The Set Up
CHAPTER 15: THE SET UP

NEXT FRIDAY MORNING -
10:00 am
*During the last week Dom and Eva had been even closer. They had told the team that they were in a relationship and everyone was happy for them ' About Time' was Mia's reaction to the news.*
Dom had woke up in a good mood. He got in the shower and when he came out he got dressed in a gray short sleeve cotton GAP shirt and cream colored slacks, he had a dark brown leather belt with matching shoes. He goes across the hall to call Mia but she was already gone. He checks downstairs for the guys but they are gone too. He calls the shop to tell the guys that he won't be coming in today, he decided to take the day off, they agreed to meet at the house later. He calls the store to speak to Mia and Eva.
"Hello?" Mia answers with a nasty attitude.
"Mia, it's me listen, I'm not going to the shop today just so you know. Can you put Eva on the phone?"
"Eva never came in to work today, isn't she with you Dom?" Mia's voice sounded angry and yet concerned.
"No, I just woke up, did you call her?" Dom didn't know if to be worried or mad.
"No! I figured you guys were together but if you speak to her tell her thanks for leaving me alone on the busiest day of the week. I gotta go I have customers" she hangs up the phone, sounding more irritated now than before.
'Where the hell is she' Dom thinks as he dials Eva's cell phone. After the third ring her voice mail picks up.
"Hi! you know who this is now tell me who you are, bye" as the beep sounds he leaves a message.
"Hey love, why aren't you at the store? Call me and let me know everything's OK, alright bye" he hangs up and decides to go by her house. He drives up and doesn't see her car, he figures she had something to do with Mini or Coco.
The rest of the day he runs some errands and goes to the liquor store and picks up some cases of Coronas. He figures the guys are gonna chill with him after work being his birthday and all, even though no one seemed to remember. During the day he kept calling Mia but Eva never came in. He looks at his watch and it's 4pm already, he's headed back home when his phone rings. He looks at his caller ID and it's Eva.
"Yeah, Eva where are you, are you OK?"
"Uhm, babe I need a favor my car broke down and I need a lift" Eva says with a shaky voice.
"OK well, where are you?" Dom asks again.
"I'm... I'm in Orange" sounding like a little puppy dog."In"In Orange?! That's like 50 miles away, what in the world are you doing in Orange?" Dom barks at her.
"I was doing a friend a favor and got stranded, Dom please come and get me, don't argue with me right now OK" Eva is pleading him and sounding scared.
"Eva what happened are you alright?"
"Yes I'm fine I'll tell you later, call me when your near the exit I'll give you the address" she hangs up the phone and Dom goes to pick her up. About 40 minutes later he calls her and she gives him the address and he finds it without a problem. As he approaches the corner he can see her car parked and Eva is sitting inside the car.
"Excuse me miss are you having car trouble?" Dom asks flirting as he gets out of his car.
"Very funny Dom, my battery is dead" Eva gets out and looks at her car with sad eyes.
"And no one wanted to give this fine ass woman a jump?" Dom says winking at her and opening her hood.
"I'm not letting any creep mess with my baby"
"I thought I was your baby" Dom connects the cables to her battery and Eva starts the car.
"You are my baby, thanks!" Eva looks jumpy and Dom notices. She gets in her car and looks at him.
"What's the matter Eva?......... What's in Orange that made you miss work?" Dom asks as he leans down her side with the door open. Eva sighs, grips her wheel and looks to her far right side and stares. Dom looks towards the direction she is looking and all he can see is a court house.
"Would you talk to me already, what's going on?" Dom is growing impatience, something was going on and she was stalling.
"My brother got locked up last night and he called me to come and bail him out" she looked up at Dom slowly, knowing he would disapprove of her actions, but before he can get a word out she continues,
"Dom please understand he is my brother! I had to, I'm all he's got" Eva was grabbing on so tightly to the wheel her knuckles were turning white.
"Eva, he's a grown man he needs to learn there's consequences to his actions" she looks up at him with apologetic eyes and he says,
"OK fine I understand, so where is he?" he looks in her eyes and she begins to tear.
"Dom , they're holding him for attempted murder, but I know he didn't do it, somehow he was blamed for it" Eva looked like she was going to loose it, it was the first time he saw her like this and he was worried.
"Murder? Eva I'm sorry" Dom hugs her tight and decides she isn't in any condition to drive, he secures her car so he can come back for it later and she gets in his car as he drives off on his way home. They are about 10 minutes away and Eva has calmed down and told him there was nothing she could do for her brother for the moment and she was gonna try to figure things out. Dom calls the shop to tell Vince to pick Eva's car up but no one picks up, as he hangs up Eva's phone rings and she picks it up.
"Hello!" she says trying to hide her still shaky voice.
"Hey!.......... yeah I'm fine..................Dom's right here" she looks over to Dom "It' s you sister she says she's gonna be home late so she can't cook dinner" she continues her conversation with Mia " yeah we should be home in like 10 minutes so I'll see if I can start something up, OK, see ya later, bye" she hangs up and a little while later they pull up in front of the house.
" Looks like were the first one's home tonight, it's 7:30 already and no one is home?" he asks him self but Eva hears him and looks towards the house and sees something.
"Dom it looks like the front door is open" she says as she walks up the porch stairs.
"Eva wait let me go check it out first, stay here" he begins his way inside but Eva follows him close behind. As they both enter, the house looks a mess, chairs turned over and papers all over the floor.
"What the hell happened here?" Dom looks around in shock. "I'm gonna go look around and see if anything is missing"
"Dom be careful what if they are still in the house?" Eva says whispering and looking around, she sees the metal bat that Mia keeps behind the door and picks it up.
"I'll go check upstairs, you stay down here, OK?" Dom said pointing to the floor making sure she understood to stay put.
Dom goes upstairs and can tell they've been ransacking thru the closets, as he goes to reach for his bedroom door he hears someone yell.
"DOOOOOOOOOOOM! HELP!"
He recognizes Eva's voice and chills go down his spine. He rushes downstairs and can't see Eva anywhere, he hears a loud rattle coming from the backyard and heads outside.
