Chapter 14
CHAPTER 14/32
THE NEWCOMERS
Slater trudged through the darkened underground pathway that led to Beth’s Zone. He really hated this treasure hunt. He just never knew what kind of stones would turn up. Although he was 100% human, he had heightened hearing. He was born deaf to a Rich Latin family, The Vegas. Mario and Mia took him to several doctors and finally found the right one. Dr. Balding suggested an operation that would not only enable Slater to hear but it would also enhance his hearing triple times over. They didn’t hesitate and the operation was a success. There were numerous times when his parent’s wished he didn’t hear as well as he did…especially at night.
He met Beth when she saved his life years prior. Slater took his last step and was right in front of Beth’s door. He knocked on the door and waited for a response.
He heard, "Come in" as the door opened.
There stood the Angelic Vamp, Beth. She had long curly reddish-brown locks. Her heritage was of many. She was in a nutshell the female version of Angel. She too wrecked havoc back in her day. She was just too kewl to categorize so simply and easily. She had claimed many victims during her wrath as "Bad2DaBoneBeth." Now, she had a soul and like Angel, she was trying to right all of her past "Big Nasties" through ghosting the "Big Bads." By turning over a new fang, she upset many vampires. Not surprisingly, she made a pack of enemies…namely Dev!
As Slater entered the room, he sat in his favorite chair.
“Yo, what’s up B?" he asked.
"Nothing," Beth answered.
"I have some interesting info for you. I was just at The Sweet Spot when three men walked in. Two of them were obviously not from here. The other I’ve seen around town. Anyway, they were discussing a man that recently came to L.A. and you and I both know whom they were referring to. It seems your "mystery man" won’t be for long since his friends came for him. Maybe you can reveal what has been concealed and help them," he said.
Beth just sat in her favorite chair and sipped on her pig’s blood while taking in this bit of info.
WE ARE FAMILY
The three men finished their meal and left a hefty tip for their waiter. They hopped in Keith’s "PanTher" PT Cruiser. He then headed towards home, which was just three blocks down from Casa de Angel. Once Keith drove his PanTher in the driveway, the kids bombarded them. The five-year-old twins, Zack and Lisa, cried with excitement for their Uncle David. Once they mobbed him, they moved on to their "Uncle Imam". Darla welcomed her handsome hubby home and watched the show of affections outside. Darla’s reunion with the men was the "Grown Up" version of the kid’s.
They didn’t waste any time catching up with each other. The children finally got Imam to play with them and promised to get David later on. He was shaking in his boots. Keith and Darla prepared dinner and they all had a great feast. Afterwards, the children took their baths and put on their pj’s. Several hugs and kisses followed along with loads of goodnight/s. It didn’t take long for them to visit Dreamland.
Darla asked the men what was up as she stepped into the living room. Imam told her that they were there in search of a male friend in hopes that he would be able to find his daughter. She sensed that he really didn’t want to get into it at that time. She suggested that they call it a night and discuss it in the morning while the kids were away. The men all agreed and soon they all went to sleep. While Keith and Darla visited PleazureZone, David and Imam visited Dreamland like the kids.
TEACHING JACK
Lucrecia woke up a very cranky Jack at 6 in the morning. Jack took a quick shower and got dressed. Lucrecia brought a variety of bras for Jack to try on. She tried on a couple until she found the right one, a 34 B. Jack was now ready for the lesson at hand.
Lu took her to the "Study Room." She went over the Do’s and Don’ts along with the basic rules. She handed Jack two slips of papers. The first listed the "Do’s" and the "Don’t’s"…ten for each. The other listed 20 basic rules.
The first four of the "Do’s were as follows: Stay in Da Shine, Observe whom you Serve, Listen to the Glisten, and Learn that "He" is Stern.
The first three of the "Don’t’s" were as follows: Don’t Shine Da Shine, Don’t Forget where you Fit, Don’t Try to Pry. Shine popped his head in once in awhile to see how the session was going. After Jack read all that was required, she was allowed to eat her breakfast.
THE AWAKENING
The travelers were all asleep in this dingy shack that Riddie led them to. It was small and only had two rooms. Angel and Cordy occupied one while Gunn and Fred took the other. Wes, Kelly, and Riddick slept in the living area.
Angel was the first to get up and he looked around the place to see what he could find. The noise he made woke up Kelly. He told her that Cordy was having trouble seeing, so he asked her if she could look in on her. Kelly was very concerned and went to check on her friend. He suggested that he should go in also to give her some assistance. She nodded her head as they both stepped in the small room.
Angel stepped out of the room a few minutes later. As he strolled back in the room, he sensed that he was being watched so he turned around. Sure enough his orbs were eye-to eye with goggled ones. He motioned for Riddick to come outside with him. Riddick complied and followed Angel out of the run-down shack.
Damn, I bet he wants to discuss my shine job, Riddie thought.
Angel led them a few ways down from the shack.
"So, what’s up Angel?" Riddick so anxiously asked.
Angel turned towards him and told him that he wanted to know all about his shine. Riddick uttered out a few choice words following a growl. He could feel the presence of the beast within. He looked at Angel and tried to find his thoughts. He looked away when he found them.
"It all goes back to what I said earlier. I was in transport to Slam in Alpha sector 2 months ago. But I didn’t say that they were taking me back there. It seems the authorities didn’t take to rogues on Planet Shivdeep. Like you, I fought the "Big Bads" my way.
I’m pulling a shine Job on you right now and you don’t even feel it, he thought.
“I was ruthless, raw, and rough,” Riddick continued.
"And still is," he mumbled under his breath.
“One night they caught up to me and sent me to slam. While I was there, I got in a good with a doctor. Damn Dr. Balding was a kewl kat too. I paid him 20 Menthol kewls to do a surgical shine job on my eyeballs."
"So you can see who’s coming up behind you in the dark," Angel asked.
Riddie answered, "Exactly."
Riddick’s mind flashed back to what really happened 2 months prior. He saw images of being chained on the HG. Images of saving his Jack flashed before him. Next he saw how Fry risked her life…for him. While Riddie was so lost in his haunted past, he didn’t notice that Angel was just a few steps behind him.
Before Riddick could react, Angel had pulled off his goggles. He then kicked him in the back. The beast was now stirring all about…looking for release. Now, the beast had awakened!
While Riddick landed on his ass, Angel began to tie his wrists together.
“What The F…” Riddick’s speech was cut off.
The Beast was "wilyn’ out" big time. Growling…kicking…hurling out obscenities left and right. Angel then kicked him in the head, knocking him unconscious. He dragged the now incoherent Riddick to another shack nearby.
As he walked out of the shack he said, "By The Way, I'm Not Angel…I’m Angelus And You Dude Mos Def Aint Cari!”

TEACHING JACK
