Chapter 12
CHAPTER 12/32
THE NEW ARRIVALS
Along with being a great carpenter, David was also a great pilot. It took him 2hrs and 30 minutes to surface Earth. He’d been piloting for 15 years now. He tried to teach Imam but he had another path to follow. He hovered over a particular spot so he could enter Earth’s zone easily. It was all about picking the right spot and time to jump in the ropes like playing that ancient game "Double Dutch." It was all about timing. The atmosphere was surprisingly very friendly to the newly built ship. It took him only 30 minutes to land at the shiport. He landed the ship very smoothly….just like a pro.
He was second in line to pull into the warehouse. Once cleared, he then pulled the big ship into the huge structure. David shut down the system while waiting for the green light to display. Once it did, he and Imam unbuckled themselves from their restraints. They gathered their belongings and exited the ship. Stepping out of their cocoon, the men had to adjust their eyes for the welcoming California sunlight.
"So, this is the infamous L.A," Imam said wide-eyed.
David looked at him and nodded his head.
"Good afternoon gentlemen," a young woman said.
She gave them a ticket and told them to give it to the Check Out Rep in the main entrance. The men thanked her and went on their way.
This was only David’s second time visiting L.A. The first time was when he helped his brother, Keith move out here. Therefore, he was somewhat familiar with his surroundings. As they strolled into the main entrance, they headed straight toward the "Check Out" booth.
When they reached the booth, David realized that he knew the rep. They had met the last time he was here visiting. He greeted the young man and introduced him to Imam. The two men conversed shortly as Imam took in the "Ways of L.A.”
This place is very different than New Mecca, he thought. Just as he was taking in the sights, David came and interrupted his tour.
"Now, where do we find Keith?" Imam asked.
"Well, I told him to meet us at Gate 37 for "Arrivals."
The two friends walked down the halls searching for a familiar face. A few seconds later, someone yelled, "David…Imam!” The voice was so deep and gravely that it felt like a sonic boom had hit. Both men almost took cover then they saw that familiar face. All three men had smiles of joy on their faces as they greeted each other. Keith was a very handsome man. He was very tall and very buff. He also took pride in being the youngest of the three.
"It’s wonderful to see you again brother," Keith said.
"So how are Darla and the kids?" David asked anxiously.
Keith told him that they were all fine with the same enthusiasm.
He and Imam weren’t always the best of friends, but they reconciled their differences when Imam helped him years ago. Keith was consumed with darkness once upon a time. He caused most of the trouble he found himself in. Just when he hit rock bottom, Darla came shinning her bright light his way. He didn't believe he deserved her love so he tried everything to push her away. A concerned Imam then stepped in to try and save the young man with words of wisdom. Those words helped free Keith from his internal hell and he finally allowed himself to be loved.
Keith reminded Imam of Riddick somewhat. Both men were similar in stature, voice, and their inner struggles with piece within. Today, you couldn’t tell that they once were at odds.
As Keith helped out with their belongings, he raised his hands and said,
"Welcome To L.A. my brothers." With that said, they continued on with their "Riddick/Jack Quest".
MR. SHINE AFTER HE DINED
Mr. Shine sat in his favorite silver king-sized throne. His servant, Lucrecia, was seated across from him in her old rickety metal chair. She had a pen and pieces of paper in her hand…ready for dictation. This was an everyday ritual for her.
"Alright Lucrecia, let’s get started shall we. I want you to teach Jack the
"Ways of the shine!!” She is to know all the rules, proper procedures, the do’s and mos def the don’ts. Her first lesson will begin first thing in the morning. Then she will be allowed to eat breakfast. If she fails to satisfy me in any area…you will pay dearly…Understand?” He asked.
Lucrecia looked down at her shaking hand. She didn’t dare look at him.
“Lucrecia…do you understand?” he roared out.
He commanded her to look him straight in the eyes and say, "Yes, Master Shine, I understand." She struggled a bit but she managed to force her orbs to look into his.
"Yes, Master Shine, I understand,” Lucrecia nervously said. It was barely audible.
"Good girl. Alright, go away for the mere sight of your face bores me…Shoo…shoo," he said as he gestured his disgust.
Lucrecia quickly jumped out of her seat and rushed out of the door. Once she shut the door, she mumbled, "Soon …very soon that sick, sadistic, silver, psycho freak will get his!!” She then walked away to her room.
Damn, just can’t seem to find good help these days, he thought as he laughed.
“Well, well, well, my plan is working out even better than I thought. I finally got that stupid twit Jack right where I want her. She has no powers as of yet. She didn’t reflect any kind of energy to prove otherwise,” he said.
"She’s the "Chosen One" yeah freaking right. Not if I have anything to say about that....it aint happening "My Sweet," he said.
"Soon…very soon she will turn 22 years. That’s when she’ll possess all of her powers. The clock has to strike fifteen after 4pm of her birth 22 lives ago. At that pivotal moment I will decapitate our "Chosen One" and I will possess all of her intended powers," he so proudly proclaimed.
With that said, he turned around in his beloved throne and howled out the most horrendous fit of laughter any human has ever heard.
