REVIEW ME!

“You know this young man then?” Barns asked. Calypso looked a bit shocked.
“Ahh, yes Mister Barns. I know Calypso. I was wondering if you could allow me to hire her out to my home. She has the requirements I need for a maid.” Will Turner said.
“I don’t know. She’s a bit rusty on manners and is a tad thick in the head if you know what I mean. She don’t like people. Won’t touch em’ if she can manage, has fits when she does. Think she was born that way.” He whispered loudly. Calypso felt fire in her cheeks.
“Is that right Calypso?” Will asked.
“Yes sir. I’m as stupid as they come.” She said, humiliated.
She felt tears. She looked up at Will. She needed to talk to him desperately. He could read it in her eyes. He smiled warmly and beckoned for her to come closer. She did, however slowly, and hesitantly. She didn’t want to get close enough to touch. He put his arm on her shoulder, which was thankfully clothed.
“I don’t think so. You’re a strong girl. Would you like to say something?” He asked.
“Yessir. Thank you and your friend, mister…Smith, I saw last night. I saw Him too.” She asked.
“See what I mean? Stupid.” Barns said. He hadn’t seen the look in Will’s eyes.
“I think she’s what I need. Whether or not you believe she is stupid. And you will let me take her, or I will report.” Will said.
“Report what?” Barns said, a bit uncomfortable.
“This.” Will said, lifting Calypso’s arm and pulling back the shirt sleeve, open wounds. “Are you not supposed to care for their injuries? Not cause them?”
“Take the whelp. I don’t need her stupidity here anyway.” Barns said and turned away.
“Thank you for freein me sir. But you need not take me in. I can manage on me own till a pirate kills me o course.” Calypso said the moment he was out of earshot.
“I have no qualms with taking you in. There is something about you that I find awfully familiar. Jack thought the same thing when I spoke to him a few days ago.” Will said quietly.
“Few days ago? This was last night.” Calypso said as they went to gather what things she had.
“Nay, it’s been over a week since we helped you out. Come now, there is much we need to talk about.” He said.
They walked for a while, headed towards the rich part of town. Calypso felt incredibly dirty looking at all the fancy women walking around. As she had been taught by Barns, she kept her face towards the ground, so as not to offend them. Her ragged dress was filthy and her skin darker than that of the pale ladies. She saw the estate that they were headed to. She stopped. Will noticed a moment later.
“What is wrong?” He asked.
“I ain’t nothing more but filth. You don’ want me in there.” S.” She said.
“Nonsense. Once Elizabeth sees you she will do with you what she can.” Will said.
“She won’t beat me sir?” Calypso asked.
“I would do nothing of the sort. You look oddly familiar.” She said.
“I ain’t nothin more than a ragamuffin that you would see shoutin wares in town mistress.” Calypso said.
“There is no need for that. Call me Elizabeth. What is your name?” She said.
“I’m Calypso Marie. What me last name be is a mystery. It was drawn on some paper, but that be about it. I don’t even know if it be me last name.” Calypso said.
“Well, come then Calypso. We’ll give you a proper wash, and find you something to wear while in the meantime I send for a tailor to fix you up with something that has a better fit. You are about my size.” Elizabeth said. She began to walk.
“You see, she’s not a monster. Come along, there is much to be done, and she will grow two heads if it isn’t done within the day.” Will said.
“I heard that Will Turner. Be careful that you are not sleeping on the floor tonight.” Elizabeth said. He winced, and Calypso laughed.
Once inside the spacious home Calypso had to bite her cheek to keep from thinking she was in a dream. The place was beautiful. It was large as well. Well lit, and warm. She couldn’t have asked for more from someone like Will, who looked nothing more than a blacksmith. Elizabeth looked like a wealthy fop from England. She was the governor’s daughter, that much Calypso knew from the start. She was still in wonder as they went from room to room. She didn’t notice Elizabeth speaking to a maid, nor that she was being led towards the bathing house. By the time she realized what was happening, the maids were helping her out of her dress.
“I can bathe on my own thank you.” Calypso said quietly.
“We have strict orders miss.” The maid said. Calypso sighed.
“Something’s wrong with me. I can’t allow people to touch me.” Calypso explained.
“No miss; there isn’t nothing wrong with you. We would have noticed. Besides, it won’t take long. Don’t be afraid of getting wet now.” The maid said.
Calypso scowled. She got in the tub and braced herself for the shock. She was glad this was a maid, who had seen little violence. She only jumped when she first felt her hands washing her hair. Foggy images, filled with laughter. Calypso rolled her eyes. Maids. They enjoyed themselves with what they could. Oh well. The maid left her to her devices, allowing her to clean her skin on her own. Then she came back while Calypso was still lounging in the still warm water. She held a robe for her, and when Calypso saw it, snatched it and put it on. She was wondering what kind of person would be needed to become a maid. She knew she couldn’t do it.
“Miss, your new dress is over there, we needs to put the petticoat on first though. I don’t think you’ve much experience with it so I will help. Call me when you need me.” She said.
Calypso nodded. The maid had been toweling her hair dry. She looked in the mirror, surprised at the face that looked back. She was used to filthy cracked mirrors, and the dirty face that looked back, but now, there was a clean face. The skin was tanned, a nice light bronze. Her black hair looked healthy and clean. Her cheeks were high, and accented her eyes. She smiled. The one thing that she prided herself on aside from her long hair was her ability to keep her teeth clean and white. She shook her head and began to dress. She called the maid in as she attempted to get into her third layer.
“It’s so much easier when you’re the one helping. I’ve attended ladies at my keeper’s tavern. Do I need to wear the corset?” She asked.
“No miss. Miss Elizabeth was thinking that you wouldn’t need that at this time. Especially with the injuries that Master Will spoke of.” The maid said.
“Wonderful. How do they breath in those things?” She asked.
“I don’t know. Of course, they are a rage all about.” The maid said. She finished. “There, you look like an Indian princess.” She said.
“Hmm, it makes me wonder about the truth of my parentage.” She murmured to herself.
The maid heard nothing and as soon as she was finished with Calypso’s dress, she led her through the halls to a chamber. Inside was a table, and her rescuer. He stood at the far end talking to another servant. As soon as he looked up and saw her, he jumped to his feet.
“Ahh, Calypso. You look much better, aside from the bruises. I hope you are hungry.” He said, as a door opened.
