Warrior of Darkness

Chapter 14


Shadow and Lance were up front of the group as they carefully headed down the darkened walkway surrounded by rock. Shadow held his spear tighter sensing something watching them. Lance looked around seeing nothing. Shadow closed his eyes feeling the presence launching itself at him.


Lance saw movement and one of the black half Wolf and Lion creatures leaped down from its perch high above them. Shadow unleashed a skull crushing punch into the creatures head before it touched the ground and the creature crashed into the wall. Another came from the end of the hall running towards Shadow. The spear grew and Shadow slammed it into the chest of the beast and slammed it into the wall. He then turned just in time to grab the last creature by the neck in one hand and with a sudden jerk, it snapped.

Lance watched the creature fall to the floor. He looked back at the others. “We took care of it.”

Shadow grunted at him and they continued.


Holly walked out to see the five guards still patrolling the entrance to Alia’s room. She walked back inside to Alia.

“They are still there” She looked into the room where Jack lay unconscious. His skin was almost gone from his body and his pale skeleton was protruding from the remaining skin. Holly let out a whimper.

“We have to leave.” She said to Alia when Jack began to move.

Alia sat up and Holly went to the door to try to distract the guards. Three walked away. She hoped Alia could handle the two that were left. Alia got off the bed and Jack stood up. His pale skeleton back was all she could see. He turned to face her. His face had small spikes on the forehead and some skin was missing on his cheeks. Long pale canine hung outside his mouth. He crouched to get out of the door and into their room.


Holly and Alia backed as he came into the room and then stood his full height of seven feet tall and three feet wide. Saliva dripped down his canine as he opened his mouth to speak.

“Alia”

Lance heard a familiar voice coming from one of the rooms carved out of the rock wall.
He motioned for Josh to come forward. Josh listened and smiled.

“You go ahead with them I’ll take care of her and catch up.” Lance nodded and walked by.

Josh looked at False. “Can I borrow him?” He pointed at Eli.

Shadow led them to the end of the hallway. Brian came forward looking at the small computer on his wrist. “She’s that way.” He pointed to his left.

Cal began to whimper and double over holding his stomach. Lance and Brian went to him.

“Captain”

Cal groaned in pain when Brian kneeled beside him.

“Leave me “

Lance looked at Brian. “Josh aint gonna like that Captain.”

Cal shoved Brain away. “Go save A... Alia.” He grunted out. Brian and Lance didn’t move.

“That’s an order Corporal.” His voice was a whisper.

Lance and Brain turned and followed the group down the left hall.

Alia and Holly backed into the wall, as Jack got closer.

“Jack you don’t know what that serum is doing to you. Soon there will not be any of you left it will take over completely.”

Jack laughed. “Holly my wife I know what it will do and I will a part of it.” He looked at Alia. “And so will she.”

Alia gripped the scalpel in her hand tighter as Jack’s talon hand reached for her. Alia sliced across his hand. Jack howled. Holly sprayed some chemical in his face. Jack moved away holding his face and screeching in pain.

Alia tried to run by but Jack’s tail wrapped around her waist. Holly looked up at Jack as he recovered from the spray. He growled and backhanded her hard into the wall. He lifted Alia onto the bed with his tail.


“Our union will produce the greatest creature ever discovered.”

Alia punched him in the face. Jack turned his face and laughed. “You have strength but not enough.” He ripped her shirt open. Alia began screaming.


The group quickened their pace into a run when they heard Alia screaming.


Jack‘s serpent like tongue flicked over the nipples of her breasts and he licked down her flat stomach.

Holly looked at the door to see the one named Shadow run into the room. Jack raised his head too late and the fist of the Yautja landed in his face knocking him from Alia and into the rock wall. Alia got down from the bed. Shadow roared at Jack as he attempted to stand after the punch.

Alia went to Holly on the floor. She could not move Jack had broken her spine.

“The serum in my pocket is for the settlers; put it in their water and it will reverse the effects of the alien cells.”

Alia nodded. Holly saw Jack stand and mutate even more as another speared tail ripped out of his body. Jack growled at Shadow, whipped around, and knocked the Yautja from his feet and into the wall. The spear flew from Shadow’s hands and into the ground.

“When do you think they will come?”

The General smiled. “As I said before Marla it does not matter. We will have complete control over everything here what can they do to stop us.”

“Jack will have control not us.”

“Jack and I have an agreement Marla.”

There was a sound outside the door. The General looked at Marla and she got up and went to check it out. Josh grabbed her around the throat and backed her back into the room.

“Son you can’t defeat us we are many.”

Marla gagged as Josh applied pressure. “Yes you are but you wont live to see it.”

The General jerked forward and drool ran from his mouth followed by blood. A black spear came through his chest and he was lifted from the floor and thrown into the wall.
Marla punched Josh in the chest and got away from him drew her gun and aimed at him and pulled the trigger.

Josh smiled. “You never paid attention to anything Marla and you never did what you were told. You always left your post, sloppy fieldwork, and your dislike of Lance all made me wonder about your loyalty. However, when my buddies Eli and Kayco started to dislike you well, that did it for me. I took the bullets from your gun that night in the cave.”

Marla dropped the gun and backed away. Eli hissed at her.

Josh looked at Eli. “Hey give her a nice sloppy kiss for me.”

Eli came at her with such speed Marla didn’t have time to scream as his teeth were imbedded in her skull.

Jack hissed and advanced towards Shadow on the ground raising his speared tails and aiming for his head. Shadow moved and to his right and grabbed the tails and pulled Jack towards him and the ten-inch wrist blades he wore. Jack howled as they slammed into his stomach and Shadow stood dragging them up as he went. He picked Jack up and threw him into the shelves full of medical supplies. Alia ran to Shadow and he purred and hugged her.


Rito pulled his blade when he saw the heat signatures through the helmet. The serum-induced army was climbing up the walls towards them from the ground floor below. He and Myx took aim with the cannons and began destroying the nearest ones. Lance and Brian began firing picking them off the closer they got.

Kayco hissed and climbed along the wall spiting acid or ripping through their flesh. False roared and turned to his right to see more coming down the hall to his right. Shadow came from the room with his spear in hand. Alia was at his side. Lance turned to their left to see more of the army approaching from the hall.

“There are too many!” Brian yelled reloading.

Shadow and False went to engage the army.

Josh ran down the hallway back towards Alec. Eli climbed quickly over his head keeping pace with him. Cal was standing before the vehicle when they arrived.

“Captain you okay? What are you doing here?”

Josh’s hand was on his gun as Cal turned with saliva dripping and canine protruding from his mouth. Josh stared at him for a second and then drew his gun.

“You were the best solider I ever had Joshua. Get them all back safely that’s your job now.”

Josh nodded trying not to shake from the tightness in his chest. Cal smiled. His eyes changed to black, he leaped at Josh, and the shot pierced his skull.

Shadow threw two men into the wall with broken necks. Alia sliced two and kicked them over the balcony.

Lance reloaded and looked at Brian. “Squirt this is NOT how I want to die.”

“Sorry sir.”

“You never called that before.”

“I figured since we are going to die I’d be nice for once.”

Lance smiled. “Thanks Brian.”


They heard a rumbling noise and everything began to shake. Suddenly the far wall on the ground floor came falling down and their armored vehicle drove through. It stopped and Josh got out putting two men down with a shot to the head.

“Knock, Knock!” He yelled. He could hear Lance and Brain cheering his name.

“Alec acquire targets and destroy.”

The round cylinder on top of the vehicle began to spin, bullets rang out, and the serum-induced army began to fall from the walls and ground floor. Once the guns stopped, Shadow pulled Alia into his arms and jumped down to the ground floor.


False grabbed Brian and followed. Rito, Myx, and Sal’van jumped next. Kayco climbed down carrying Lance in his tail. He set him down and they ran to the vehicle. Josh was the last inside. Lance slammed the door shut and the vehicle roared as it rapidly reversed.

Lance looked at Josh from the front seat. “Where’s the Captain?”

Josh kept reversing down the hallway. “He’s okay.”

Holly’s breathing became shallow as she lay against the wall watching Jack twitching on the floor. He sat up and watched the wound that Shadow had given him beginning to heal. He laughed and looked at Holly.

“I can not be killed.” He closed his eyes and summoned his surviving army to go get Alia.

Jack stood and the rest of his skin fell off to reveal the bony pale skeleton being covered with muscle and hardening. His head grew to resemble that of the aliens but Jack’s face was still there and the teeth.

He approached Holly. “Loyalty is something I can’t tolerate being broken.” He raised his foot and slammed it down into her head.

Josh reversed through the entrance hole that Alec had created in the mountain wall. They saw other armored vehicles coming their way from the forest.

“What the hell?” Lance said looking out the window.

“Jack is not dead. He was mutating when Shadow wounded him. He can regenerate and heal himself and communicate with those who have the serum in their blood. ” Alia said.

“They got those new vehicles. There is eight of them. We don’t stand a chance.” Lance said to Josh.

Josh put the vehicle in drive and roared across the forest floor. “We got two things in our favor. One this is Alec and two I’m driving.” He smiled at Lance.
