Chapter II
Chapter Two
Arthur was completely thrown by the question and laughed, trying to cover his shock. "I cannot say that I know what you are talking about, Lancelot." He could hear Lancelot move a step closer, still stroking Arthur's hair, finger combing so gently through the shining curls, as he began to speak. "You know what I mean, Arthur. I am not blind and I have seen the way you look at me... the way you have looked at me since we were boys. Why have you... why have you never told me how you feel? Did your god tell you your feelings were evil? Or was it the bishop who said that you will burn in some awful place forever because you love another man?"
Arthur closed his eyes tightly to Lancelot's questions and stood as soon as he had stopped speaking, pulling himself away from Lancelot's grasp. "I have NO idea what you mean by thinking that I would entertain such a perverse thought. I would burn in the deepest part of hell for the very thought of what you suggest." he said, his faced and and refusing to betray his true feelings. He was sure that his god had finally given him the opportunity to have what he had prayed for so long and turned it into a test so that he could not let himself take it. He turned to leave, but Lancelot would not let him go so easily. He gripped Arthur's arm and spun him around so that they were finally facing each other. "Tell me you do not love me!" he demanded. "Look into my eyes, Arthur! Tell me that you do not love me!" Arthur could barely speak and he doubted that he could look into Lancelot's eyes and say that he did not love him without having his own heart rip in half. "Lancelot... " he said, trying to calm the knight, but Lancelot would have none of it. "No! Do not try to get around this! Look into my eyes and tell me that you do not love me, Arthur! TELL ME!"
Arthur swallowed hard and looked into Lancelot's eyes, knowing almost instantly that he could not say that he did not love Lancelot. "I do not have time for this, Lancelot. I am going back to my bed... back to Guinevere." he said, turning before he saw the pain that was sure to fill Lancelot's warm brown eyes. He made to leave once more, but was stopped from doing so by Lancelot once more. Forcing Arthur against the wall, Lancelot pinned his arms to his sides and then pressed his lips to Arthur's in a passionate kiss that ended before he had a chance to react. "Now," Lancelot whispered "tell me that you do not love me."
(Author's Note: Ok, I know this one was kind of short with no super smutty slashyness, but I promise that's coming soon. Please give me feedback. Pretty please. I'm a feedback whore and I crave it like children crave chocolate.)
