Chapter Eleven
'In a thousand ways,
In a thousand hidden places.
You have touched my heart,
and now it races'
- 'Adore You' by Nikki Hassman
Once at their destination, the threesome looked upon their find.
"It looks like a shed" Elizabeth said, her voice sounding highly annoyed.
Jack rolled his eyes to the sky, his patience taking its toll with the annoyingly arrogant woman standing next to him.
"I said I helped to build it..." He told her. "That doesn't mean to say that I am a craftsman..."
The shack looked unstable.
Made of rotting wood and a rusting door, it looked like it could fall apart at any moment.
"Do you think someone could still actually live inside there?" Elizabeth asked curiously, staring at the run-down shack.
Jack did not answer.
Instead, he walked forwards and disappeared into the little shack.
"He needs manners" Elizabeth told Gibbs.
"He needs brains, more like"
Elizabeth and Gibbs both walked forwards together.
Gibbs ushered Elizabeth into the shack before him, before walking inside himself and closing the door.
Once inside, Elizabeth familiarised herself to her surroundings.
The shack was tiny, with a small table, two chairs and a bed...and that was all that occupied the small space.
"No, no, no, no and NO!" Came a voice from somewhere.
Elizabeth then realised that Jack was nowhere to be seen.
Gibbs pointed her towards the bed...where she found another door situated.
"How can someone live in this dingy little house?" She asked Jack's second mate.
When Gibbs did not answer, Elizabeth pulled the handle on the door beside the small bed.
A warm glowing light lit up the dark Shack, making it feel warmer.
"Step through" Gibbs told her.
She did.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
"What is this?!" She asked him, in awe of the whole situation.
"This is the Shack" Gibbs told her, a smile playing on his lips.
It was grand.
It was magical.
It was absolutely bloody humungous!
It seemed as if the shack she had just been standing in was just a decoy for the real thing.
THIS was something to behold...this 'tent-like' house had drapes hanging from the ceiling, and a luscious smell of insence and spices filled the air.
"Is this real?" Elizabeth asked Gibbs.
Gibbs just nodded and walked past her, towards the sound of voices.
"I don't know how you found me, Jack" Said a voice. "But I have told you once, and I will tell you again that I want nothing more to do with this...You have been searching for this bloody treasure for years, Jack...nothing good will come of it"
Elizabeth slowly followed Gibbs towards the sound of voices.
She was still in complete and utter shock over her surroundings....
Obviously Jack had never built this part of the house.
"You know something" She heard Jack's voice.
There was a silence.
Elizabeth entered a deep blue room. Candles were lit, and a soft glow cascaded down upon the people whom occupied the room.
There was a balding black man with a scar running directly down his left cheek.
He looked over at Elizabeth.
His eyes widened in shock.
"Elizabeth" Jack said with a smile. "This is Jarafed"
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
"I will not do this"
"I haven't come to ask you to do anything...I just need to know a few things, thats all" Jack told the man infront of him.
Jarafed looked determined. "No. You are looking for something that is too dangerous to even want to go near"
Elizabeth saw the man's point.
"I can handle myself..." Jack told the man, looking around at his surroundings. "I like what you've done with the place, mate...doesnt look like the shambles it used to"
Jarafed smirked. "It has been twelve years, Jack...you should know by now that since my death I have accumulated some taste..."
Elizabeth's eyes widened. "You are dead?"
Jarafed looked over at her, his facial expression turning into one of stone.
Elizabeth felt small beneath his gaze.
"I am...who are you?"
Jack stood in here. "This is my old dolly-bell"
Elizabeth glared at him.
Suddenly Jarafed's mood began to change.
Jack noticed this immediately.
Jarafed did not take his eyes off Elizabeth.
"If she goes, I will tell you what you need to know"
Jack looked around at Elizabeth for a moment...why would she need to be out of the room to hear what his old friend had to say?
Jack nodded at her.
Elizabeth shot him a venemous look.
"I need this information, Lizzie" He told her casually. "I am sure you can amuse yourself elsewhere"
Elizabeth's face went crimson with anger.
"No, I'm not leaving here"
Jack smirked at her.
"Gibbs?" was all he said.
Suddenly, Gibbs had Elizabeth over his left shoulder, and was carrying her (kicking and screaming, mind you) all the way out of the beautiful tent, and back through the door and into the grotty Shack.
Gibbs put her down onto the bed and then made a dash for the door.
"YOU CAN'T DO THIS!" She shouted angrily, getting up as fast as she could and tried to follow Gibbs.
Clink
The door was locked.
"HEITHANS!!!!!"
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
"Go on..."
"Are you sure your lady friend is not listening?"
Gibbs looked over at Jack and smiled.
Jack looked back at Jarafed and did exactly the same thing.
Jarafed nodded. "Very well..." He bagan. "You are not safe here" The man told Jack, his lanky and overly-skinny body making his clothes hang off him.
Jack could guess that.
"There is a price upon your head" Jarafed stated.
Jack could have guessed that, too.
"You do not look surprised"
"Maybe thats because I'm not" Jack stated, sitting down onto one of the plush crimson coloured chairs and lounging there, looking relaxed.
Jarafed sneered. "No wonder I planned my own death...In order to get away from you and your troublesome ways, I think I would have done just about anything..."
Jack laughed. "Didn't do you any good though, did it? You've still ended up meeting me again"
Jarafed smirked slightly.
"So I take it that Arafat isn't best pleased with me?" Jack asked him casually, glancing around him at the fancy furniture.
Jarafed shook his head.
"He has sent a search out for his Hynaptura..."
"I thought as much"
Jack knew it would happen, it was only a matter of time before Arafed would assemble his bloody guards and be on the hunt.
"I would be on my guard, if I were you" Jarafed told him seriously.
"But this is off the subject, Jarafed..." Jack told him, his voice sounding impatient.
"So it is" The bald man agreed.
"You know what I'm looking for, mate...and I think you know where I'm supposed to find it"
Jarafed looked over his old friend curiously.
Nothing had changed.
He was still the same old Jack Sparrow he had always known...
...although now he was a 'Captain'...apparently.
Jarafed and Jack had met through their fathers.
Having spent many years at sea with eachother, they became close friends.
But Jarafed slowy became untwined from their relationship on the night that Jack had sold him out.
You see; Jarafed was part Warlock...hidden powers within himself that could only be brought out with training....
Around the time that this had been brought to his attention, the 'witch hunt' had already began...
And so Jack; fearing for his life at the thought of being killed for witholding information...had sold his dear friend down the river.
Hence, why Jarafed ended up killing himself....
Although apparently killing yourself just earned you another life when you were a Warlock.
But both men were young then.
This was now.
"Do you know exactly what the 'T'hak Mahara' is, Jack?" Jarafed asked him curiously.
"Its a way to seek immortality" Jack aswered indignantly.
Jarafed nodded his head.
What a fool.
"The T'hak Mahara was created to begin the war of all wars" Jarafed began, sitting down opposite Jack and staring at him intently. "The T'hak Mahara is the source of power that can create immortality for the one that it has been created for. When this source of power is given to its chosen one, he alone has the power of immortality to create the most anticipated battle on Earth..."
Jack frowned.
This was NOT how it was explained to him.
"Or..." Jarafed began again. "...He can fight against it, and win."
"So what your saying is that the T'hak Mahara can either create war...or end it?" Jack asked, leaning closer to his old friend, captivated by the turn of events.
"Exactly" Jarafed told him with a smile.
Jack frowned suddenly. "So...if the T'hak Mahara has been created for this chap that you call 'The One' ...then how the bloody hell am I supposed to find it and take it for myself?"
Jarafed looked at his friend, his facial expression turning to stone, just as it did when he first put his eyes upon Elizabeth.
"Listen to me, Jack" He said suddenly, sounding very serious. "The T'hak Mahara is a very dangerous Treasure...the stories I have heard whilst in India have been nothing short of gruesome." He looked deep into Jack's eyes. "No one knows to this day exactly what the T'hak Mahara has been forged into..."
"But I take it you do?" Jack asked him, almost knowing the answer.
Jarafed nodded his head.
Jack looked deep in thought. "So it is hidden?"
Jarafed shook his head. "No. It was put upon this Earth as a mirage" Jarafed's voice seemed to quieten, almost as if he thought someone may be listening. "Everything about the T'hak Mahara is a lie...it could be a rock, a stone...even a great Ship...no one knows, which is why no one has bothered to look for it"
Jack got the gist.
"So it could be any object?"
Jarafed nodded, but his eyes suddenly went to the floor and he was not able to look Jack in the eyes...
He knew something more....
"It is an object, isnt it?"
Jarafed kept looking at the floor.
Jack was growing tired of this. "Obviously your not going to tell me exactly what it looks like, because you are bound to be in more trouble than me if you told me..." He began. "But the least you could do is tell me where to find it"
Jarafed looked up suddenly, his eyes boring into the Pirates.
"You already have"
