Chapter 13
Chapter 13/32
THE TRIOBS’ HEADQUATERS
Xan, Var, and Ret were chilling in the main room watching "Toy Story." All of a sudden they heard the loud thunder of the door bursting open. It was Xai, Xan’s wife. She was screaming her little lungs out with her hands waving in the air.
The trio instantly rose from their seats and ran towards her. She instinctively ran to Xan. She was utterly hysterical and he tried to calm her down. Xan ushered her to a nearby couch. Var went and fetched a cup of water while Ret grabbed some tissues for her. She wiped her face and drunk the water. Her breathing began to slow down as she started to relax a bit.
"Okay baby, tell me what’s wrong," Xan said comforting his wife.
"I was just walking down the pathway when I heard screaming coming from Master Shine’s Shrine. He was hurling out insults at Lucrecia again. I could barely hear what he was saying; I’m sure it was trifling. I heard the door slam after his cruel display of affections. As I got closer I…I heard him say that he was going to ...decapitate "The Chosen One" on her 22nd Rid-Day."
She completely bawled her eyes out then and found comfort in her husband’s arms.
The trio just looked at each other and said in unison, "Oh Noooo……… Not Decapitation!!"
FIDDLING RIDDIE
The gang waited until the guards were no longer in sight. Riddick looked at Angel and told him that he was going to scope out the place. Gunn offered to help him but Riddick told him that it would be best if only one person went. Everyone nodded in agreement and Angel told him to watch his "Tail Feathers." Riddick was totally caught off guard by the comment and just growled.
He prowled so gracefully across the way like a panther in disguise. He cautiously scanned his surroundings as he approached the huge mansion. He spotted a surveillance camera to his right and quickly dodged it before being detected. He finally reached the front entrance and was greeted with a welcoming sign. It read," Welcome to the Shine Inn" with a picture of a smirking Shine. Anger started to fill him up until he smelled a familiar fragrance.
"What’s that smell?" Riddick asked out loud as he glanced around.
He looked up and saw to his far left that there was a window open. It smells like…like Jack.
"Jack," he roared inwardly but you could swear that his roar was heard by many.
So, that’s where this Shine freak is keeping her, he thought. Before he could ponder anymore thoughts of Jack, he heard the irritating sounds of the guards chanting again. He turned his head and growled at the intrusion.
"I’ll be back for Jack and you Shine. When I do, I’m gonna ghost your well-shined a$$," he proclaimed.
He stealthily crept back across the way to his allies. He told them about the main entrance, the camera to the right, and Jack’s room. Angel could tell that Riddick was fighting the urge to release the beast inside.
"Don’t worry Cari, we will get your jack back," Angel said reassuringly with a hand on Riddick’s shoulder.
Surprisingly, he didn’t flinch at all. Hmm, maybe he was beginning to trust Angel again.
"That poor girl. I know how it is to be stuck in a strange place away from your loved ones," Fred sadly admitted.
Kelly and Cordy gave her comforting smiles while Gunn took her in his arms and kissed her.
"You made it out and so will she. Cari will see to that. Everything is going to be okay baby," Gunn said.
"Okay guys, let’s call it a night and try to find shelter around these parts," Angel suggested.
They all got into their positions and Riddick led the way…once again. Not less than ten minutes later, Angel fell ill…literally. Gunn and Riddick helped him up and led him to where he could get rest. Wes came by his side and asked him what was wrong. Unfortunately, Angel didn’t know what was wrong with him. He didn’t understand why it was a very strange yet familiar feeling.
BROTHERLY LUV
After leaving the shiport, Imam had given Keith the quick version of his past with Riddick. Keith himself found that his and Riddick’s life were similar. The trio became a little hungry and stopped by a nearby diner. They huddled in a corner discussing Riddick after giving their orders. They didn’t dare speak of his name in public.
"L.A. is such a huge city. Where do we start to look for "Him?" Imam asked, looking defeated.
Across the room sat a very mysterious man. He very discretely eavesdropped on their conversation. The trio was so distracted that they didn’t notice a fourth party had arrived. He nonchalantly delved into the discussion as if he deserved to listen to it. He picked up on several "He’s" and "Him’s" and became very intrigued by the subject at hand. This went on until the trio was served. The mystery man stood up to leave as though he had gotten what he wanted and now satisfied with it. As he walked out of the diner he said, "I Got To Tell Beth!"
