Joke's on Trey
YA! Freddy and Jason are gone! (Well, for now anyways) The troubles for the teens should be over… right? Wrong. Now they face an even more daunting task…
Disclaimer: Do not own Jason, Freddy, Gibb, etc. Only premise is mine.
Chapter 11: Joke’s on Trey
It was a time to rejoice and a time to grieve. All had lost someone- Will had lost Mark, Gibb and Lori had lost Kia, and Trey had lost Blake. Dr. Gordon was unsure how to handle the situation-then again, he’d never thought he’d deal with Fred Krueger and dream warriors again either.
He tended to the survivors, taking his time with Will and Trey, since they had more injuries than the girls. But he also knew that it was their hearts that were going to take the longest to heal.
The girls openly cried for their fallen friend, Will shed some tears, only Trey kept a straight face, like stone, it never wavered. Neil had tried to counsel him while he dressed his wounds, but he had been met with stone silence. But, in his experience, he knew that this was to be expected.
Once he had finished, Trey had stood and abruptly left the house. Upon him leaving, Gibb threw herself into Lori and started to sob hysterically. She hadn’t forgotten that she was still in deep shit. Lori, oblivious to exactly what her best friend was going through, held her close. “I know. I know.”
She shook her head. “No, you don’t.” Puzzled, she’d simply held her closer and shot a look at Will. He was pale and dried tears were on his face. She knew that none of them were ever going to be the same.
---
Trey had barley made it down the driveway when he felt his legs give out. He had sensed that this was coming and now that it was here, he did nothing to stop it. With a bowed head, he sighed and quit fighting all the emotions that came rushing at him. Life had been so hard the past few years. And what if Gibb ever found out? He shuddered at the thought, the look of horror that would no doubt cross her face. No, he had to ensure that all the skeletons in his closet stayed buried.
Standing, he brushed away tears and walked back into the house. The scene hadn’t changed. Sighing, he said “I need a drink. Anyone else?” All three teens declined, though Neil said he wouldn’t mind one.
He came back into the room, sitting next to Gibb. She backed away from Lori, quickly wiping away tears and sighed deeply. He briefly let his eyes meet hers. Neither knew what came next.
He offered her a beer. “No. I can’t.” Taking a drink, he thought for several minutes about what she had said: I can’t. Not I don’t want some. I can’t.
Why?
He gently nudged her. “What’s wrong? You are acting like you’re pregnant or something.”
The muscles in her neck and back tightened. Lori had looked at Trey then, a look like she couldn’t decide whether she wanted to hit him or just kill him.
Smiling, she wearily said, “how’d you know?”
