Dreams and a request
Pain, sharp pain through her back. Then, nothing, soothing quiet, painless blackness.
A light, bright, warm, calling to her. Floating forward, into the light.
Kylie’s eyes opened to see the ceiling of the ship’s cabin.
Silence was all that greeted her, so she rose, walking to the flight deck, and settling into the pilot’s seat.
The footsteps behind her startled her, and she turned quickly, seeing Riddick standing there. She had to blink, a shape stood behind him, like fog, before vanishing into the air.
She looked past him, confused, but it was gone.
“Brought you some food.” Riddick handed her a tray, and sat in the other seat.
She smiled, nodding her thanks and slowly ate, the room remaining silent except for the few noises she made.
“Thank you.” She whispered, the swelling in her throat subsiding enough she could do that much.
He nodded.
“I’ve….been dreaming..” Her voice was soft, but she knew he could hear her. She leaned back in her seat, eyes closing. “I am….I don’t want to be alone when I sleep.”
He looked at her, and she opened her eyes again, feeling it. ”We can’t trust any of them, you know that.”
“Not them, no.” She turned, meeting his eyes. “You.”
He raised an eyebrow as he looked at her.
“You’re the only one I trust, I don’t want any of them in here. I..I don’t want you to leave me when I am sleeping.”
He didn’t say anything, opting to stand and walk across the room.
She was quiet for a moment, then stood, touching his arm and making him turn around to face him.
“Please Riddick, don’t leave me alone.” Her voice was soft and almost pleading as she looked up at him.
He said nothing, and after a moment, walked past her and out of her view. She watched him, and walked back into the bedroom, sitting on the edge of the bed.
When she heard the hiss of the ramp closing and sealing itself, she buried her face in her pillow. “Guess I’ve become more trouble then I’m worth.” She whispered to herself before she started to cry.
