000 Home Again 000
The entire BPRD was in an ecstatic stage of disarray and gossip, absolutely no work was being done as they all knew today to be the day.
The day Agent John T. Myers returned from Antarctica.
It had been six months to the day that the agent had been transferred to the Deep Freeze base, assisting the division stationed there with their research and hunting some pretty mean ice monsters and demons while at it. Yes, everyone had heard the news of John’s success at the Antarctic base and everyone was glad to see him return. All expect for one grumpy little half demon.
Hellboy was in a bad mood, as had been the status quo for quite some time now, and the exited talk and whispered gossip about his former liaison was not helping his mood any. Everywhere he turned he caught snippets of conversations, every single one of them revolving around the agent. He was getting a little sick of hearing even the agents who had been with the Bureau for many years talk about the kid like he’d single handedly taken on an entire army of demons with his bare hands or something equally ridiculous.
Apparently those who had had the
privilege to work with John had told the new guys who’d been recruited after the agent had left how the agent never missed a single shot in battle, how he looked death in the face and laughed at him, how he must have saved the world on a daily basis while still finding time to do his paperwork and the worst part was that the newbie agents just ate it up. They listened in awe as the story of Rasputin and the whole Russia incident was retold again and again, each version more exaggerated than the last as more people joined in with the telling.
He was about to go over to one of the groups of agents to tell them the
real story when he caught sight of Liz running up to meet him. The smile on her face was huge and he figured she was just another one of those people jumping to see their hero come back to where it had all started. Knowing he couldn’t escape without risking a fire ball to the back of his head he remained where he stood and waited for her to make his way over to him. It only took a few more seconds before Liz stood before him, her smile even larger now that he was seeing it up close and he groaned at the thought of being forced into a hero worshipping conversations about John.
“Can you believe he’s actually coming back today? I’m so exited I’m afraid I’ll spontaneously combust or something!” Liz said, voice high and happy as she didn’t even notice his obvious bad mood and unwillingness to talk about anything Boy Scout related right now.
“Yeah, just great…” He grumbled out though he doubted the fire starter noticed he’d said anything in the first place.
“I have so much to ask him, maybe we should catch up over coffee or something? I should wait until he’s unpacked though wouldn’t want to…” Liz rattled at a million miles per hour speed as he just toned her out and nodded occasionally when it seemed like the right moment. They continued on in this fashion for what seemed like hours but was probably only five minutes until Liz finally stopped talking and just looked at him impatiently.
“Well, what do you think?” She asked as she shot him a look of impatience and crossed her arms over her chest.
“Huh, What?” Hellboy said, not sure what she was talking about though the look on her face told him he probably didn’t even want to know.
“HB, you weren’t even listening to me were you?!” She yelled at him and he felt the temperature of the room go up a few degrees.
“I was but I got stuck in my thoughts for a moment, is all.” He quickly came up with, Liz sighed and rolled her eyes but didn’t really looked like she minded having to repeat her words all that much. What could he say, the girl loved to talk.
“I said, do you think he decided to come back because he misses it here, because he misses
us or is it just because he didn’t want to be stuck in an igloo anymore?” Liz asked, ending with a sigh though obviously eager to hear his input on the matter. Why? He didn’t know.
“I’m sure he just didn’t want to freeze his pasty ass off anymore and this was the only place left to go to.” The demon said with a shrug of his broad shoulders even as Liz flicked a small fire ball at him from the tip of her fingers at his remark.
“HB, don’t be so mean.” She said as he patted out the fire, glaring at her as he checked his coat for more burns. “You two used to be such good friend too…” She trailed off, giving him a look that clearly showed she wanted to know why he and John had separated on bad terms in the first place.
“Yeah, ‘used to be’.” Was all he said as the fire starter sighed in frustration at once again being denied a proper explanation. Luckily, just as Liz was to open her mouth to start talking again the alarm rang and the room was illuminated by a tell tale red glow. He would have been thankful for the interruption but as he saw every damn person in the room nearly sprint out the door he knew it wasn’t a mission the alarm was warning him about. No, it seemed everyone’s favorite agent had finally arrived on the scene.
“Quickly, we have to hurry if we don’t want to get stuck in the back!” Liz said as she grabbed his arm before he got a chance to protest, pulling him through the crowd of agents with a strength and speed he didn’t know she possessed.
They made it to the elevators in record time, pushing everyone who’d arrived before them aside until they made it to the front of the large group of people. Abe, Johann and Manning were already there, all three of them looking patient and perfectly composed as they slowly watched the elevator descent. Liz was squeezing his arm so tight it would have hurt if he wasn’t a demon and used to much worse as she looked up at the slowly descending slab of metal with a smile on her face.
The elevator moved lower and lower until finally they could see the form of the young agent smiling down at them. Liz made a sound that sounded suspiciously like a girly squeal which he chose not to comment on, instead waiting for the elevator to finally reach the floor. There was a loud thud and a whirring sound as the locks slid in to place and they were all brought face to face with the young agent once again. There was an almost awkward silence in the air, everyone waiting for something though he was sure no one knew exactly what it was they were anticipating when suddenly John blushed brightly and waved at them.
“Hey, you guys, I’m home!” The kid said as the silence was broken and everyone started talking, some even
cheering, at the same time. Liz immediately let go of him to fly forward and hug John, under any other circumstances he would have complained but now that his arm was no longer held in a bone crushing grip he saw his chance to escape this charade before someone forced him to talk to his former nanny. The only foul in his plan was the large group of people blocking the exit though, he couldn’t push them aside no matter how hard he tried as they all just ignored him in their need to get a good glimpse of the agent. He growled loudly and resigned himself to the fact that he was stuck in a large pack of groupies, hoping John wouldn’t notice him though he highly doubted it seeing his more than unusual appearance.
He turned back to face the elevator just in time to see Liz finally grant the kid some air after her smothering hug as Abe instantly stepped forward to pat the agent on the shoulder. John smiled at the gesture and said something, though with all the noise around him he couldn’t understand what, to which Abe instantly nodded in response and stepped away again. Manning simply nodded at the agent and told everyone to clear the way for their ‘star’ making John blush, Liz looped arms with the kid and led him through the open space between the awe struck agents. Hellboy almost sighed in relief at not having even been noticed by his former nanny during all the fuss, glad to have this thing all over and done with so he could return to his room for cartoons and food once again when John turned around and looked him in the eye.
Hellboy froze for a second as the kid’s chocolate brown eyes locked with his, eyes sending a clear message even as he was dragged out of the room and out of sight by the fire starter. The moment John left the room everyone cleared out again, conversations once again abuzz with talk of the young agent even as he remained frozen on the spot.
“Damn…” Hellboy said after everyone had left and he was once again alone with the silence.

Hellboy opened the doors to the roof and stepped out into the cool night air, taking in a lungful a fresh air as the light of a full moon illuminated everything in his sight. He closed the doors behind himself again and started the short walk to his,
their he corrected himself, favorite spot. He turned a corner and was immediately greeted by the sight of a lean figure leaning on the railings over looking the Bureau’s large gardens. Just that simple sight took his breath away so quickly as he only now realized how much he had truly missed it.
He quickly crossed the distance between them and enveloped the lean body fitting so perfectly against his own into his arms without a word. John chuckled as he leaned into the embrace, having to look over his shoulder to see him before greeting him.
“I missed you.” Was the simple phrase that made his heart beat almost impossibly faster, holding on to the young man he hadn’t seen in six months like he was afraid he would fade away if let go.
“I missed you too.” Hellboy said as he trailed butterfly kisses over the agent’s neck. John giggled at the fluttery feeling and turned around in his embrace, lips coming up to kiss him though a sudden painful sensation in his hand broke what should have been a picture perfect moment.
“Ow!” He yelped, in a manly way of course, at the burning feeling on his fingers. John chuckled at the sound and he glared half heartedly at the human still in his arms.
“Don’t laugh! That really hurt.” He said in a whiny voice, hoping the kid would take pity on him and kiss his ‘owies’ away.
“Stop being such a baby, you’re fire proof.” John said though his words did get the desired effect so he let the insult slide, for now. The agent brought his fingers to his lips and kissed the tips, soft lips on is skin for barely a second before he pulled away again.
“There. Better?” John said as he let the cigarette that had burned his fingers fall to the ground before stepping on it to make sure it was out. The demon frowned at the action though, John didn’t smoke so why would he be holding a cigarette, he wondered.
“A little.” He said, pouting. “Why did you even have a cigarette anyways? You don’t smoke.” The demon asked as he went back to nuzzling his human’s throat and neck. The action made John gasp as another blush painted his cheeks, they really had been apart for far too long and his body was all too eager to reacquaintance itself with that of his lover.
“It reminded me of you.” John managed to gasp out as Hellboy bit down on his skin, marking him as his again as their hips met through a series of gentle thrusts. The agent gripped his lover’s shoulder for support as he felt his legs tremble underneath him, warning him of his impending release coming sooner than expected if he didn’t do something fast.
“H-Hellboy… we have to stop…” John moaned as the demon started to unbutton his shirt and he almost gave in to the sensations of skin on skin contact, almost.
“Red, please… if we don’t stop now I’m going to ruin these clothes.” The agent said as he managed to put a few inches of space between them, now that his senses weren’t being overloaded any more he could think clearly once again.
“How about I just take ‘em off for you.” Hellboy said, instantly trying to close the distance between them again though John stopped him by placing a gentle hand on his chest.
“As tempting as that sounds you know we can’t, not here at least.” The demon whined at the words like a five year old denied sweets, the sound made John laugh despite himself.
“I know I don’t like it either but just… try not to think about it. Besides, we still haven’t talked about the plan.” John said, instantly catching the demon’s attention.
“Isn’t it obvious, it was a success. No one suspected a thing.” Hellboy shrugged his shoulders, ready to give the topic up again in favor of continuing his previous ‘activities’. Unfortunately John didn’t let him get away with it so easily.
“That might be so but we still can’t rule out the possibility of someone having figured it out, someone like Abe or Liz.” John said as he crossed his arms over his chest, brows furrowed in concentration as he processed the information he had so far in his mind. Hellboy sighed but decided to answer the unasked question so he could get back to ravishing the young agent’s body, the sooner the better.
“Abe didn’t say anything about it and you know how brutally honest he is, though at first I had my suspicions about Liz I’m sure she was just curious as to why you suddenly decided to up and leave.” There was a certain amount of hurt in those last few words that made John flinch, letting his arms drop back to his sides again as he focused on comforting his lover.
“You know it was the only way, HB, the others would have found out if we didn’t do something to get them of our track.” John said as he felt his heart clench in his chest just remembering the days they weren’t able to be together, he hadn’t wanted to go but they both knew they had no other choice at the time.
“I know that now, and it worked but I still didn’t like not having you here. I couldn’t sleep for days after you left, the bed was just so… empty.” Hellboy admitted, opening his arms to the human for a hug that was quickly accepted.
“I know what you mean Red, being away from you just hurt so badly I almost couldn’t bear it, I thought about going home to you every single day I was up in Deep Freeze, you know.” John mumbled against his chest, gripping him tighter to make sure he wouldn’t leave, to make sure this wasn’t another one of his cruel dreams that only left him feeling cold and alone when he woke up again.
“And I actually wanted to hitch hike my way to Antarctica just to see you.” Hellboy said with a weak chuckle, running his hands over the human to trace every curve and dip he had memorized in his mind every night. The stood like that for a little longer until the need for more than gentle touches became too great again, one leaning up as the other leaned down to connect their lips in a gentle kiss.
Their kiss was soft and gentle though filled with every ounce of passion they had in their bodies, sharing it with the other until they had given everything they could give, taking only what was offered as they slowly broke apart for air again.
Hellboy stared into his lover’s lust lit eyes and knew that what he was feeling right now was unlike anything he had ever felt before, he was in love. He wanted nothing more than to devote his entire being to the young man in his arms, he would do anything in his power to make sure the kid was happy and he wanted John to know that.
“John… I don’t want to hide our relationship anymore, I love you and I want the whole world to know about it.” Hellboy blurted out without a second thought, only realizing what he had said after the words had already left him. He thought for a moment that maybe he should have thought about it longer, should have made sure what John’s feelings for him were before putting his heart out like that but the thought was quickly wiped away as John kissed him again. A kiss of passion and emotion but most of all, love.
“I love you too, Red.” John said followed by a series of short kisses that eventually lingered and turned into a full make out session. This kiss was all teeth and tongue, cloaked with an almost desperate need for contact that threatened to swallow him up and never let go, not that he minded. John moaned against him as this time it was the agent that tried to take off his clothes, the very un-John-like action shaking him out of the lust filled kiss long enough to regain at least some of his senses.
“John wait…” Hellboy managed to say as their lips separated so his shirt could be pulled from him, the kid looked impatient but reluctantly paused his assault to hear what he had to say. “Are you sure this is what you want? I know that last time we both agreed to keep our relationship a secret and even staged that fight so you would have a reason to be transferred to Antarctica without people asking questions but I just don’t want you to feel pressured into doing this simply because I want it.” The demon said, unsure what kind of reaction to expect from his lover. The smile that lit up the young man’s face eased some of the doubt and worries in his heart though.
“I had a lot of time to think while I was in Deep Freeze and it made me realize that I didn’t care what anyone else thought about me, about
us anymore. All I wanted was to be with you and now that I have you I’m never letting you go again.” Were the words that wiped away any reluctance he might have had left, enveloping the human in his arms and dragging him up for a kiss that seemed to go on forever as they shared one of many wonderful nights together under the stars.
