Erik slowly walked down the narrow passage for a few minutes. The candle provided very few illumination and he decided to keep it far from his face… strangely he could see better in the dark.

He focused on the path and images of many tunnels crossed his mind. He could see galleries and tunnels that crossed each other, a lake, a boat…

He stumbled to the side and supported his wait on the wall as the memory of his organ and his music scores invaded his mind. He saw himself writing and playing as a young woman sung for him, even though he could not see her face.

He walked faster reaching the room and placing the candle over a small table that stood by the bed. He laid down on the bed feeling dizzy. Those memories were making him desperate.

When would he remember everything? Who was that woman and why he couldn’t see her face? It had to be Christine, the lady Melanie told him about.

He took a deep breath trying to calm down. Suddenly he felt out of breath. That small, dark place was making him feel anguished, sad. It was weird… if he lived in the underground of the Opera for so long, then how could he feel so restless in a place like this?

Of course, as far as he knew, he had been very unhappy there… maybe that’s why… but then again, he had been unhappy everywhere… He shook his head and stood up walking to the door. He forced the latch, which opened easily.

The door opened a little and then got stuck by the foliage that was covering it. Erik managed to push his arm outside and put all his strength pushing the plants to the side. Finally, the door opened enough for him to pass, so he walked out of the door and out of the room, which suffocated him.

He admired the small forest before him as he inhaled the perfume of the pines and walked between the trees. It was now the end of winter so it hadn’t snowed for days and he could see the sparse grass and the dark earth. He looked around and decided where he wanted to go.

Melanie entered the room where Erik was supposed to be and covered her mouth with her hand muffling a scream when she verified it was empty. She noticed the opened door, placed the candle she had in her hand on the table beside the other still burning one and walked to the tiny opening.

With difficulty, she managed to get herself out of the room and into the morning air. She looked around for Erik not wanting to call his name since she was afraid the police could still be around.

She ran between the trees looking around, her eyes focusing on any image that looked like him. She was beginning to think he had left when she spotted him on a small hill where the grass was already green and soft.

He was lying on his back, his arms and legs widely opened, his eyes closed as if he was sleeping. She walked slowly in his direction not wanting to startle him. However he startled her as he suddenly set up with a malicious smile on his distorted face.

“I was thinking about you…” he said looking at her, his green eyes shining in a beautiful contrast with the dark green grass that surrounded him.

“I came here to bring you back. You shouldn’t be out here Erik! What if the police decide to search for you here? You’re in danger. Come on, let’s get back inside.” Melanie said motioning her head towards the house.

“Have you not noticed yet that I hear very well? Today, when you went to my room to tell me the police was coming, I was already awake and ready to leave when you got there! I heard the horses, got out of bed and started getting dressed. Just now, I heard the creak of the door and your steps coming towards me. I didn’t go to you because I knew you would find me… your soul knows where mine is. Now, come, sit by my side… it’s been so long since we had a moment alone. I don’t understand why you are avoiding me…” he said looking in her eyes and crossing his arms over his chest, resting them on his knees.

Melanie hesitated for a moment. The temptation of sitting beside him in such a cozy place, rest her head on his shoulder and wrap her arms tightly around his large, strong chest was almost unbearable. She wouldn’t resist him… it would be better not…

“No Erik. We shouldn’t… daddy is waiting for us…” she said trying her best not to look at him.

Erik lowered his eyes to the ground and she could see in his face how much she was hurting him. He had been rejected so many times… she felt like a monster…

“Erik, please, don’t be like that. We can come back here some other time…” she said with her voice as sweet as she could make it. But she didn’t finish her sentence.

He did not move, resting his forehead on his knees. She got closer to him as she spoke… too close. In a quick move, just like a cat would do, he grabbed her waist and pulled her down on top of him.

She screamed and fell on him. Laughing, Erik twisted his body so he was lying on top of her, covering her body with his. She tried her best to get rid of him, but he kept a tight grip on her wrists and his weight crushed her to the ground, and she soon realized how her moves were exciting him.

He pushed her arms above her head, looking at her deep in the eyes and kissed her passionately, his tongue forcing it’s way inside her mouth. She felt his heart pounding against her chest and his hard member pressing against her thigh.

His hand caressed her hair, moving to her neck and resting over her right breast covered by her dress. He pulled the neckline of her dress down exposing her full and perfectly rounded breasts.

She heard him sigh in contentment at the sight before him and could not help but smile to herself… feminine pride. He bent his head down, kissing her eyes, her lips, biting her chin, leaving a trail of kisses down her neck until he reached one bare breast and softly brushed his lips on the sensitive skin right above her nipple.

It was such a slight touch, yet Melanie felt chills rush down her spine and arched herself against his hard body.

“I love you so much Melanie. You mean the world to me. My life is yours and I want yours to be mine as well.” He said in a low, raspy voice.

Then, as if all his repressed desire during the days they stood away from each other exploded, he took one soft nipple in his mouth, kissing and sucking eagerly on it, pulling it with his teeth and letting it go only to cover almost her entire breast with his mouth. He gave the same attention to her other one, making her head spin as she moaned softly.

He slid his hand between their bodies, opening her legs and lifting her skirt in a frantic search. His fingers soon found what they were desperately looking for and he caressed the sweet spot between her thighs.

Melanie was completely lost. It was too good to be stopped. She held on Erik’s shoulders, wrapping her legs around his waist, urging him to enter her and stay there forever.

They were startled by the voices of people calling them. Erik, quickly stood up, helping Melanie to do the same and holding her near since her legs were not working properly. Before she could hide her breasts with her dress, he placed his large palms over them and held them there for an instant. Then he bent his head down once more and kissed the white skin of each with tenderness.

“Erik, please. They will find us here like this and my father will kill you.” Melanie said trying to keep her voice steady, but failing miserably. Her eyes were closed and she fought to focus on something else then Erik’s hot, wet mouth upon her skin.

He helped her remove the leaves from her hair and she brushed her dress trying to make it presentable.

“Next time, no one will disturb us. I want to make sure that you are mine and mine only. No other man will ever touch you… your body and your soul are mine.” He said against her hair as he pulled her to his chest and held her there.

“My soul is already yours and my body will follow. I’m yours Erik even before I met you… Only now I realize that I loved a man I had never seen before… I loved a ghost.” She said with a smile lifting her face to him.

His green eyes sparkled and his mouth gently covered hers once more. The steps were heard closer and they decided to go to the encounter of the servants who were searching for them.
