Regrets
This part isn't NC-17 but it will be in later chapters
The warmth of the covers and the weak sunlight could not warm the coldness that stole the strength from her bones. She snuggled deeper into her ball, resisting the call of Obi Wan's arms to warm her against him. She shut her eyes as tears leaked from beneath the lids. She hated that she had given something to Obi Wan...not only her body but something of her...something precious. She looked at the sleeping form of the Jedi apprentice. It wasn't fair that he did this to her so easily. Drew her into his embrace with ease.
'I don't want to feel this,' she thought she fought against the need for him to hold her. Rebelled against her weakness. She eased herself out of bed, not wanting to disturb the man beside her. However she hadn't accounted for his Jedi reflexes as a gentle but firm hand gripped her wrist. She turned to look into deep blue eyes.
"Sabe?" his voice was smooth and deep and loving and that caused the heckles to rise in Sabe even more.
"I have to go..." she murmured, wincing at the raspiness in her tone, she sounded apologetic and she wasn't...she wasn't.
"So do I" Obi Wan agreed, he didn't move and he didn't let her arm go, moreover Sabe didn't try to shrug out of his grip.
Their eyes met and held and Sabe felt another peice of herself fade away.
Obi Wan let her go, dressing quickly. "Sabe we need to talk," she looked away "Properly, I mean...and we will talk"
Sabe nodded but inside she wasn't so sure. Obi Wan seemed to see through her, he gently cupped her chin, and looked into her eyes, she couldn't look away from that look in his eyes, it scared her with it's intensity. The pain of his rejection and the death of Qui Gon still lingered in his eyes but there was a new determination being born, fledgling and childlike but strong. It was hers.
"I love you Sabe, I need to talk to the council...about Anakin and get things ready for the funeral but I..." he looked slightly away, his face unreadable and the pain in his eyes was painful.
"Qui Gon always knew how to cope...I..."
Sabe met his gaze, she didn't back away from her emotions anymore, it was too real, to powerful.
"We'll cope" she promised. "together, we'll cope...later."
She fought for control, lost it momentarily then regained it. She felt exposed her with only a thin sheet covering her body, she could feel Obi Wan's eyes on her, see the way his eyes moved along her form through the sheet and she shivered as she recalled that he had kissed and touched every inch of her body the night before. She had surrendered to his will.
The sexual heat in his eyes was gone, but the love remained, and somehow that was worse.
Tearing her eyes away she picked up her disgarded clothes and hugged them protectively against her chest. When Obi Wan gently brushed his mouth over her chin she turned away.
She wanted him. Wanted his heat to burn her again but couldn't ask. Not in the cold light of day.
One tear slipped down her face as the door closed.
