Chapter 12: Enough is Enough
Will smiled as he stood at the starboard side of the Pearl, looking over the water. His time spend with Jack had brought back a part of himself, a part he’d lost.
He’d spend most time in the captain’s cabin, discovering things about himself he hadn’t the slightest inkling of before.
And… In all that time…he hadn’t seen…
“Ah! Decided to get out of his cabin after all Will?”
…Elizabeth.
With a sigh he turned to her, noting the look of hurt and anger in her eyes, “Elizabeth…”
She narrowed her eyes, “Do you think our dear captain cares for you Will? That he loves you? Did he tell you this, while making love?”
His eyes widened in shock, wondering how she knew, she laughed, “Everyone knows Will, the sounds you made were unmistakable.”
A blush crept unto his cheeks, but he didn’t get the time to respond, “Jack doesn’t care about anyone but himself Will, haven’t you realized yet? He’s only interested if it’s something he gains from it. Did you really expect him to care for a blacksmith wanting to turn pirate but debased to no more but an idle strumpet, a bed warmer to the captain?!”
Will shook his head, “No, that’s not so. Jack does care. He does… he does”
A near evil smile appeared on Elizabeth’s face, “Are you trying to convince me? Or yourself?”
Will shook his head, again, “Elizabeth please… We needn’t be enemies to one another. Has your love for me truly just disappeared completely?”
For a moment, the blacksmith thought he saw remorse in the eyes of the woman he’d once wanted to spend his life with, but, it disappeared like snow under a hot sun, only to replaced by bitterness and anger, “You killed that love slowly but surely, ever since Jack saved you”
Will smiled bitterly, “I’m sorry that you cannot understand why I had to do certain things, why I was a different person”
Elizabeth laughed, “We’ve all been through a lot Will, but I’m not suddenly attracted to women now am I? But, you’ll see it in the end, he doesn’t care for you Will. At this point, no one does”
It was then that an angry voice rose, “Madam, I believe you owe the captain whose been so kind to tolerate you to stay on his ship, despite it being bad luck, more respect. Has your dear father never taught you not to assume things about situations you know nothing off?”
Elizabeth bit her lip, turning to find said captain looking back at her, his eyes showing an anger that is uncommon for the pirate, “Mister Gibbs! Escort m’lady to my ca… to the brig”
Gibbs nodded, leading her down below and into a cage, “M’am, you’d do best to apologize to the cap’n, mark my words the cap’n is not nice when angry”
Back on the deck Jack looked at the blacksmith, his eyes beckoning him to follow before he turned and moved to his cabin.
Will followed, his cheerful mood gone, and looked at the pirate as they entered the cabin.
Jack turned to him, pressing the youth against the wood of the pearl, kissing him deeply, as Will moaned soft in answer, Jack seized the moment to slip his tongue into the honeysweet cavern.
After what seemed like forever, the kiss was broken and Will looked at the captain, his cheeks flushed.
He parted his lips to speak, but Jack shook his head, “Don’t listen to the strumpet mate, there’s nothing worse than a jealous woman, I’d be sad, of course, if you were to plan on getting back with her, yet, it’s not the only reason I want you to keep clear of her, don’t fall into her trap again William, it would be a waste of effort.”
Will nodded, leaning into the captain, resting in his embrace, “Do you love me Jack?”
Jack half-smiled, “Aye William, with all me little black heart. I may not be pretty as your bonnielass was, but me love is true”
Will smiled at the words, a contented sigh escaping him, “Thank you Jack”
The captain nodded, “Alright dearie, I want you to go to mister Gibbs, tell ‘im I want you to sail the Pearl, he knows the headings, I will not be long”
As Will nodded ant went off, Jack went to the brig, “Well lass, is there anything you have to say for yourself?”
