Chapter Eleven
The next week was a blur for Liza and the boys, meeting the remaining members of Clan Chatham and her own relatives in Clan Dombrak. She had finally heard the story of her own mother’s demise from her clanmates.
After the joyous family celebration that involved both Clans, Joss and Liza had retired to their room for some quiet, alone time before they had to prepare to leave. The Dombrak and Chatham women had lavished attention on the boys, taking them to play amongst their cousins and clan mates, bringing them back late each evening, bathed, fed and asleep.
Liza picked up her brush and began to run it through her long flaxen waves. Joss lay back on the bed and watched her; stunnedin tin that he had found such happiness and love. “Tell me love what they said.” Joss whispered as he came up behind her, pressa soa soft kiss to her cheek and taking the brush from her and running it through her hair.
Liza smiled at him in the mirror and began to speak. “Xannia was exiled to Gilliana for getting pregnant without having a mate. She was a virgin yet no one believed her. Her father asked for the escort of warriors on account of what had happened to Sheelagh.” Joss vowed silently that whoever had killed his mother would pay greatly for the sorrows he had caused. Liza’s family had also suffered greatly. Liza wiped away a single tear that had tracked down her cheek and continued softly. “Xannia’s four brothers were also aboard the transport, protecting their sister. You found me just in time Joss; the bastard was on his way to take me when you arrived, scaring him off. The colony had left one person in orbit to maintain communications with Shintel and luckily he was able to record the destruction of the colony and his ship. It should give us some kind of clue to go on. Ferrety was too afraid to go back down and save me, especially once he knew that you were Jedi. Apparently the Jedi had visited Shintel several times in the past, stealing children from their families and bond mates, killing several warriors in the process. Ferrety was a new warrior and thus too afraid to take on the Jedi alone. He sent off a message to Shintel and reinforcements arrived, but not until after you and Vale had taken me to Coruscant. My grandfather had made several inquiries at the Temple after Ferrety told him whappenppened, but had been turned away countless times, the Jedi unwilling to let me go.”
Joss squeezed her shoulder as she stopped speaking and then setting down the brush, pulled her up into his arms, carrying her tenderly to the bed. Liza looked at him with love in her eyes and kissed his cheek gently. He removed her wrapper and buried his nose in her hair. “We will find the person responsibor tor this, I promise you that. I love you so much Liza, it hurts sometimes,” he whispered.
Joss laid her gently on the bed, moving down her body slowly with gentle kisses, using the Force to skim over her pleasure points, bringing her to the edge quickly. His mouth sought her nub and he suckled it gently, the waves of contentment and ecstasy rushing over her body with tender force. “Oh, oh! Ow!” she screamed suddenly as a strong contraction gripped her stomach. Joss looked up in concern at her and then smiled as he realized that she was in the beginnings of labor.
The birthing went quickly, both babies entering the world kicking and screaming, Joss standing proudly with his father as first one then two boys were laid on Liza's chest. Fergal's eyes gleamed when he saw the phoenix gracing one's back. It was small now but it would grow along with him, eventually covering his back like his father's. Liza looked up at Joss and he nodded, reaching carefully for the younger one, he raised him up to look in his face. “Connell Cameron Kadeen, welcome to the world!” Joss kissed the boy’s head and laid him back down, reaching for his twin. “Gabriel Fergal Kadeen, welcome to the world!”
He moved to lay him back down with his brother but Fergal stayed his hand, reaching eagerly for the baby and holding him aloft. “Hail Gabriel Fergal Kadeen, the future king of Shintel!” Fergal shouted and the clansmen stationed outside of the room roared back in lusty approval. Fergal kissed the boy’s head tenderly before handing him back to his father. Connell was screaming at the top of his little lungs at the loss of his twin and finally quieted as Liza put both of them to nurse.
Joss smiled down at Liza and gripped his grandfather’s hand as the babies sucked hungrily. Goran and Micail watched wide-eyed from the corner and Joss beckoned them forward to meet their brothers. Their initiation into the circle would have to wait until they could get back to Alameen. Fergal placed a hand on Goran and Micail’s back, pressing them in closer to their baby brother’s. Tears slipped unabashedly down both men’s faces as they gazed upon their future.
