Interesting

I've been able to work on it more, so hopefully I'll get the chance to post more. It's turning out to be a lot longer then I thought it would, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Again, please review, I would love to know what the thoughts are of those who read it. So please share them.

She awoke screaming silently, hitting and fighting against someone only she could see. Riddick’s strong arms wrapped around her, holding her still against him until her dream fell aside.

Slowly she came to her senses, and pulled away from him. She looked up at him with a frown.

“Knew you’d come here, overrode the locking code.”

She shrugged, knowing she shouldn’t have been surprised, and turned away from him, wrapping a blanket around herself.

“Never should have brought you here. I’m sorry you’re involved.”

She turned, surprised and angry at the same time. After all of this, there was no way she was blaming him. He had needed a friend, someone on his side unconditionally. All that had happened since had only shown her that he had needed it even more then he had known. She shook her head emphatically.

“No.” She managed to croak out, causing herself horrible pain, but she had to be sure he knew.

“Don’t..”

Kylie glared at him, silencing his protests. “Not your fault….never..”

He voice sounded like gravel had been poured down her throat. “Her…” She tried to finish, but the pain was too much. She raised a hand to her throat, the other wiping the tears from her face.

He looked at her wordlessly for a long moment, then stood, walking into the bathroom. He returned with a glass of water, and handed her some pills. “I know it’ll hurt, but you have to take these.”

She somehow managed to force the pills down. The cold water was a little soothing on her throat, but she still was in a lot of pain.

“Wrapped your own ribs, pretty good job of it.”

She shrugged, eyes on the wall in front of her. Hard to believe how quickly things could change.

”You’ve done it before.”

She nodded. Should he really be so surprised that she had? She looked at him, wishing she could speak, but knowing that for the time being she wouldn’t be able to.

The sharp sound of a knock on the hull of the ship by the ramp entrance interrupted her thoughts, and she slipped on a robe, belting it as she went to see who it was. She left Riddick there in the cabin.

As the ramp descended, she saw Lord Vaako standing there.

“Wait, I am only here to talk to you.”

She felt a hand on her shoulder, and taking a deep breath, nodded, allowing him to come slightly closer.

“I am sorry, not for what she did, as I can’t apologize for someone else’s actions, but for not seeing that she would do it. What she did to you was dishonorable and despicable. When the time comes, and you desire justice, I will not stop you, and I will help as much as I am able.”

Kylie frowned thoughtfully, and then nodded. She doubted he would have had anything to do with it in the first place, but usually it seemed that she was never far from him, and she had no intentions of having anything to do with her until she was ready.

“In the meanwhile, you will have the protection of my unit, until you are able to protect yourself again.”

With that, she shook her head emphatically. She pointed at her ship, then at herself. She followed that by pointing at the entrance to the hangar, and holding up two fingers.

“Two people there, no closer, you’ll stay here?”

She nodded. She felt safe there, even if Riddick could get in, he wasn’t a threat to her. To be honest with herself, she felt much safer with him, and she never had the nightmares when he was close.

“As you wish.” He nodded, and she turned to go back into the ship. Riddick walked down the ramp, speaking to him.

With a shrug she returned to the cabin, sitting on the edge of the bed. She was feeling the effects of the pills, and while the pain was reduced to a tolerable level, she was feeling drowsy.

With a yawn, she curled up on her bed, dozing off.
