Chapter 14
Matt sat at the controls of the ship, his feet up on the console and his head back. He was almost asleep when communications beacon went off. He scrambled to his feet and reached over hitting the switch to open a channel.
The monitor’s picture flipped a little before focusing on a welcoming face.
“Mr. Talon,” Matt answered, “So good to see you again.”
“It is a pleasure to be speaking with you as well Mr. Lawson. I trust everything went well.”
Matt smiled and answered, “Oh, yes sir, everything went great. We are about 16 hours out.”
“Wonderful news Mr. Lawson. Is Alexis there, I would most desperately like to speak with her.”
“Oh, well, she is sleeping at the moment. She’s been spending a lot of time in bed since she left the prison. I can go wake her if you wish sir.”
“No, no. no. She needs her sleep. You will tell her I contacted you?”
After the last sentence a loud growl and giggling is heard throughout the ship and on the Comm Channel.
Matt looks at Mr. Talon as he gives a confused look into the Comm Monitor.
“Oh… I apologize Mr. Talon. I was watching a movie to pass the time. I must have forgotten to shut it off.” Matt said smiling.
“I understand,” Mr. Talon replied with a look of concern. “I will see you and Alexis in 16 hours. Have a safe journey.”
“Thank you Mr. Talon, we will.” Matt switched off the Comm and proceeded to turn and walk out of the Cockpit, a small smile appearing on his face as he headed towards the Galley to get a bite to eat.
