Chapter 12
Chapter 12
The urgency drained out of her as his hands drifted across her body. She returned the soft and lingering touches as they freed themselves from clothes. Dom never moved her once they were naked; he just shifted their positions so that she was straddling his lap again. He kissed her softly and shifted her weight until she felt that he was hard and ready between her legs. She lifted off of him and when she felt him lift his hips slightly she slid down onto him.
They sat joined together for a moment, neither of them moving and a thought struck Sam deeply.
She was still in love with him. She had never stopped loving him.
She rocked against him and he pulled her closer to him, he wrapped an arm around her lower back so he could guide her, the other hand found her the middle of her shoulder blades.
Sam wrapped her own arms around him and held him as close as possible. They moved slowly together and Sam willed herself not to cry.
“I missed you.” Dom whispered in her ear and she felt her heart jump to her throat. His thrusts became more insistent and harder, she matched his moves with her own and soon she felt the orgasm rush through her and she felt him pump into her a few more times before he followed her over the edge. She lay trembling in his arms and she felt him grip her tighter. They stayed like that for a few more moments before Sam climbed of him, she quickly dressed and he did the same.
“I need to go back to the hotel; I need to make some calls.” Sam spoke in a calm voice.
“Don’t do this Sammy.” Dom stopped what he was doing and stood watching her.
“I’m not doing anything Dom, I have things that I need to do.” She tried to reason.
Dom shrugged.
“Okay, I’ll come with you.”
Sam stared at him for a beat and then shrugged, she wanted a little while to herself to digest everything that had happened but he obviously wasn’t going to give it to her. What she didn’t realise was that he was terrified she would change her mind once she had a chance to think about it.
They walked back to her room in silence and Sam picked up her back and pulled her purse out, she flipped it open and tossed it at Dom. She left him staring at the pictures of Nick in there while she busied herself with making phone calls and organizing her notes.
She sat at the desk with her laptop as she typed up some of her article.
“Did your parents go nuts when they found out?” Dom asked softly from his laid back position on the bed. Occasionally he looked back to the pictures but mostly he was happy to watch her.
“Oh yeah, they tried to make me have a termination especially once they found out that you’d gone to Lompoc.” Sam swung around in her chair to face him and caught the flinch that covered his face.
“So many mistakes.” Dom uttered slightly wistfully and Sam shook her head.
“I wouldn’t have given him up for anything. They made me look into adoption and everything but in the end they settled on me getting my degree.” Sam explained.
“Must have been tough being at school.” Dom commented and she grinned at him.
“it nearly did me in, the tutors let me do the four year course in two, I worked my butt off while I was pregnant and then some when Nicky was born.” She answered and Dom was amazed at what she had accomplished.
“What about you?” Sam walked over to the bed and sat down next to him, she picked up the phone and ordered room service for both of them.
“After I got out I went home and tried to keep things together. Social services tried to take Mia and it was really hard for a while but we got it worked out with the store and the garage.” He answered and Sam could still detect the pain in his voice.
“You got a man? I know it’s a bit late to be asking that but…” He trailed off and Sam chuckled.
“No, nothing serious since Nicky was born, it’s hard when you have a child, you have to wonder what they’ll be like around your kid.” She got up to answer the knock on the door and missed the scowl that swept across Dom’s face.
The thought of another man raising his child made him angry, granted he had only known about Nick for a few hours but he still didn’t like the thought.
Sam returned with the food and drinks and they sat on the floor at the end of the bed and ate.
“How about you. Girlfriend?” Sam asked as nonchalantly as she could.
“Me and Letty got together when I got out and we were together until pretty recently.” Dom answered around a mouthful of food.
“Letty? The little girl from across the street?” Sam choked and Dom patted her on the back.
“I know, she really grew up and was there for me while I was in Lompoc, she wrote me and it was like a life line at the time, when I got out she hit sixteen and it just seemed normal to take it from there.” Dom answered honestly.
“You were together a long time, what happened?” Sam continued and Dom sighed.
“Relationships were not high on my list when I got home.” Dom answered and Sam felt a stab of guilt.
“I didn’t treat her right and we were poison together, we had good times but at the end it seemed like all the good times had gone and all that was left was the ugly shit.” He continued and took a swig of his beer.
Sam felt a pang of guilt and jealousy all in one go and stuffed them back down. She pulled herself out of her thoughts and was startled to find Dom staring at her.
“What? Do I have something in my teeth?” she spoke quietly and Dom shook his head and pulled himself to his hands and knees and crawled the distance between them, he moved his head down to kiss her but Sam put a hand to his chest and stopped him.
“Dom, you don’t have to do this. You can see Nicky anyway. I’ll have my lawyer draft up an access agreement.” Sam hoped that her voice sounded steadier than she felt.
Dom sat back onto his heels and stared at her and she could see a touch of anger in his eyes.
“Is that what you think? That I’m fucking you so I can see my son?” he demanded.
Sam looked away and didn’t know what to say so she kept her mouth shut.
Dom let out a huge sigh and rubbed a hand over his head.
“As for the lawyer Sam, shit I don’t want to see my son for the first time in a strange office with a stranger there. Can’t I come up to you and meet him there?” Dom asked and Sam understood his point, if she went through her lawyer then he would have supervised visits to start with.
“We’ll work something out.” She agreed and heard him sigh again only this time in relief.
“Good now we can talk about us.” He sat back down again and waited for her to speak.
