Chapter 16 – Too Easy

Oria chuckled as a hand grasped her arm and tugged her upright to face him, “Commodore… long time no see.” She purred as Norrington glared down at her, raising an eyebrow when she didn’t try and fight him at all. He spun her to face the other way and prepared a pair of manacles.

“Someone’s betrayed you, we had a little note saying exactly where you would be and when.” Oria grinned and nodded, calligraphy had its uses in disguising hand writing.

“I know and I know the author of the note… So tell me, do you now intend to throw me in jail and hang me in the morning?” Norrington smiled faintly and fastened a pair of manacles about her wrists tightly. His fingers trailing over the smooth tanned skin beneath reverently.

“Actually, we’re going to use you as bait for a certain pirate, I’m sure you’ve heard of him. Just as I’m sure he won’t be able to resist coming to your rescue all guns blazing.” Oria glanced over her shoulder at him with a confident smile.

“Really? You think so? I’m flattered that you think he thinks that much of me but he was the one who stranded me here in the first place Mr Norrington.” James straightened slightly and looked at her curiously.

“Then you’ve got a week for him to rescue you before we hang you.” He leaned closer so only she could hear him, “Or you could repent your sins…” Oria smiled and chuckled lightly, her fingers brushing against his groin. He stepped away from her sharply.

:/

Will woke slowly rubbing the sleep from his eyes as the rising sun tickled his eyelids. Throwing the covers off himself he sat up and stretched as his eyes were automatically drawn to Oria’s bed, he took a double take before cursing and leaping up wide awake. He threw the covers off the bed desperately and froze when he realised she was no where in the house, “Oh shit.” He hurriedly dragged his clothes on and headed out of the house imagining all the ways Jack would find to murder him, when he paused.

In front of his face pinned on the back of the door by a dagger was a note, he unpinned it and cursed as he read through the calligraphic script. He cursed again already imagining that grin that would be on her lips knowing that he would have no choice but to follow through. Slamming the note down he picked up a purse of coins and slammed the door after him, damn the woman and her infernal plans.

:/

Oria watched as Norrington rooted through all of her belongings and sent the occasional glare back at her. His fingers brushed against roughened cloth and he lifted it free of the jacket with a smirk, “And what might this be?” Oria hid the smirk, how easy it was to trick people into doing anything.

“Ah that, very interesting piece of cloth that. Found it in a Turkish prison, very unhappy they were when they found it was gone. Handsome reward for its return, or so I’ve heard.” Norrington glanced back at her.

“Which Turkish prison?” Oria pressed herself against the bars lazily trailing a finger over the metal lightly.

“The one in the middle of the ocean that you do dealings with. Went to break someone free but he was already dead and this was far more interesting. I suggest you don’t give it back, but if you don’t you’ll be an instrument of theft I suppose. Rather a black mark on your record isn’t it?” He dropped it as if stung before wrapping it inside another piece of cloth and scribbling on a sheet of parchment hurriedly.

“I’m sending it back.” Oria celebrated inside, the cloth containing her drawing would arrive in the hands of her little assistant and he would ensure it was only Jack that retrieved it. She pouted pretending to be upset.

“Is there nothing I can do to change your mind?” Norrington glanced back at her and shook his head fervently before striding out of the prison quickly. Oria laughed to herself, it was just too easy.

:/

Will dragged the cloak tighter about himself and hurried down the steps and into the cells. Oria stood up swiftly and smiled as he tossed the hood back, “You’re insane, you do know that don’t you.” He hissed at her, she chuckled and watched as he handed her the lock picking tools, she twirled them expertly in her fingers and unlocked the door quickly.

“I’ll repay you someday, don’t you worry.” Will scowled at her not believing for one second that she would ever repay him. She caught the look and paused, “You don’t believe me? Then should I repay you now?” Her voice dropped and she trailed a finger down the side of his face stepping up to press her body against his. She smirked as he blushed and turned away, “I won’t bite.” She whispered softly as hot lips graced his and he couldn’t help but respond, his mind intoxicated as she slowly stepped away, “I keep my promises Will. Don’t forget that.” She dragged all of her belongings back onto her frame and followed him back out of the prison as he fought to keep any more lurid thoughts out of his mind.

“You did what you needed to do?” He whispered as they cleared the top of the steps. Oria nodded and crept along in the shadows after him.

“You got my list and everything on it?” Will nodded and pushed her behind him as a guard stalked past looking at him suspiciously. He smiled and nodded smartly at the man who merely rolled his eyes and muttered about guard wannabes before trudging off.

“Yes and do you realise just how much trouble we could get in for this?” Oria chuckled and stepped alongside him as they neared the docks.

“But you… ‘love’… the adrenaline rush.” She grasped him around the neck without warning and tugged him against her crushing herself between him and the wall as a guard passed behind them. Will held his breath as her eyes watched the guard over his shoulder, she was too close to him and it was causing his breath to hasten again. She pushed him away sharply and stalked towards the docks at a faster pace and he began to wonder if the whole kiss thing had been spontaneous to reassure him in some way. “Which ship?” She hissed as Will stepped alongside her and glanced down the line of small boats before pointing to a small two person boat. She raised an eyebrow and stared back at him pointedly, he shrugged.

“It floats.” Oria smiled faintly as if humouring a child.

“I meant a ship, passage on a ship. A ship we can commandeer, this… this we might just about be able to get to Tortuga on. We’ll have to do better from there.” She muttered as Will glared down at her.

“We?” Oria paused and glanced back at him.

“Well you don’t have to come if you don’t want, just thought it might give you a bit of excitement. I mean it’s not like your life is… inspiring in the slightest.” He scowled at her comment and followed her to the little boat.

“I enjoy being a blacksmith, good honest work, it pays well.” Oria ignored him and pushed the little boat out into the ocean before clambering in, Will clambered in after her. She picked up the oars and started to row them out of the bay.

Will glanced over his shoulder at the fading sight of Port Royal its familiar glittering lights twinkling farewell. He sighed, “Bloody pirates.” Oria smirked and he hated her for it, she had done something to make him follow her. She’d made him feel responsible for her and it wasn’t fair. He had a good life and the love of a woman he adored, Oria was just like Jack, twisting his entire perception of everything and making him so confused all he could do was follow.
