Chapter 13
Chapter 13
Josh could hear the serum induced army coming at them. Marla had struck him first and the effects were wearing off. He could not move but he could speak.
“Alec.” His raspy voice spoke into the tiny microphone in his shirt collar. The armored vehicle’s computer came to life.
“Target”
The army heard the sound of hydraulics working and saw the gun on top of the truck aiming at them.
“Destroy”
It sounded like hundreds of bugs whipping by them but there were only ten armor-piercing bullets used. The army of ten looked down to see their blood oozing from their bodies and dropped to the ground.
Josh crawled over to Lance. Marla had shocked him three times even though he went down on the first.
“Lance.”
The corporal groaned in pain. “Kill that bitch.”
Josh went to check the others. Shadow sat up looked for Alia.
“Jack has her.” Cal said using a tree to get to his feet.
Shadow headed in the direction he could still smell Alia’s scent.
“Wait.” Josh yelled at him. “You can’t go alone. I don’t care how much strength you have he has an army. You can’t smell through rock, you’ll never find her.”
Shadow stopped and faced Josh. He approached Shadow. “Look we can get her back. We put a tracer on her when we were examining her at False’s territory. It’s in her hair they’ll never look there. We can track her, we can rescue her, but we need you and the others to help us.”
Shadow looked at the rest of the Oomans.
Cal came towards them. “We don’t want to war with you we want to help.”
Shadow walked towards Josh and nodded. Josh nodded back.
“Lance you and Brain go find our missing seat when we get down.” Josh yelled at them sliding past them on the slope down to the armored vehicle. They were either running or sliding down the slope to the forest below and Alec.
Cal pulled all their weapons from the vehicle and checked their readiness. He suddenly doubled over in pain. Kayco and Eli were watching him. Cal looked over at them. “Don’t let me hurt anyone.”
Cal took three deep breaths and continued to load the weapons.
Sal’van watched the two Oomans struggling to carry the seat back. Shadow meet them, took the heavy metal, and carried it the rest of the way.
Josh was waiting there with a torch when Shadow placed the metal in it’s place. Josh was about to turn it on. When False took Shadow’s place and held the metal. Kayco hissed and Josh moved back. Kayco spat acid on the seam and sealed the metal to the rest of the vehicle.
Josh put the torch back. Cal approached him.
“Josh.”
“Yes sir.” He said checking the systems as the others got on board and geared up.
Shadow had his spear. Rito and Myx placed on their helmets. Sal’van sharpened his blade looking at Lance. Brian sat beside Lance and cocked his gun so Sal’van looked at him. Brain smiled at him.
Cal sat in the copilot seat. The door closed on its own when they were inside.
Cal frowned. “I thought the computer didn’t work.”
“It doesn’t but for some strange reason it only responds to Josh.” Brian said.
Josh floor the petal and they began to reverse with rapid speed. Cal hung on. Josh was looking at the computer read out and not his driving. The vehicle suddenly swung around and roared over the forest floor back towards the abandoned village.
“You were saying sir.”
Cal smiled. “Let’s go get our girl back”
Alia woke in a medical room. She tried to move but was bound to the table by some leather straps. She looked towards the door and saw two guards there. Alia easily snapped the leather straps. She might look human but she had the strength of a Yautja. Lee had always taught her to conceal that fact.
Alia untied her feet while watching the guards. She cautiously stepped down from the table and grabbed a chest saw and a large scalpel. She was planning to leave a trail of bodies if she had to. She looked around the room silently and found some long pins. She smiled and grabbed a handful and stuffed her pant pockets.
The two guards were busy watching the activities below and made it easy for her to sneak up on them. The scalpel slide across the neck of one guard and he fell to the floor. She pulled the other into the room and snapped his neck. She grabbed the first guard by his hands into the room and went to the door to see that everyone was below receiving more of the serum and Jack was now almost seven feet tall. Holly stood beside Jack as he laughed with the General.
“When are you planning on taking the ambassador?’
“When she wakes of course, I want her to enjoy it.”
Holly gave them a fake smile. She had given Alia less then the required dose to make her sleep for the hour Jack needed to complete his transformation. She hoped Alia escaped before anyone noticed.
Alia ran across the balcony watching them. Marla just happened to look up and see her. “She’s escaping.”
Jack looked up and roared with anger. He leaped up to the balcony before her.
“Going somewhere Alia and we have not even had sex yet?”
Alia backed ready to fight. The General readied the dart in the gun and aimed at Alia.
Jack smiled at her. “Once I kill the child in your womb I will replace it with my own.”
Alia continued to back and felt something prick her neck. She saw blackness and fell forward into Jack’s arms.
He smiled. “I can not wait to have you my Alia.” He lifted her and carried her back into the room.
The General looked at Holly. “Did you have a miscalculation on the dosage doctor?”
Holly smiled. “I must have luckily Marla saw her before she escaped.”
Marla looked at the General. “They will come for her General.”
The General smiled. “Good we will be waiting.”
“She’s back in the room again.” Cal said to the others in the vehicle flying across the forest floor.
Brian looked at the scenery going by. “The village is the other way Josh.”
Josh smiled. “I can’t get Alec inside that way.” Cal looked at him.
“What are you going to do?” Lance asked smiling.
“I’m going to make my own door.”
“What”
“Alec has calculated that on this side of the mountain we can get inside undetected with him.”
Shadow clicked his mandibles and Lance chuckled.
“What did he say Lance?”
“He said if we die he’s going to kill you”
Josh smiled. “Hey if we all get back here unharmed you have to name the child after me.”
Shadow chuckled and nodded.
Alec’s male voice filled the cabin. “We will have impact in ten seconds.”
“Josh have I ever told you I hate you” Brian said.
“Eight”
“Yeah”
“Six”
Myx clicked something that had the others of his kind chuckling even Sal’van.
Lance frowned. “Hey that’s not funny”
“Four”
Cal saw the side of the mountain getting closer he closed his eyes.
“Two... One Shield activated.”
The vehicle blasted through the mountain of rock intact and came to a stop deep inside the storage room for the serum.
Josh looked back at his teammates recovering from the impact with the wall of rock.
“Couldn’t have picked a better place Huh?”
Holly smoothed Alia’s hair from her face as Jack paced the floor waiting for her to wake.
“She’ll sleep for a while she’s had two doses Jack.”
Jack growled at her. “I can’t wait for much longer.”
His teeth now hung outside his mouth. His skin was paler and his bones were protruding from it in some places.
“You need to rest Jack before the transformation anyway or you’ll be too weak to do anything.”
Jack glared at Holly for while as she smiled at him. “I’ll keep a watch on her.”
Jack growled at her but walked from the room. Alia opened her eyes.
“Please don’t try to escape right now. There are five armed men waiting to stop you.”
Alia nodded.
“I hope your friends come here soon.” She looked into the room next to theirs seeing Jack growing claws and saliva dripping down his chin. He body began to form muscles and he ripped off his clothing and fell to the bed as the huge speared tail tore out of his body. Jack let out a howl of pain.
Holly gripped Alia’s hand. “I fear for us all if they do not reach us soon.”
