Though I have borrowed the names of some of the characters, and some spells from Charmed, this is mostly my own creation, my own idea, and i make no profit from it.
Anam Cara
I lay in my big bed, shivering, trying to go to sleep, but I couldn’t. I felt more powerful than ever, a constant hum of energy flowing through me like a river. I was so tired, but I couldn’t sleep. Finally I couldn’t take it. I threw off the covers and stalked to my window, pressing my forehead to the chilly pane. I closed my now purple eyes, trying to figure everything out. I’d thought that once I Ascended, things might get easier, not harder. I already had too much power. More was definitely a bad thing.
I jumped a little when someone knocked. “Come in.” I called and all three of my guys came in. “Hey. I thought you would have gone home by now.” They shrugged and came towards me. “Are you okay?” Peyton asked, reaching for my hand. I took it and nodded. “Yeah, I feel better now that everyone knows. It was hard, not telling.” He squeezed my hand and pulled me over to the big stuffed armchair I had. It’s red. “Good. We brought your present up. We didn’t want to wait till later.”
I sat on the edge of the chair and he pulled me down into his lap. Tristan and Riley sat at our feet on the floor. Riley handed me the present. “It’s a joint gift, from all of us.”
I opened the long slender box and felt my eyes water. I was a bracelet, set with moonstones, my favorite. A note peeked out from under the silk and I would have reached for it, but Tristan stopped me. “We know you’re allergic to silver, it’s platinum.” My brows shot up, I was so stunned I could only make a small joke. “You shouldn’t have spent all your beer money on me.”
They all laughed. “Turn it over.” Riley pointed to the bracelet and I did. Carved letter by letter onto the back of each setting, spelled the words, ‘Anam Cara.’ It took me a minute to figure it out, the words were Gaelic for Soul Friends. “This way, were never far from hand.” Riley said and I nearly cried. “Thanks guys. So much.” I twined the bracelet around my wrist and let Peyton clasp it on, the stones winking in the candlelight.
