Chapter Thirteen

Two Years Later…

“Good morning, class,” Acaciah Skywalker began, sweeping along the young men and women who were considered the brightest and most Force sensitive between the Fiona. “I will be instructing you in lightsaber technique.”

“Isn’t that a Jedi thing?” inquired a young boy; Aca rec recognized him as Etos and Najara’s boy, Kavir.

“The Great Mother Fiona was a Jedi and carried a lightsaber,” Acaciah stopped in front of him, brandishing her own. “All Fiona were once Jedi, before the Holy Twelve in Coruscant became too narrow-minded. That is the reason the Force is with every child of Mother Fiona, some more than others. This weapon is your birthright, Kavir, and you should learn to use it and respect its symbolism and power.”

A row over, little Lawson stuck his tongue out at Kavir as if to say, ‘My momma told you!’ Acaciah shot him a warning look and resumed walking around the room. She handed each student a training saber. For now each had a safety clip on it so that the students couldn’t turn it on without an adult’s help. “Today we are going to learn to hold our lightsaber in a ready stance.” Four-year-old Lawson instantly melted into a perfect readanceance, making the low hum of the saber under his breath. The rest of the class looked at him, awed. Acaciah smiled a little; Lawson was copying his daddy to the tee!

“Where’d you learn that, Lawson?” Kavir asked.

“My daddy’s the best Jedi of them all, he’s the Chosen One!” Lawson said proudly. “He showed me how to; I even know how to turn it on!”

Kavir scowled; he thought Lawson was bragging. “Do you know how to throw an epalier?” he asked.

“No,” Lawson replied.

“Well, I do, my daddy taught me that!” Kavir straightened a little as he said it.

“And you both should be proud of your skills,” Acaciah smoothed as she stepped between them. “Class, show me your best ready stance,” Acaciah addressed them all.
