he gently laid El in her bed, purring all down her belly. Her breathing was quick, as she tried to keep from crying, and soon Ver’On joined them, adding his own comforting purrs to sooth her.

Ter’Oth arrived shortly after, chasing M’Pa away to examine the babies. Once she was calm, he drew the two males aside. “What in the Gods possessed you to take her out there!!?” he scolded.

Both males squared their shoulders, but it was Ver’On who spoke. “She had to go. It was the law. All precautions were taken. M’Pa and I carried her, though her walking around was her own doing.”

“I was not far from her when she did,” M’Pa stated. “I told her to remain seated, but she insisted. She said she felt restless, and uncomfortable.”

“I don’t care what she said!” Ter’Oth practically screamed. “She’s not to walk around PERIOD!!”

“We will make sure she knows this,” Ver’On replied.

“How is she?” M’Pa asked.

Ter’Oth pocketed his scanner. “The little ones have moved to optimal birthing position. Once still has not turned, but that will not matter with how they will come out. I want her in the infirmary as soon as we get back.”

“She will be.”

“She will insist on her one stop,” M’Pa reminded quietly.

“No!” Ter’Oth snapped. “No more! She is not to move unless to the clan ship’s infirmary.”

“NO!!!” El cried nearly getting to her feet, before the three could get to her. “Ver’On! You promised!! Please!!!”

“El…”

“Ter’Oth, please!! He promised! I only want a few minutes. I promise I’ll sit! I wont’ walk around. I won’t even stand up. PLEASE!!!”

“Where is this place?” Ter’Oth asked, looking through his kit for anything he could use to know her out, but finding nothing that would be weak enough to accomplish the task.

“The canyon where we first fought. Her guardian’s have placed a seat there,” Ver’On replied. “Promises are all she has to hold us to our honor, as well as herself. I have never broken one to her, and I don’t intend to start now.”

“Please Ter’Oth!!!”

“ALRIGHT!!!” he bellowed, to be heard over El’s cries. “As long as you swear not to get to your feet!”

“I wont. Someone will have to hold a gun to me and my babies to make me get up.”

“And there will be no one there,” M’Pa stated. “We’ll make sure of that.”

“I will hold you to that,” Ter’Oth warned, then turned to El. “Rest easy. Your babies could come at any time. I will check in on you later. For now, lay quietly.”

“I will. Thank you.”

Just then there was a frantic knock on the door. Ter’Oth watched the two males gather close to El, sense he was leaving anyway, he’d have to see himself to the door, and take care of any guests for the elder as he left. The door opened to one of the young bloods. “What? The elder and his mates are NOT to be disturbed.”

“I’m sorry Healer, but it is you that I seek. There is an urgent message coming for you from the clan ship.” Ter’Oth bowed quickly to Ver’On, then left.

“Are we all gona live together?” Sam asked, as he viewed the huge number of Yautja around him.

“We will,” Kal replied, “but not here. This is just a transport vessel. Our main ship is in orbit, not far from this world.”

“We’re really going into space!” Sam nearly screeched, as his mother gently inspected the wound on his arm, identical to her own.

“Yes, my little one. We are. There is just one more thing that we must take care of first, from what I hear.”

“Will you always wear that mask?”

“Sam, not so many questions,” Aubrey stated, holding his shoulder, hoping that this huge alien would forgive him for chatting so much.

“It is alright,” he purred to her. “This is all new to him. It is my responsibility now, to be sure that the two of you can adapt to life with us. As for my mask, little one, yes, I do have to wear it for a while. Until I can secure personal translators for you and your mother, we will not be able to understand each other with out it.” Sam nodded, his eyes suddenly going wide as a pair of younger males walked by, carrying bloody sacks of human sculls. Softly he rapped an arm around Kal’s neck, trying not to look too scared.

“Those people that were down there,” Aubrey asked, “who where they?”

“The woman you spoke with is El, Elder Ver’On’s mate. Her second mate is M’Pa, the male that carried her away. From what I can gather, the two male Oomans that were there are her father, and her mentor, the woman, I would guess is the new mate to Tan’ock.”

“Do you always come here looking for a wife?” she asked, a bit more sarcastic than she would have liked.

Kal abruptly stopped, and placed Sam on the floor, stopping one of the unbloods as he approached. “Care for my son till I come for him. I must have words with my mate.”

The unblood nodded, and guided the boy away, clicking excitedly as he joined some of his friends, patting the boy’s shoulder, showing the trust he was already given by an honor class warrior. His friends were envious.

“You trust my son with those guys!”

Kal at once began to purr, walking her back to a depression in the wall. He could tell her heart rate jumped, he could see the throbbing vein in her neck increase in speed. He could smell her scent change, excited, a bit of fear, but tinged with curiosity. How he wanted to take her right then and there, slam her small body down on his flesh, send her to the heights of ecstasy before any could even breathe. As he gently traced his claws up and down her arm, he stilled his thoughts. This ship had very few truly private rooms. The only one he knew where he would not be disturbed, would be the Elder’s quarters, but he doubted that he’d be allowed in there. “First, your son, is now my son. I would not trust him with just anyone. All aboard this ship know who I am, they know this symbol, and if anything happened to MY SON…” he had to calm his growl, as she nearly crawled the wall when he let it slip, “they know I would not be please, and many would be hurt…or dead.” Aubrey swallowed hard.

“As for my coming to your world, for any of us having an Ooman female mate, that is our choice. El went of her own choice, as did the other female I’m sure. You…I have sought long and hard for. I watched you as you worked, I even traveled in your vehicle, such as it was, to be sure you were safe. I watched over you as you slept, I protected you from those who would have done you harm. I would not do all of that, if all I wanted to do was to rape you!”

“Ok, ok, I get it.”

“No, I don’t think you do. You are my mate now, by offering of your son, by your own acceptance. The only thing we have not done, is to mate. That we must wait till our return to the clan ship.” Kal looked up as he saw Ter’Oth hurry by, something must have been wrong for him to hurry like that. but from the absence of a certain pregnant female, it had to be something else. Once he was out of ear shot, he continued with Aubrey. “For now, we shall be together. You shall learn about my people, you will learn about me. I can already tell your body wants me, but I will not take a female to my bed as a mate that does not want me with her heart as well.”

“I think,” she began in a whisper, “because it’s been a while for me…”

“…Quite a while.”

“…that just being together for a little while, would be a good idea. But would you mind, I’d like to get my…our…son, I don’t like him hanging around guys with bloody human skulls in bags.”

“He will see more of that now that you are with me, but for now, I see your wisdom. He would be fearful.”

“Thank you.”

Ter’Oth practically shattered the console for the communications system. The only reason the ship would be calling, is if something was wrong with Lee’tha. “This is Ter’Oth!” he growled, more anxious than anything else.

This is Sa’ton. Lee’tha is in labor. By the time you return, Ter’Oth, your son, or daughter, will be here to greet you.”

Ter’Oth puffed his chest to the point the straps of his armor hurt, and let out a how of joy and pride the likes of which no one had ever heard.

He could just imagine every set of eyes turning to the direction the sound of his cry came from, and the hearty congratulations he’d receive from all as he walked the halls.

He could also just see Sa’ton, in his sarcastic manor, rubbing his ear canal to hear better after the ringing in his ears cleared.

I will be sure she receives your message. Sa’ton out.”

There was a certain strut to his walk after that, and every Yautja on board saw it, and Ter’Oth made sure everyone saw him.

The room remained dark and quiet, the only sound was that of soft purrs whenever El moved, or made a sound. It seemed to take forever to get to their final destination. Longer than it did the first time. Finally, Ver’On looked up at a soft knock on the door, and released the lock. “Yes,” he whispered to the young blood in the hall.

“We’ve arrived. It is nearing the darkening time here. We shouldn’t stay.”

“Understood. Thank you.” Ver’On nodded to M’Pa, and the two went to their armor to get ready. In just a few minutes the two were dressed and ready to do battle with the Grand Elder’s guards if necessary, and quietly they turned to El, gently shaking her shoulder till she woke. “We’re here,” he said. “Are you sure you want to do this?”

“I just want to say good-bye,” she sighed, as M’Pa pulled the blanket off her shoulders. For some reason she seemed to have gotten colder the last few hours.

Ver’On grew concerned, and took her hand as he knelt on the floor, M’Pa not far from him. “El, before you make any decision, please talk to us. If we have failed you in some way as your mates, then tell us, we will do better, we will correct our error. But please, please do not leave us.”

“I will kill any male that approaches who even THINKS he can best us for your heart.”

“What are you two talking about?”

“You want to say good-bye. But we don’t want you to go.”

“You think I want to leave you?” The two looked at each other and nodded. “Oh you guys,” she laughed, but stopped as a sharp pain went across her back. Seemed that anything she did made her uncomfortable. “I’m not going to leave you. Not after all of this, and everything that I know you’ve done, and feel for me. Ver’On, my darling Tusk, You’re stuck with me. M’Pa, my wonderful Kadji, if you think I’m gona let you go and flirt with some other girl, honey, you got another thing coming. You two are stuck with me till my passing to the great beyond, if there really is such a thing.”

“Then…why this trip?”

“I want to say good-by to my world, to the life I had there, to my family that will remain there. I didn’t get that chance when we left. I’d…I’d really like to do that.”

Both males gently kissed her. “Of course,” Ver’On purred. “I understand.”

“How are you feeling?”

“Sore sense the babies moved. But I’m ok.”

“You sure you feel up to this?” Ver’On asked.

“Each of you, or one of you carries me both ways, I’m fine. I’ll have the babies on the ship in a day or two, and everything will be fine.”

The two purred at her optimism, though they continually watched for any signs that she may deliver early. “Then let us go. The night cycle is coming soon here. We haven’t much time.”

“Yes, the sun set. Let’s go.” Carefully M’Pa lifted her from her bed, and followed Ver’On through the halls. Then down the embarking ramp, when the area was deemed clear, by the squad of unbloods that had gone out to scout around.

El could feel the warm wind buff her face around her mask, a smaller one than the tank she’d had before. M’Pa had developed an easy way of delivering the correct chemicals found in the Yautja atmosphere through a controlled release of a concentrated can, fixed to the small mask’s air tube. That and mixed with her own air, was perfect, and seemed to perk her up considerably.

Ver’On praised the unbloods for their assistance, and waved M’Pa down. Though the area was clear, the two scanned the bluff themselves briefly, but found nothing. Carefully M’Pa set their mate on the stone bench over looking the canyon, and signaled for the ship to descend into the canyon to avoid detection, and to not obscure El’s view even when cloaked.

“Thank you,” she giggled, as M’Pa continually rubbed her back. “I’m ok now. Please. I’m ok.”

“We’re here if you need us,” M’Pa soothed.

“That’s just it. Can you and Ver’On just go for a walk, not too far away. I just want to be a lone for a few minutes.”

“That’s not a good idea,” Ver’On stated.

“Stay in ear shot. I just…want some quiet time…just for me. Please?” The two looked at each other, their own concern plain, even through their masks. “We won’t have that once the babies come. Please. Just…twenty minutes. Then you can come, sweep me up, and we’re gone.”

Ver’On growled in disapproval. “You won’t move from this position?” he warned.

“Like I said, someone will have to put a gun to us, and with you two out there, and the unbloods that showered the area before hand, not bloody likely that’s gona happen.”

“Very well. We’ll be on the top of that ridge. And believe me, we’ll hear every breath you take.”

“I’ve no doubt you will. Twenty minutes, then we leave.”

M’Pa and Ver’On gently kissed her, then retreated to the bluff, shimmering from sight as they left.

He lay quietly for some time. There was no way she was going to get away. Those two old coots disappeared from their hotel, without a trace! He knew they’d come back here, and hopefully with her too. To keep from being noticed, he dug a hole in the ground at the base of the hill closest to the bench, covering it with a series of tided sticks he’d brought, and some dirt over that. it would look totally natural, they’d never know he was there.

This canyon held some special meaning to the lot of them. If he was lucky, he’d be able to do away with the two old men, and have the girl all to himself. Yes, interfering with a lawful arrest, that would do, and with the knowledge the old Chinese guy had, he’d be well in his right to use lethal force, and the big one. Well, he was on his last legs anyway. A gentle nudge, and his heart would give out.

He crouched down in the hole as he heard scuffing across the ground outside. It sounded like dogs, lot of dogs. Then he heard a voice. A woman’s voice, a voice he longed to hear screaming beneath him. A few moments later, he heard more foot prints in the dirt over head, then nothing. As he lifted the edge of his cover to peek out, he couldn’t believe what he saw. His luck was with him, she was alone, and she’d be all his.

Tan’ock lay in the bed, a thin film of sweat covered his body, his arms and legs stretched out and secured to the bed points by chains, rather than ropes. He watched the tanned skinned female that lay across his chest, as her breath returned to normal. As much as he wanted to slam his body to hers, he could not. It was her idea to chain him down, and then she climbed on top of him. It wasn’t hard to figure out what she wanted, nor was it long before he was ready for her, but the process of mating her, was agonizingly slow, but oh so worth it.

He could feel the twitching of her muscles all along his shaft that still remained stuck in her body. He could also feel every heaving wave of his seed erupt into her, and the pressure was getting a bit much.

“Now, Chonie,” he said, “it must be now.”

She slowly nodded, then with one movement, thrust her body onto him, forcing his embedded member slightly deeper, causing his seed to move into her birth chamber.

“Again, Chonie, you must do it again!”

And she did, only stronger this time than the last. And this time, he felt his phallus collide with her inner cervix, the perfect impregnating position. His mandibles spread wide in delight, as he realized his young would come from her, and was surprised, when she sealed her lips around his teeth, tickling his incisors with her tongue. He purred as she kissed him, and inhaling her scent as she rested on his chest.

“Oh Chonie, my Chonie. You will be a fine mother to my new young.” She huffed happily against him. “What is it?”

“I don’t want to end up like El.”

“Not to worry. El is an extreme rarity. Most females only have one.”

“I hope so.”

“Come, release the chains. I wish to hold you.”

She rose high over him, wiggling her hips on the hard shaft still inside her body. “Nice try,” she warned, “but Ver’On didn’t let me off you till you went limp. So I’m not untying you, till you go limp again.”

“Chonie…”

“And that, my Tan’ock, could be a very long time. You’ve not completed your task to my satisfaction.” Tan raised his brow ridge in surprise. “You think, for one minute, that I’m going to let you go to waste?” Tan growled in delight as Chonie began to kiss across his collar bone, her inner muscles gently squeezing him, as thought to milk him dry. “They’ll have to carry you out of here.”

“They better not. I have to present you to my family, before we leave the docking bay. If they don’t accept you, we will have problems.”

Suddenly there was a pounding on the door as though the ship were being called to arms, a voice from the other side confirming the alarm. “Tan’ock! Something’s gone wrong with Ver’On’s excursion! All warriors are to ready for battle at once!”

“Oh shit!” Chonie cursed, and tried the squeezing trick that M’Pa had told her about.

She sat on the bench, over looking the canyon. So many times she’d come here…searching, but for what she could not say. At one time, she thought it was for a means to make sense of her family’s deaths. Another was seeking an end to her own pain. That answer came in the form of her first mate, Ver’On. Now she sat, wondering if she’d really made the right choice. She loved him, but why? Because he was able to fight her till she cried for her family? She couldn’t say.

She slid her hand over her stomach again, as another cramp passed over her body. The babies were moving, she knew that, but the pains should have lessoned by now. Instead, they were getting worse. She rubbed her skin through her dress. The pains were marginal, they’d pass, as did all the others. She just needed to relax.

She heard the click of the gun before she heard anything else.

“Turn around El,” the male voice spoke, in English.

‘Oh no!’

“I said, turn the FUCK AROUND!”

She did, slowly. It was Bastian! In his hands was a double barrel shot gun, one she often saw hanging on the wall over his desk in the sheriff’s office.

Quickly she scanned the rocks behind for any sign of Ver’On or M’Pa. if she cried out, they would hear for sure, but would they get to her before Bastian pulled the trigger. Another cramp spread across her lower belly, and all she could think of were her babies. Keeping them safe was all that was important. The ship was in the canyon, she could jump, but how far down was it? And would she be on target and be able to hold onto the invisible hull when she landed?

“I thought that if I came up here often enough I’d catch you,” the man said smugly, a smile spreading across his face. She was in trouble, and there was nothing she could do.
