Goodbye Blacksmith, Hello Pirate
Chapter 17: Goodbye Blacksmith, Hello Pirate
A/N: Princess of the Pearl: Thanks for your reviews! I’m glad that you’re still enjoying the story…and not to worry things are just starting to get good!
Sparrowlover: Thank you for your reviews! I’m glad that you liked the sappy chapter between Jack and Elizabeth…but now things will take a dark turn where Will is concerned. Hope you enjoy it!
Disclaimer: Nope Disney still hasn’t given up POTC or Jack Sparrow so I’m still not getting paid to write this story!
Will stood back a smile slowly stretching across his face as he admired the ship that floated at the pier he was standing on. Not just any ship…his ship, the ship he had paid the local craftsmen to build. And now it was finally finished. It was beautiful…made of strong teakwood that had been beautifully polished. The sails were a dark crimson, almost blood red. At the bow of the ship was a maiden who had her right arm bent across her chest holding a cross and her left arm hung down at her side. She was dressed like a roman goddess complete with a crown of olive leaves upon her head. His captain’s quarters was quite grand with a large sprawling window across the back of it and furnished with handcrafted teakwood furniture. Yes his ship was beyond what he had envisioned and it would take on the job of hunting down Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swann quite well. Turning to his crew…or at least the beginning of it he spoke up.
“Alright men…let’s set sail for Tortuga. We need to gather more crewmen.”
Nodding they headed towards the gangplank to board the ship. Will watched them as they climbed onboard his ship. The first had been Maxwell Taylor…or as he liked to be called Max. Max was a huskily built young man of about twenty three with sandy blond hair and bright blue eyes. His reasoning for joining the crew was to get the opportunity to leave Keswick Bay and travel the world. Next to board was Sam Reckitt. Sam was an older man of around thirty five with reddish hair and green eyes with freckles dotting his face giving him a younger appearance. He was tall and lanky but had a good sense of humor and was quite knowledgeable about navigation. Finally the last to board was John Bantam. He was Will’s age about twenty four with dark brown hair and coal black eyes. John was solidly built and was equally as good with a sword as Will. He was quiet and good at fixing just about anything that was broken so Will thought he would be a good man to have onboard. Once they had made port in Tortuga he would be able to select another four or five men to complete his crew. The only thing that was really on his mind was getting revenge on Jack and Elizabeth for what they had done to him some months ago. The thought of having revenge was what had driven him to have a ship commissioned. And now that she was ready he could put his plan for revenge into motion.
Sam approached Will clearing his throat softly before speaking.
“Begging your pardon sir…but have you thought of a name for her?”
“A name? Yes…The Devil’s Revenge.”
“The Devil’s Revenge? That’s a bit dark don’t you think sir?”
“It is…but revenge is dark Sam…and ugly.”
“Aye sir. Is that why you wanted to have her built?”
“It’s exactly why I wanted to have her built. I was wronged Sam…and I intend on making it right.”
“With all due respect sir…sometimes revenge don’t make things right…it just makes them worse.”
“Well that’s a risk I’m willing to take. Set sail for Tortuga…I’ll be in my cabin if you need me.”
“Aye Captain Turner.”
Sam headed towards the wheel to prepare to cast off as Will strode into his cabin shutting the door behind him. Yes he would have his revenge…no matter what the price. Jack and Elizabeth deserved to get what was coming to them. He scowled as he sank down into his chair to look at the navigational charts that were strewn across it. Reaching for his bottle of whiskey he pulled the cork from it. Bringing it to his lips he paused when a flash of Jack flickered in his mind. Frowning he looked at the bottle for a moment before setting it back down on the table. Standing he walked over to his desk and grabbed a glass that was sitting on it. Walking back over to his table he sat back down and poured some whiskey into his glass. Bringing the glass to his lips he sipped some of the amber colored liquid giving a slight wince at the potency of it. His dark eyes shifted to the navigational charts but were quickly drawn to the plain silver band that sat on the area where the Caribbean and in turn Port Royal was located. Will reached for the ring closing his fingers around it. Opening his hand he stared down at the band that was lying flat on his palm. A fresh scowl etched onto his face as he began to think about Elizabeth. If it hadn’t been for Jack Sparrow they would have been married by now. But he had ruined everything. Oh how he hated Jack Sparrow! Tilting his head Will frowned more as he thought about the two of them together.
No it wasn’t just Jack’s fault that he had lost Elizabeth…it was Elizabeth’s fault too. He had thought that he would love her forever but he was wrong. Because now he found when he thought about her it wasn’t a pleasant remembrance. No…now he was filled with anger and resentment toward the woman he had once loved more than his own life. But she had betrayed him by falling in love with Jack Sparrow and she needed to pay for that. And pay she would…deeply. Will closed his fingers around the ring squeezing hard pressing it into his palm. He could feel the band starting to bite into his flesh a little but he didn’t feel the pain at all. His mind was too bent on the sweet revenge he would have on Jack and Elizabeth for their betrayal and how wonderful it would feel to make them pay to notice any pain.
A/N: Okay Will has officially checked out…well the nice guy Will has anyway. Now he’s a maniac completely hell bent on getting revenge on Jack and Elizabeth. Please read and review!!
