Jareth entered the throne room and called a goblin to him. "Bring the Gnome to me!"

As the underling scurried away Jareth looked to Sarah's children. Chole looked very like her mother, she had the same fierce independence in her eyes and already she was a beauty.

Chloe knew where she was and refuse to give in to her fear; her mommy would save her. Still, she clutched Duncan to her to keep him close.

Duncan looked like a typical four month old with bright dark eyes and a ready smile. They were perfect; they were Sarah's.

Hoggle was dragged into the throne room and was squealing until he saw the children. "Chloe! Duncan!" His wrinkled little face screwed up in anger. "Jareth, these Children.."

"Hogbrain," the goblin king interrupted "These children are to be taken to your hovel and you are to take see to their needs." Jareth waved his hand dismissively. Two Goblins came to lead the children off. Chole looked to Hoggle and he gave her a nervous smile. She lifted her head let let herself be dragged away.

"Jareth, what are they doing here?" Hoggle turned on the king.

"Henchwort, I do not make a practice of explaining myself to inferior beings. It is enough that I ask you to tend to them."

"If you hurt one hair.."

"You'll what? Jareth stood up menacingly.

Hoggle looked cowed, then remembered whose children he was talking about. " I don't know but I'll..."

"Oh hush hog brain, you of all people should know I mean Sarah no harm, especially her children. I need you to take them and watch over them. After all," Jareth assumed his usual stance, "I can't have the brats running about bothering me now can I?"

Hoggle nodded, he knew that Jareth had been watching over Sarah and her children for a long time. But he never thought Jareth would bring them here. As he left Hoggle muttered, "It won't work."

Jareth heard Hoggle's comment and for a moment considered giving into the anger that flared up at the Dwarf's insubordinate behaviour, but only a moment.

Jareth had surprised himself by revealing such weakness to the dwarf. He had only meant to keep Sarah's childhood friend from helping her this time. This time Sarah wouldn't escape him, and with her by his side he would accomplish what no one before him could.

Sarah was alone on a dusty hill. There was no clock, nor was there beginnings of a new day. It was night and the black sky overhead held a pale moon. Night in the Labyrinth.. The only night Sarah had spent in that mixed up 13 hours when her brother was stolen was in a spell.

A spell that had all of her childish dreams contained in one bubble. That night was as close as Sarah ever got to staying with the strange Goblin King.

Once again Sarah started down the dusty hill to the wall of stone. She expected to find Hoggle wandering the outskirts of the Goblin Maze, but he wasn't there. There was noone. Se got to the large wooden and iron door and she pushed.

Where was Hoggle? He was the one who was supposed to extermanate the tiny faeries that were more like pests than the beings she once believed them to be. It seemed that they slept at night and that Hoggle too was in his bed.

The door refused to move. Sarah couldn't push it so she tried to pull and it moved slightly before stopping, as if it were locked.

"Oh no Sarah, The Labyrinth isn't for you; not this night." A smooth voice whispered in her ear.

Sarah jumped and stepped backwards into the lean body of the voice. He didn't move, a wall as sturdy as the one in front of her.

His leather-gloved hand lifted her hair and his mouth placed a gentile bite where shoulder met her neck.

Sarah jumped forward and turned around flustered. "What!! How am I going to get my children back if I can't solve the Labyrinth?"

"Sarah," he whispered her name like a caress, "You surprise me. Did you honestly think that after solving my Labyrinth once I would let you back? No.." he moved forward trapping her against the door. " I have a much better plan for you. One I am sure you will not find too.." he cracked a wry smile showing his sharp teeth, "daunting."

Sarah was unnerved, this was a new Jareth, and different from the one she remembered. Not only did he look different, he acted it as well. There was no glitter flying about, no dramatic gesture. His clothes spoke of elegance and power without the flamboyance that had surrounded him before.

His blonde hair, no longer had streaks of colour in it; it wasn't high up like some fairytale lore. It was long, fine and golden, hanging loose about his shoulders with a slight wave to it. There were two tiny plaits to keep it from falling about his face.

His eyes were different somehow was well. They were still dramatic, but they seemed less fantastic and more.... Seductive.

"I will not.... I'm a married woman!" She said throwing him a defiant look. Determined Sarah straightened up. She couldn't free herself but she was ready to fight.

Jareth just looked at her and stepped back. His eyes laughed at her, she was a plaything and he knew she would submit eventually.

"You face me once and I failed. I know it and you know it. I am not asking for a battle of wills Sarah. You can match me or beat me at that. What I ask is this. One night with me and no other, no thoughts of any other soul during this night. In the morning you and the children will be free."

"How are you going to assure me my children are safe?"

Jareth flipped his hand and a bubble appeared showing Sarah her children. Duncan was lying on a blanket giggling while his sister waved something that looked like a pump spray can in the air.

"That's..." the bubble burst and Jareth's eyes dominated Sarah's vision.

"They are safe"

"And how will you prevent me from thinking of another, how will you know when I do?"

"Sarah, sweet Sarah. I know when you think of me, you do it very often. Even when you are with Him" Jareth's eyes grew cold and his mouth tightened " He might no notice your attention wavering in moments of. ...distraction, he is rarely that attentive."

Sarah blushed at the implication, angry and embarrassed at once. "David is a.."

"His name isn't to be mentioned again." Jareth moved in and rubbed his nose along Sarah's chin. "Do ave ave an agreement?"

Sarah swallowed hard, Jareth was taking liberties and she didn't like her body's responses to those liberties.

His touch was everything she dreamed it to be and more than she remembered. At the ball he had held her and sung to her and it had stirred feelings, but this was different. It was animalistic.

Her pulse quickened when his breath moved over skr skin, and when his made contact with hers she felt it in the core of her being.

"I won't sleep with you." She said, not sure of herself.

"I'm not thinking of sleeping myself" he breathed and he took her earlobe into his mouth.

Sarah held her breath, this was wrong. She pulled herself away and looked at the Goblin King.

"I will not betray D.."

"Don't mention that name!" Jareth shouted standing to his full height angry.

"I will not.." Sarah said again stronger now that she didn't have Jareth's mouth turning her insides to jelly.

"I know who he is to you. I was there that day..." Jareth said sounding defeated.

Her eyes widened "It was you." She came closer. As she approached something in Jareth changed and he became the king again.

"Do you agree? One night with me and then your children go free?"

Resolute Sarah nodded, Jareth's eye gleamed and he titled his head to kiss her, but sh backed away.

"Bring you here is one thing, but we cant stay here all night, so I need to touch you to get us to a place a touch more suitable." And again he moved in for a kiss.

"A touch isn't what you are trying to do" Sarah backed away again.

"Humour me. These," he raised his gloved hands "can't provide the touch I require."

"Then take the gloves off." Jareth shook his head " That wouldn't be suitable.. let me do it my way and you can ask me what you will."

Again Sarah conceded and let Jareth have his way. He moved forward and pressed his lips to hers in a chaste kiss.

The world melted away.
