chapter eleven
Once he reached his quarters and the door had shut behind him, he stood unmoving, letting the small human rest in his arms. From the shadows, the familiar red glow of Laserbeak's eyes flickered, and the mechanical vulture made his way towards the pair. "Can I assist?" he inquired, craning his neck to get a better look of her. Sighing, Barricade shook his head. A strange wave of tiredness washed through him, bringing with it an empty feeling of sadness. *ive snuggled close to him to fend off the cold my small form shivering slightly. looking to see lazer beak i give a small timid and weak smile but my eyes are trully happy to be back in this room feeling safe.* hello again~ *i say quietly. hearing his words and barricades sigh i look up at barricade worriedly with a small fine frown marring my features* barricade? whats wrong? *gently placing a small soft warm hand on his chest plates as i look up at him my ink black hair spilling over his arms where im held*
Unanswering, the Saleen slowly lowered himself down onto the memory-foam mattress where he lay during his recharging phases, still keeping the human close to him, relishing in her gentle, warm touch. Moving back into his nest of mattresses and scrap metal, Laserbeak stuck his head beneath one of his wings and powered down. When he was sure the vulture slept, Barricade sighed once more, looking into the human's eyes. "I will not let Megatron go through with his plans." he imparted in a hushed voice, optics alert to any movement in the room. *frowning softly i gently lay my warm cheek against his chest plates, my eyes trained on him constantly. my small soft hand making gentle circling motions. as he speaks my eyes widen my breath hitching and i wonder if my heart has actually stopped as i say quietly* y-you cant...hell kill you~......and...doesnt the decepticons need a prime in o-order to regain peace and equality? *i say my face worried and my heart clenching painfully in my distress for you* Looking down at her, Barricade gave up a mirthless and hollow laugh. "I may be a Decepticon-" he vented in a hushed voice as though unsure if overheard "-but even I realise Megatron is not fit to the task of leading our new world." *blushing as you laugh sending it straight through my small warm body. i smile sadly and nod blushing i ask timidly* t-then who? Shrugging, Barricade shook his head. "I don't know." *i mumble quietly blushing* d-do you think...maybe...you? *i look down at my hands fidling needlessly with a loose thread on my shirt embarrassed. unknowingly revealing my bandaged wrist under my long sleeves. blood soaked throgh the bandage* ((from my slip up)) Noticing her injury, the Saleen processed the information it gave away. Wrist, scars, blood and bandage. Not the dominant arm with which she did any finer tasks, such as writing, but the passive arm, the data gathered enough for him to conclude this was not something done to her by another being, but rather, caused by herself. Upon hearing her suggestion, the scout froze. Speaking such words was treason, a crime he knew was punishable with a retaliation that made those who had been submitted to it beg for termination. Yet, her words awoke a thought within his biomechanical processor, and that thought grew, until it clung to every wired synapse within his mind, not letting him go. *he*... a PRIME? *i however am oblivious to the danger of saying such a thing and looking up at you i frown worriedly feeling you stiffen* Trying to shake the thought from his mind, Barricade attempted to search his database for a suitable replacement, capable of leading the Decepticons in the coming war against the Autobots, finding no one. "Do not mention this again, of you want to live, fleshling." he warned, stroking her hair protectively with the fingers of his servo. "I will think of a way - " he added "- to solve this situation." *i blush and leaninto the touch curling closer. shakily i mumble a timid* s-sorry~ *realising i must have done something wrong. i give a small cute little yawn showing off small sharp almost fang like teeth usually hiden by my small smiles that only show some of my teeth. i lay my head on your chest listening quietly. asking timidly* is there no one? "There might be..." Barricade answered, pulling a cover over the small being in his arms, fending off the cold air from her by gently moving her closer to his chassis. "But he is in stasis." *smiling faintly but trying not to let the small signs you care give me false hope i ask timidly* w-who is it "His name is Nihilus..." Barricade answered, his optics showing dread as a small sound was heard outside his quarters. Stiffening, the Saleen fell deadly quiet, his senses on full alert, but when nothing happened, and he had made sure they could not be overheard, he relaxed, sinking back against the soft mattress. "... a great warrior..." he continued, his voice filling with hope. "... greater than Megatron has ever been, and ever will be." *i frown and ask quietly* w-where is he? "Here." *i go quiet than ask timidly* c-can you show me him? i.....i think i know what we can do~ Sitting up, Barricade stared at the human girl. The idea was insane, to say the least. Not only because he had no plans, but also because he lacked enough allies in the ranks of warriors, and the fact that the entire complex was heavily guarded, and even then... there was Soundwave. Processing every possibility, counting his allies and their abilities and degree of usefullness, Barricade reached a decision. "Tomorrow." he near ordered her. "When they shift guards." *blushing i nod timidly a small shiver racking my frame but not from cold i nod timidly and ask quietly* w-why is he in stasis lock? Lying back down, trying to calm his spark, Barricade turned to look at the human in his arms. "Megatron fears him." *i nod slowly with a mild frown and gently lay my soft cheek against your chest plates again listening to the thrumming of your spark as my hair lays splayed like ink over your chest plates. i give a small yawn again and absentmindely scratch at my bandaged wrist from nerves* Unable to take his gaze from her, Barricade relished the sensation of her softness, her female shapes and curves, the feel of her breath, rising and falling, and the spill of onyx silk across his chassis. "I..." he spoke in a hushed voice, his spark swirling faster within the hold of his chest. "...I never got to ask you... about your name..." *i blush and timidly look up at him from under my thick lashes shy. my heart picking up alittle i say smiling timidly* nero~ its nero~ Caught in her gaze, the great decepticon warrior felt his spark race within, spinning faster and faster the longer he looked at her. "Nero..." he echoed, tasting the sound and feel of her name, letting it sink into his spark. "My Nero..."
*my eyes widen slightly my heart thumping against my chest. i blush beat red at your words*m-my nero? * i blush and smile timidly hiding my face behind a curtain of black silk hair*
Caressing the side of her face with his hand, cupping her cheek in his palm, Barricade vented a sigh. "You are my human, aren't you?" *i lean into the touch softly blushing, my wide innocent eyes blinking up at you with a timid smile as i nod gently* y-yes~ i-i guess so~ *i smile and blush as your sigh ,akes my hair flutter around me as though alive* Pressing her tighter against his armoured chest, the Saleen could sense Nero's heartbeat, her fast paced pulse ticking against his sensors. *smiling as im pulled tighter i lay my head down and yawn big my eyes droopily tired. i try to fight my heavy lids wanting to make sure this isnt a dream that your really here* Shielding her with his frame, Barricade ajusted his thermal output to a level that would keep the young woman warm as she slept, and lay, unable to power down, thoughts twisting within his processor. Nihilus... It was insane, but it was the only option left if the Decepticon cause was to suceed. Megatron had become a liability. Unstable and fickle, the Decepticon commander had but one thought in mind; complete dominion over life on Earth. That desire was obstructed by the last of the Primes, Optimus, whom he hated with a passion almost bordering on obsession. A true leader was stable, reliant, patient and knew when and where to strike, and would not hesitate to issue orders to others to terminate a great foe. Megatron was not. Hating his former friend and comrade, Megatron was determined to terminate Optimus himself, and would let no one else attempt an attack, and so, precious time, warriors and plans were lost. *yawning again and smiling slightly feeling warm and safe i sleepily mumble* mm~ sleep well cade~ *not realizing my slip up with my mental nickname for the con. within seconds im fast asleep my body exhausted*
Lying awake, mental calculations churning within his processor, his chain of thoughts was broken by Nero's affectionate words. In the darkness of his subterranean quarters, the Decepticon warrior heard, for the first time, his name, albeit altered somewhat, uttered in complete trust. Thankful for the darkness that kept anyone from seeing him at that moment, Barricade smiled.
