a note
just a note on what's going on, for those readers who are sticking with this story.
I just finished the rough draft of the second novel in my series, Lion of Ma'at. It was part of what I had been putting off by writing fanfiction and my editing team was a little pissy about it. lol. I have submitted a few ideas to a Women of Color romance publisher to get a start on a contract that they MIGHT be willing to offer me on at least one novel. Yes! (does crazy dance) Go, me! Female pirates of color, reversing the gender roles of a bodice-ripper! lol. Instead of a handsome rogue of a male pirate seducing the pretty countess or princess, you have Salome (whom Henriette was based upon, by the way...a character I was in the middle of creating when I started writing this fanfic). Salome, the escaped and educated slave-turned-pirate who seduces a young nobleman...quite by accident. see what I mean by bodice-ripper in reverse?
For those who asked: you can find some of my work at Amazon.com. Under George Bennett Fain. yup. Look for 'This Darkest Hour' and 'Pandora's Box' (the first in the Lion of Ma'at series). 'This Darkest Hour' is spicy and dangerously dark...and kinda goes along with 'Pandora's Box', as in AU stuff. Yeah...sometimes I write AU for my own work. Go figure. 'Pandora's Box', however, doesn't have quite the smut to it...but it has a little bit of everything, including a lot of sexy. Where else can you find an atheist androgyne assassin (try saying that three times fast!) who just happens to be the anti-hero warrior savior of the world, whose best friend (and sometime fuck-buddy) is a black femme-lesbian reincarnation of Jesus Christ? ....That never fails to disturb my office mate and my mum alike, as I'm atheist and yet I have a religious studies minor under my belt *and* I write quasi-religious historical fiction. My office mate says I might have a religion in the closet...to which I can say: That's the only thing in the closet, baby!
so...let's get down to business. as I'm currently going to be editing the second novel in the Lion of Ma'at series, I'll have a bit of free time in the next week. not much. but, let's face it...with a new semester upon my head, I was lucky to get the novel's rough draft finished in time. I'll look over the work for Betwixt. If anyone has any ideas how jack and hector can get themselves out of this mess...let me know. g.echo.fain@marshall.edu always willing to take suggestions. personally...I'm starting to think this might need some serious supernatural help, such as a trip to the farthest gates or something along those lines. but not before I've had my fun with these two cute wenches. somehow, I don't think jack's going to take it well that both men and women agree that hector makes the prettier girl....
so...give me a day or two. let me see what I can cook up for those who have stayed faithful. arr, ye know who ye be.
