Chapter 16
The next morning, Lit’l Bit declined from selling to go to Brooklyn. As she had explained to Briar before, she still hadn’t told Spot that she and Jack were back together. Briar had arched an eyebrow and said, "That’s not all you’re gonna do in Brooklyn." Ducking when a pillow was thrown squarely at her head.
"What’re you going to do today?" Lit’l Bit asked Briar as they went downstairs.
"I’ve got an appointment at the hospital," she said in a low voice.
"Briar! Why didn’t you tell me before? I’m coming with you."
"No, you’re not. I didn’t tell you before because I wanna do this alone. I don’t feel like being taken care of, I just wanna be by myself."
Lit’l Bit looked at her skeptically. "Are you sure?"
"Yes, I’m sure." She smiled as if to reassure her and they parted ways. Briar stopped walking and watched as Lit’l Bit made her way down the street, then turned around a corner and disappeared from sight. Briar took a deep breath, looked around then made a right turn towards St. Paul’s hospital. Snoddy was just coming out of the Lodging House when he saw her and decided to go talk to her, ask her about her fight with David.
Boy she’s walking fast! Wonder where she’s going. He thought to himself. He kept an eye on her till he saw her walk into St. Paul’s.
He didn’t go in after her but waited outside till she came back out, which was a good two hours later. She was shaking slightly and her legs didn’t seem to want to support her weight as she stumbled out and leaned against a lamppost.
"Briar? Are you okay?"
"Snoddy? What... what are you doing here?" she gasped trying to frown at him.
"What were you doing in there? What’s going on?" He put a hand on her sweaty forehead and looked her in the eye.
"Snoddy I did something awful! Oh god, I did something bad, something very bad!" She swooned and Snoddy had to support her till they got back to the Lodging House where she fell into a restless sleep with Snoddy sitting by her side.
In Brooklyn, Spot took Lit’l Bit for a walk around town while she tried to come up with the best way to break the news to him.
"Spot, there’s... something I gotta tell ya," she said. It was late in the afternoon and they had been walking and talking all day.
"Oh I forgot!" he snapped his fingers and reached into his pocket. "I got something for you. It’s not much, but I thought, what the hell!" he thrust a small box into her hands and stopped walking for her to open it.
"Spot, what did you get me?" she smiled up at him gratefully and opened her gift. "Oh Spot! Spot, it’s beautiful!"
She held up a silver bracelet that winked in the sun. One side of it was engraved with her name and on the inside, it was engraved with Spot’s.
"They’re called Italian charm bracelets," he told her as he snapped it around her wrist. He snuck a look at her eyes and blushed. "You hate it don’t you"?
"Are you kidding? Nobody’s ever given me anything like this before! I don’t know what to say!" she kissed him softly on the lips. "Thank you."
That night, Spot made sure the door to his room was locked before taking Lit’l Bit in his arms and kissing her passionately. He slid his hands under her shirt and felt her breasts with his hands then his mouth. He pulled her pants off and their lips met again in a searing, heated kiss. Lit’l Bit unbuttoned his shirt slowly, kissing his bare chest and neck as he stepped out of his pants.
Spot slid his warm mouth down to her neck, feeling her tremble at his touch. He backed her against the wall and she slid her hand down to his cock and started moving it up and down the hardened erection. He moaned and pushed her hand away, wanting release from the desire building up inside him. He brought her legs around his waist and pushed into her till his entire length was inside her. She dug her nails into his shoulders as he thrust in and out forcefully, sending shocking waves of pleasure surging through her body. He started moving faster and harder. Sweat shone on his forehead as he cried out in pleasure and pain.
Lit’l Bit moaned through their frantic kisses, wrapping her legs tighter around him. Spot threw his head back and a scream tore painfully out of his throat as he shot off into her, stopping his movements abruptly till the orgasm passed. He thrust slowly, resting his head on her shoulder and trying to catch his breath. He kissed her once and pulled out, resting his head against the wall as she got shakily to her feet.
"Spot."
"Yeah?" he half-whispered.
"I can’t see you anymore."
Spot backed away from her and frowned. "What’re you talking about?"
"Jack and I got back together, and I told him I was gonna be with him from now on." Lit’l Bit stumbled over the words, unable to meet his eyes. "Spot, you’re... a really great guy and I had so much fun with you but..."
"But you want to be with Jack," Spot finished her sentence in a sharp voice that cut through her like glass.
"I’m sorry." Lit’l Bit looked down and saw the charm bracelet on her wrist. She started to unhook it saying, "I guess I should give this back to you now."
"Keep it," he interrupted.
"No hard feelings?" she ventured carefully.
"No, not really." He shook his head quietly. "I finally meet a girl I’m really interested in and she leaves," he sighed.
"C’mon, don’t take it like that. We can still be friends. We’d BETTER be friends!" she grinned and felt comfortable again when she saw him smile too.
"Yeah, yeah we’ll be friends." Spot watched as she pulled her clothes on, careful to memorize everything about her.
"What? What’s that face?" she asked smiling.
"Nothing. Come on." He put his clothes back on and opened the door for her. As she stepped out, he held her arm and kissed her full on the lips. When they parted he said, "I’ll take you home."
