Chapter 12:

A/N: Okay Will returns because he has gotten word of Jack and Elizabeth’s wedding and he wants to see for himself if that is what Elizabeth truly wants. Please read and review and let me know what you think!

Elizabeth blinked as she stood there looking at the Flying Dutchman, the water trickling off it in rivers pouring back into the ocean. She could feel her bottom lip as it began to tremble. Tearing her tea colored eyes away from the Dutchman and back to her fiancee she looked at him a million unspoken questions dancing in her eyes.

“Jack?”

He shook his head and turned to look back at the ghostly ship of death. Will and other members of his undead crew seemed to materialize out of nowhere. Grabbing a rope that hung from the main mast of the Dutchman Will swung over to the deck of the Pearl. He landed at the foot of the stairs to the wheel deck and started to ascend them. Jack felt Elizabeth squeeze his hand nervously as her onetime fiancee approached them. Finally coming to stand in front of them Will offered a sad looking smile.

“Hello Jack.”

“William….so nice of ye t’……drop in.”

Smiling again he turned to look at Elizabeth his mouth dropping open slightly at the sight of her in her wedding dress.

“Elizabeth….you look beautiful.”

“Will…..what…..”

“What am I doing here?”

She nodded and stole a quick glance at Jack who looked just as perplexed as she did about Will’s sudden reappearance into their lives.

“I had to see you Elizabeth…I’d gotten word of your wedding to Jack and I just had to see for myself if it was true.”

“It is.”

Stepping forward Jack stood in between Will and his bride to be.

“So ye came all the way back from the land of the dead jus’ t’ see if our wedding was really happening?”

“Yes.”

“I don’t buy it….jus’ why are ye really here William?”

Sighing heavily Will cast a longing look over Jack’s shoulder at Elizabeth. He noticed immediately that she shied away from his stare. His dark eyes dropped to Jack’s hand to see it was still tightly holding Elizabeth’s. She grasped onto his hand tighter but peeked around his shoulder to look at Will.

“I came to see Elizabeth.”

“So ye’ve seen her…now ye can go back t’ whatever ye were doing before ye interrupted our wedding.”

“Can’t do that Jack…not yet.”

“An’ why not?”

“I need to speak to Elizabeth.”

Jack turned a bit so that he could look down at his fiancee. She nodded her agreement and he let go of her hand. Sighing he watched her as she stepped out from behind him.

“Ye have ten minutes…make it quick.”

“Thank you Jack.”

“M’ not doing it for ye…m’ doing it for me…..almost wife.”

Will followed Elizabeth into the cabin that she shared with Jack and shut the door behind him. Turning around to face him she set her bridal bouquet down on the table.

“Why have you come Will?”

“I’ve missed you Elizabeth.”

She sighed heavily and looked down at the floor of the cabin not wanting to look into his eyes.

“You can’t…..I’m not yours to miss anymore Will.”

“I know…..I just wanted to see if you’re happy.”

“I am….happy I mean. Jack makes me happy Will.”

He frowned as he looked down at his boots trying to hide his disappointment in what she had said. Looking back up his dark and now lifeless eyes raked over her petite figure. She was so radiant…almost glowing. Her skin was smooth and perfectly alabaster with a slight rosy tint to it. But something was different about her…she wasn’t the girl that he had fallen in love with all those years ago. No….she was no longer a girl at all……she was a woman now. His face fell as he realized that she and Jack had been intimate for quite some time now.

“Elizabeth…..is this truly what you want? If we could be together again….would you forget about Jack?”

He could see the unshed tears glistening in her eyes and her bottom lip start to tremble once again. And for a moment he almost thought that there was a chance that she might still love him.

“No.”

The word reverberated through the room as if she had shouted it although her voice had been barely above a whisper. She blinked and a single tear escaped to slowly roll down her cheek until it hung from her chin before falling to disappear into the fabric of her wedding dress.

“No?”

“No….I could never forget about Jack…..not ever.”

“I see. So then that’s it?”

“It is….William….I love Jack.”

“Do you truly love him Elizabeth?”

“I do….I can’t bear to think of what life would be like without him. We make each other whole Will…don’t you see? Jack was the piece of my soul that has been missing my whole life until I found him.”

“So then there’s nothing left for us?”

“No…..I’m afraid there’s no room for you in my heart. Will….I’m so sorry. I never meant to hurt you.”

“Don’t be Elizabeth…you’re just being honest. I can’t fault you for that. Then I suppose this is goodbye?’

“It is….goodbye Will Turner.”

“Goodbye Elizabeth Swann.”

He took a few steps forward until the space between them had closed and then he leaned forward placing a gentle kiss upon her lips. His lips felt cold against hers as he slanted his mouth over hers to deepen the kiss before stepping back. Her hand came up to touch her lips and she could still feel the cold that had seeped into them from Will’s kiss. Grabbing her bridal bouquet she followed Will out of the cabin and headed back up to the wheel deck to join Jack. Jack’s coffee colored eyes searched her face to see what had transpired between the two former lovers while they had been in the cabin. But he found nothing but her love for him shining in the depths of her tea colored eyes. Smiling briefly he turned to see Will grabbing onto the rope that was tied to the mast to swing back over to his ship.

“So that’s it then? Yer jus’ leaving now?”

“I have no place here Jack.”

“Alright then…so goodbye I guess?”

“Yes….goodbye Jack…and take care of her.”

“I will.”

Jack and Elizabeth watched as Will swung back over and landed on the deck of the Flying Dutchman. Just as quickly as the ship had broken the surface of the ocean it began to disappear below the dark sapphire waves once more. Soon the very tip of the mast was sinking below the sea and then the ship was gone as if it had never been there at all. Jack and Elizabeth turned back around to face Roux. Fearing another interruption he opened the bible and began the ceremony. Finally the part came where he would ask Elizabeth if she accepted Jack as her husband.

“Elizabeth Jane Swann….”

Jack interrupted. “Jane? Yer middle name is Jane?”

She frowned at him before replying. “It is. Is there something the matter with Jane?”

“No no…nothing at all….please Roux, carry on.”

Frowning at Jack Roux cleared his throat before continuing. “Elizabeth Jane Swann, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband? To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer? Will you love honor and cherish him forsaking all others until death do you part?”

“I do.”

“Now Jackson Teague Sparrow…”

Elizabeth had to quickly stifle a giggle that made Jack cast a sharp glance at her.

“Jackson Teague Sparrow, do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer? Will you love honor and cherish her forsaking all others until death do you part?”

“I do.”

“Now you ma y exchange the rings.”

Elizabeth watched as Jack dug into his coat pocket and pulled out two identical silver bands that were woven like ropes. He slid the smaller of the two onto Elizabeth’s finger first and then handed the other to her. She slipped the ring on his finger and then they turned to face Roux once more. Smiling he closed the bible and continued.

“Now by the power invested in me by God and the Holy Church of England, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride Jack.”

With that Jack pulled Elizabeth into his arms and pressed his mouth to hers in a scorching kiss. They were finally married! A roar of cheers erupted through the crew as Jack and Elizabeth continued to kiss. When they finally broke the kiss Elizabeth had to draw in a desperate breath. The crew began playing a raucous tune on their ragtag instruments and the bottles of rum were quickly uncorked to celebrate Jack and Elizabeth’s marriage. After hearing a few toasts from the crew Jack pulled Elizabeth to the center of the deck tossing her bouquet to the ground carelessly. He pulled her into his arms and began twirling her around the deck to the rhythm of the music. She looked up into the dark eyes of her husband and laughed as he picked her up and spun her around a few times before setting her back on her feet. Jack Sparrow was her husband…..now that would take some getting used to. Oh if the girls of her station back in Port Royal could only see her now! They would all faint from shock. Why she would absolutely be the gossip of the entire town! Smiling she leaned up to place a kiss on her husband’s weathered lips as they continued to dance.

It was late into the night when Jack finally decided he had had quite enough of celebrating with the crew. This being their wedding night they had a much more exciting party to get to inside their cabin. Jack stood up from the wooden crate he had been sitting on and swaggered over to where Elizabeth was dancing with Ragetti. Tearing her out of Ragetti’s arms he picked her up and carried her over towards their cabin.

“As ye were gents….the missus an’ I have quite a bit of celebrating t’ do in our cabin!”

A slew of whistles and cat calls broke out making Elizabeth blush something awful as Jack opened the door to their cabin. He shut it behind him with his foot as he strode over to their bed. Gently placing her on the mattress he looked down at her his dark eyes glittering with lust.

“Now then…alone at last….Mrs. Sparrow.”

She smiled widely at him. “At last….Mr. Sparrow.”

Yes tonight had proven to be the most wonderful night of his entire life. Elizabeth was his wife and he would spend his life doing whatever he could to make her happy. Their eyes met again and he could see the unbridled passion that smoldered for him in her tea colored depths. God he had waited an eternity to see her look at him like that! Bending down he captured her lips in a sweet and loving kiss. Tonight he would show her just how much he truly loved her.
