Memories are forever (12)
Author's note:
Note in advance: Sorry folks, this chapter is quite long. I hope you like it, it took alot of thought and I wasn't too sure if I was going in the right direction so let me know :] Your reviews make my day!
They arrived in Singapore early morning, with the baking exotic sun hitting their backs as they prepared to leave the ship. They were going to stay in Singapore a week or two, giving the crew some freedom before their long journey back to the Caribbean. Jack inhaled deeply and smiled; something about the Singapore air made him feel light and happy. Jack felt a tug on his arm and turned his gaze to see Lizzie putting his arm round her shoulders. She smiled up at him. Things had been a lot better since their discussion
“How’s Jack?” She said, giggling slightly. It seemed she was in a good mood too. A good omen. He smiled widely back at her, clutching at her shoulder more protectively.
“I’m fine darlin’ and how are you?”
“I’m well thanks Jack. Are you coming into Tortu-’ She was quickly stopped when Jack placed his lips on her and kissed her. The kiss was everything Lizzie wanted; soft, caring and light but passionate and loving at the same time. When they broke apart Lizzie was slightly flushed and Jack smiled mischeviously.
“What was it you wanted luv?” Lizzie looked blankly at him.
“I forgot” she mumbled, going (if possible) even redder. Jack laughed lightly at her and hugged her close.
“Ready to go into Singapore darlin?” Lizzie nodded at Jack, and he led the way with his arm round her waist.
Over the next few days Jack and Lizzie spent much time together, and it was great. They walked round town, not particularly doing anything except talk. Sometimes they went out drinking, others they played cards. They enjoyed each others company and became closer than ever. That afternoon Lizzie sat on the wall in the center of Singapore looking disgruntled. Jack had told her to wait there for him in an hour as he had something to do. That was nearly 1 hour and 30 minutes ago and she was getting impatient. Why tell me to be here if he wasn’t going to turn up? Oh yes, he’s a pirate. He can do anything he wants. She rolled her eyes at the thought and got up, deciding to go get something to eat. Just as she stood up she heard someone shout her name and she turned round to see Jack walking towards her. She immediately smiled, forgetting all thoughts of being annoyed at him for his lateness.
“Got ye a present Lizzie” He smiled lightly at her and reached into his back pocket. He pulled out a little box with a pale pink ribbon on it and handed it to her, he'd obviously paid for it. Shakily she opened the box and gasped; inside was a beautiful silver necklace with a single silver pearl on it. She reached in the box and lifted the necklace out, allowing the sunlight to hit the pearl, making it glitter multiple colors. She loved it! She looked at Jack who was looking at her nervously wondering whether or not she liked it. She smiled widely and handed the necklace to him. He looked very shocked and slightly hurt that she had rejected the present. She turned round infront of him and Jack thought she was going to run away but she didn’t. Instead she lifted her hair to the side, indicating she wanted Jack to put it on for her. He did so, and when she turned back round Jack was suddenly met with feeling to kiss her. Instead he grabbed her around the arms and hugged her. That night she and Jack took their place at the table they had sat at every night, drinking rum. They drank much rum and after about 4 bottles the two of them decided to retire to the room they had been using for the past few days. The room had two beds and on the first night the two of them had sat in their own, giggling and laughing about everything. Tonight though, as Jack made his way towards his bed Lizzie pulled at his hand.
“Don’t leave me alone Jack” She pulled him onto the bed and under the covers. She didn’t intend on sleeping with him, not yet. Not until she knew him. But she wanted company and didn’t want to sleep on her own. Instead they cuddled up together, staring into each others eyes. They were content to just stay like this until they fell asleep in their embrace.
The next morning Lizzie felt cold, she opened her eyes warily to find the room empty. No Jack. She sat up properly, rubbing her eyes. The room was lit up with the morning sun rays, it looked like a lovely day so she decided to get up and go downstairs to get a bite to eat. When she reached the downstairs tavern she retrieved a few pieces of bread and a drink and sat at her usual table thinking. Where was Jack? Had he tired of her and left her? Was she a burden on him? As she tried to gather her thoughts together she didn’t see Jack come behind her. He put a hand on her shoulder and she jumped at the touch before noticing it was Jack.
“Jack!? Where did you go? I thought you had left me!” He shook his head and smiled at her
“I wouldn’t leave you Lizzie. I was just preparing a surprise for you” he said mischeviously before sitting down and taking a bite out of the bread. Lizzie looked shocked. But happy. Another surprise? He was being such a gentleman to her, giving her presents, taking walks with her, treating her like a lady. How could any woman resist him? They spent the day walking along the beach. Looking at the odd shaped shells and laughing at the seagulls fighting over a scrap of food. Jack had said the surprise would happen at sunset and Lizzie couldn’t wait to see what it was. All day long she bugged him about it, so after they had had a scour of the shops, he said he would take her to her surprise. He began leading her way to a different part of Singapore, a part she had not visited. It took about 20 minutes to walk to their destination and by this time the amber sun had reached the horizon line. Finally Jack announced they were here. She looked around and there was nothing; they were at the base of a hill. He laughed at her blank face and pointed up to the top. It was about 50 metres high, and covered in grass. It was a hard walk and as Lizzie neared the top she felt exhausted, but that was nothing to how she felt moments later. She reached the top of the hill and gasped. The floor had levelled off and the two of them found themselves standing on top of a huge cliff. The grass beneath them was warm and the view was beautiful. The sun cast amber rays over the ocean and at the bottom of the cliff Lizzie could see children playing in the ocean and families joking together. She had the strangest feeling she had seen this before and turned to cling to Jack with tears in her eyes.
“It’s beautiful Jack. Thankyou so so much. I love it!” Jack held her lightly and together the two of them stared at the sunset, Lizzie felt at home. Jack began humming a song to himself but loud enuogh for Lizzie to hear:
“ Aloha `oe, aloha `oe” Lizzie giggled slightly; his tune was terrible and timing was out but he spoke the words so softly, so gently.
“E ke onaona noho i ka lipo” Jack loved this song, his mother had taught him it and it always made him feel at peace with everything.
“One fond embrace, a ho`i a`e au
"Until we meet again.” He finished the song and took a deep breath. He had never believed himself to have the best singing voice but he loved the sound of the song on his lips. A slight chill brought him back from his reverie. Lizzie had lessened her grip on him slightly and Jack felt cold and sad without her body heat.
“Lizzie?” He wondered what had happened to stop their embrace. No reply.
“Lizzie? Lizzie!” He said slightly more forcefully, he leaned back to look at her face but she was just staring blankly through him.

“Aloha `oe, aloha `oe
E ke onaona noho i ka lipo
One fond embrace", a ho`i a`e au
Until we meet again.” Lizzie stood still, letting her grip go on Jack. Her head was spinning and she felt slightly faint. Suddenly images began flicking through her mind like photographs:
Her and Jack stood on a hill. Tortuga by the look of it. All was pleasant and the view was beautiful. He sang a familiar tune in her ear and she hugged him.
///
Her and Will playing in the sandpit, ages 10, her with a wooden sword in here hand and Will backing away from her fearfully.
“Parley?” He said, but Lizzie took the sword and poked him in the chest.
“Oww!” She and Will started laughing together, rolling around in the sandpit tackling each other.
///
She opened her eyes and looked up into the face of a man she recognised, one she had never seen but had read much about. Jack Sparrow. She was lying on a dock, soaking, and in her thin chemise. Last she remembered Norrington had just proposed to her…
///
Undead pirates coming towards her with swords.
///
Her and Will’s first kiss, their failed wedding and arrest.
///
“One word love, curiousity. You long for freedom, you long to do what you want to do because you want it. To act on selfish impulse, you want to see what it’s like. One day, you won’t be able to resist.” Jack smiled mischeviously, loving he could rile her so.
///
Her and Jack’s first kiss. So fiery, so passionate. Everything her and Will’s wasn’t…
///
"I'm not sorry" She spoke, trying to convince herself as she shut the cold shackle around his wrist.
"Pirate..."
///
She was back on the Tortuga cliff, Jack stared at her ansd she noticed the genuine sparkle his eyes held.
"If all you want to do is cuddle, then I'm fine with that. It's your choice and I don't want to make it for you" He began singing his mothers lullaby and she remembered thinking "I'll never leave."
That was her last thought before she felt something in her mind pull her back to the Singapore cliff...
She stayed still for a second, trying to gather her thoughts.
“Lizzie?” She heard someone say her name distantly, and she looked up into the face of the man who had spoken her name. Jack. Jack Sparrow.
“Jack? Jack! I’m so sorry!” She uttered, whilst Jack looked at her questioningly What am I doing? Oh yeah...I told him I wasn't sorry!
“I’m sorry for feeding you to the Kraken! Im so so sorry!” Lizzie words took a minute to register to Jack, before his face burst into a huge grin. He grabbed her and pressed his lips against hers, and she didn’t object. When they broke apart he was still grinning like a fool, like only Jack Sparrow could.
“You remember? You remember!” He started laughing, tears of relief and happiness pouring out of his eyes but not caring enough to wipe them. She began laughing with him and they embraced tightly, never wanting to let go.
“I missed you so much Lizabeth!” He whispered, causing her to hug him more tightly. She never said anything but she’d missed him, she’d missed them!
Author's note:
Okay, what did you think? That was really hard to write. I'd had this idea since the beginning but when push came to shove it was rather hard to put into words, you know? I wanted like a montage of her memories but yeah, kinda hard to write, I seperated the memories out with: /// in a hope of not confusing you guys! I hope you understood? Jack set up the suprise just like the Tortuga meeting and humming that song made her remember? So, please review. I hope you enjoyed and I'll update soon. Cookies and milk for all those who review!
